Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Xiantao Town, Yu Family!

Yu Biao was holding a hot towel, pressing it against his swollen, red face while the house steward stood by his side, and Yu Sanliu sat across from him.

”Hiss... Ah...”

Yu Biao tried to speak, but every time he moved his lips, it pulled on the muscles of his face, causing him to gasp in pain.

At the same time, he deeply hated that damn Ni Manzi.

He had no idea how this brute had found out he’d once inquired after his whereabouts, only for him to sneak into his room in the dead of night.

Even now, Yu Biao vividly remembered the terrifying scene.

That day, he was embracing his Third Concubine, getting undressed, when suddenly a voice came from behind, ”Need any help?”

He was just about to draw his ”gun,” but that voice shocked him so much that he lowered his head.

In a fit of anger, he cursed, ”Who’s the blind moron interrupting my good time, I’ll f*ck...”

Before he could finish his swear word, he saw a hand shaped like a spatula coming right at him.

At that moment, he was confident there was no one in Xiantao Town he couldn’t handle, but that slap was terrifying.

He was conscious enough to feel the slap getting closer, but he just couldn’t block it, absolutely couldn’t block it, and with a smack, his left cheek swelled up.

”Motherf*cker~”

Before he could spit out another dirty word, another smack landed across his face!

This slap instantly woke him up, and at the same time his right cheek swelled up too, quite symmetrically!

At the same time, he finally saw who had entered his room!

Dressed in Jianghu attire, with a conical hat on his head, and when he looked up, there was a fierce scar across his face!

”Ni Man... no, Hero Ni!”

The Jianghu Guest smiled, showing his teeth, ”You’re Master Yu, I presume.”

”Hero, I was just joking, just call me Yu Biao. I wouldn’t dare to claim to be a master in front of a hero!”

”Oh, quite aware of the times, I see. But I’ve heard you were looking for me?”

”No, no!”

”Heh, no? But this was found in your study, wasn’t it?”

The Jianghu Guest slapped an arrest warrant on Yu Biao’s face, and upon seeing it, Yu Biao was paralyzed with fear, collapsing to his knees with a thud.

”Hero, spare my life!”

The Jianghu Guest looked at Yu Biao and said, ”So tell me, how should we resolve this?”

”Well, my Third Concubine, can I offer her to you?”

Yu Biao clung to a thread of hope, volunteering the beauty, but the Jianghu Guest replied, ”I don’t like second-hand goods!”

”Then, shall I find you some fresh ones tomorrow?”

Yu Biao tentatively asked.

The Jianghu Guest gave him a kick and said, ”We won’t make it to tomorrow!”

”This… Hero, you wouldn’t put me in a tough spot, right? Even the chickens at home aren’t young anymore, you…”

”Just cough up the silver...”

Just like that, Yu Biao was extorted of one thousand taels of silver.

Watching the Jianghu Guest pocket the silver note and leave, Yu Biao’s heart shattered. How many unscrupulous deeds had he committed to amass one thousand taels!

And though the Yu Family’s gambling house made decent money, eighty percent had to be turned over to the guild, leaving him with only twenty percent!

That one thousand taels, how dearly he felt its loss!

Thinking about it, Yu Biao, with his swollen face, wondered who the adorable snitch might be. However, he dared not openly send people to investigate at this point.

If Ni Manzi learned he was probing into matters related to him again…

Would he think Yu Biao was plotting revenge...?

At that time, would a couple of slaps be enough to settle it?

Yu Biao, nursing his face, thought ruefully no wonder the fortune-teller had warned him this would be an unlucky year and that he should wear red underwear. He hadn’t listened, and now he was suffering the karmic consequences.

First, there was the botched capture of the Red-eyed Golden Chicken, which then flew away!

Then, he was subject to Ni Manzi’s extortion and blackmail.

And it was still just the first half of the year; who knew what other misfortunes awaited him in the second half. He would have to be extra cautious.

”Mm, Lai Fu.”

”Master!”

”Inform the mistress to prepare a red pair of underpants for me, and take them to Datong Temple to have a monk bless them. I need to change my luck!”

”Yes, Master, I will see to it immediately.”

”Also, send word that we must not cause any trouble lately, I am jinxed right now, who knows what pitfalls await me!”

”Yes, Master!”

”And you, San Liu, you better keep yourself out of trouble recently, we have the competition for the position of Village Chief in a month, and I don’t want any more chaos, do you hear me?”

Upon hearing this, Yu Sanliu nodded, ”Heard you loud and clear, Dad. What trouble could I possibly cause!”

”Mm-hm, just avoid any trouble, hiss... Ouch~”

Yu Biao clutched his swollen face, in so much pain that he inhaled sharply...

He moaned with a hot towel pressed against his face...

All the while muttering, ”You all, for heaven’s sake, don’t stir up any trouble!”

...

Just then, a house servant rushed in frantically.

”Master, Master, it’s terrible, it’s terrible!”

”Hiss... What happened?”

Right after Yu Biao had calmed down, the house servant barged in, giving Yu Biao such a start that he gasped, clutching his face!

”Master, the Fishing Guild, the Fishing Guild has broken in!”

”What! Hiss hiss...”

Upon hearing this, Yu Biao nearly jumped up, aggravating the wound on his face and causing him to inhale sharply!

”Wu Zhong, Wu Zhong is leading people and they’ve blocked the door, Master, you must come and see! Our brothers can’t hold them off!”

”Hiss hiss... Wu Zhong’s gone mad, blocking the door, does he want to escalate things? Quick, bring me my knife, and let’s go out and see... Hiss!”

Yu Biao cursed under his breath.

He was aware of petty squabbles, but direct confrontations like this were rare without the big shots turning against each other.

This forced him to approach the situation with caution.

The butler handed over the knife, and Yu Biao put aside the towel and moved his face around, finding that his eyes were almost squeezed shut due to the swelling.

Going out looking like this would be laughable!

Thinking this, he took a silk handkerchief from a maid nearby and covered his face with it as a makeshift cover.

”Let’s go, let’s meet those guys from the Fishing Guild, what are they thinking at this critical moment!”

With that, he led his men and charged out, with San Liu to his left, the butler to his right, and more than twenty house servants from the courtyard heading directly toward the entrance.

Inside the courtyard gate, there were ten house servants on guard, as if facing an imminent threat!

Outside, there were already shouts and curses filling the air.

”Yu Sanliu, come out!”

”You have the guts to bully our Fishing Guild’s people, so why are you hiding? Come out!”

”Come out!”

...

The shouts and curses continued in waves.

At this moment, Yu Biao arrived at the door and, not daring to open it immediately, stopped and said, ”San Liu, what trouble have you stirred up now?”

”Didn’t I tell you not to cause trouble?”

Yu Biao was instantly furious.

San Liu felt wronged. What had he done?

Lately, he hadn’t done much!

Looking after the gambling house, playing with women, investigating the cause of Ma Liu’s death!

Wait a minute?!

Ma Liu? Could it be?

San Liu’s eyes widened instantly as if he realized something!

But then, he shook his head. No, that’s not right, he had only been investigating, and hadn’t taken any radical actions, how could he have provoked the Fishing Guild?

It was beyond him to understand.

After all, who would have thought that by simply issuing an investigation task, his men would turn it into a kidnapping mission, and to top it off, they botched it royally!
