Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Where there are people, there is Jianghu, where there are people, there is oppression.

According to the rules of the fishery, new staff are supposed to face some bullying, just like how newcomers are bullied at a workplace.

But there was absolutely no problem when Chen Jie arrived.

Not only because he had a powerful backer, but with the title of Master Egg Shatterer, who would dare to provoke him!

In case he lost his temper and acted out, could you bear the consequences?

Chen Jie hadn’t expected that the battle at East River would earn him the title of Master Egg Shatterer.

And that it would make him untouchable.

Of course, Chen Jie was still conservative. If he were to reveal his identity as a martial artist, it wouldn’t just be a matter of being untouchable; he would probably have no shortage of people trying to curry favor with him.

However, Chen Jie did not reveal his trump card.

Chen Jie began introducing himself, Xiao Hu was somewhat nervous. Chen Jie patted his back and laughed, ”This is my cousin, Chen Xiaohu. Please look after him in the future.”

Chen Xiaohu also recovered and nodded, ”Nice to meet everyone, I’m Chen Xiaohu.”

With these brief introductions, they got acquainted, and then Wu Zhong continued to speak, ”Good, now I’ll arrange the work. Chen Jie and Chen Xiaohu, as a team, your future task will be river patrol. I hope everyone will support them!”

Upon hearing this, the fishery staff looked at each other in dismay!

Newcomers on river patrol duty?

Isn’t this nepotism a bit too blatant?

Particularly, some of the older staff began to look visibly displeased. Having worked at the fishery for so many years, they had never been assigned to river patrol. Yet Chen Jiusi was assigned a river patrol just as he arrived, which felt unfairly partial.

River patrol in the fishery is regarded as an ’attractive’ duty, only available to staff with over five years of experience, and even then, it was not guaranteed.

River patrol not only had flexible working hours but also offered plenty of perks. Most importantly, serving as river patrol provided a chance to formally join the Fishing Guild as a disciple within two years!

The fishery staff were not disciples of the Fishing Guild; they were more like reserves.

Currently, within the fishery, including Wu Zhong, there were only ten official disciples of the Fishing Guild.

This includes the Five Captains!

Moreover, serving on river patrol could potentially lead directly to becoming a ship captain, who are real holders of power.

Don’t think that a town-level fishery’s power structure is simple; it’s actually quite the opposite. There’s a saying that small temples have more devils, and town-level power structures tend to have even more complex social relations.

Thus, the attitude of the crowd was no longer as warm as before, it even became somewhat cold.

Many staff members discreetly glanced towards an older colleague, considering that there were only five river patrol positions, and just recently, one had been vacated. While everyone was still competing over it, Chen Jie had just arrived and snatched the spot.

How could they not have their own thoughts about this?

Chen Jie also sensed the change in atmosphere, and looked towards Wu Zhong.

Wu Zhong remained silent, this kind of test, if Chen Jie couldn’t handle it on his own, then he wouldn’t make much of a mark in the future either.

That’s just how society is, the opportunities are limited, if you don’t claim them, don’t expect others to hand them to you.

And now that I’ve given you the chance, if you can’t defend it, then it’s your own lack of capability!

Don’t blame yourself!

With this thought, Chen Jie immediately bowed to Wu Zhong and said, ”Thank you for your cultivation, Uncle Wu Zhong!”

Following that, Chen Jie spoke, ”Uncle Zhong, may I distribute stuff to everyone?”

Wu Zhong nodded, ”Of course!”

With that, Chen Jie cleared his throat and said, ”Colleagues, I’m happy to be working with you all. Also, about yesterday’s incident, Jiu Si hasn’t actually thanked everyone yet!”

”If it weren’t for everyone stepping in yesterday to back Jiu Si, how could Jiu Si have avenged the humiliation from the Yu Family!”

”Moreover, Jiu Si also gained some silver. This money should not be kept by Jiu Si alone, so Jiu Si bought some grain and oil which will be distributed to everyone in a moment. Please, do not think it is too little!”

Hmm?

As soon as Chen Jie finished speaking, not only the staff from the fishery, but even the Five Captains looked up, surprised at Chen Jie.

Especially the Big Ship Leader, his gaze held a hint of darkness.

And the staff from the fishery were all stunned, followed immediately by excitement!

Grain and oil!

This was hard currency in this era, something every household was short of; this gift really struck a chord with them.

Do not think that it is common now for units to distribute grain and oil, even scoffing at it for being cliché.

But rewind time by thirty years.

Back then, any factory distributing grain and oil was impressive; when fathers-in-law were seeking sons-in-law, they would ask, ”What does your workplace distribute during holidays?”

If you said grain and oil, in the eyes of the father-in-law, it’s a regular factory, stable work, this son-in-law is suitable!

Much more so in ancient society.

This grain and oil was truly a killing move.

Especially for these Fishing Guild staff, who were not living comfortably. Don’t think they could just take whatever they wanted, the lion’s share went to the Five Captains, then the senior staff, and the new staff got very little.

But this grain and oil from Chen Jie was tangible!

Although it was sorghum rice and millet, in the eyes of the fishery staff, it was a generous gift!

Chen Jie’s strategic move with a generous gift immediately dissolved any resistance from below.

He had snatched some people’s positions in the River Patrol, but only five or six senior staff were actually eligible for these River Patrol positions, and most new staff were indifferent.

The resistance earlier was due to feeling the injustice, a natural aversion to nepotism!

But now he’s giving you gifts, so no worries, that natural aversion is directly corroded by these sugar-coated cannonballs.

This River Patrol position would never land on my head; Chen Jiusi even gave me a big gift, getting benefits was what mattered, as for these old folks being upset.

What do I care about that? I got the perks, they don’t share with me, why should I empathize with them?

Chen Jie’s divide and conquer strategy directly minimized the opposition to just a few old staff.

He didn’t even consider these old guys; in terms of strength, he was a Martial Artist, while they were at best mediocre, not a match for him.

In terms of backing, he was supported by the Bai Family.

If they had a big supporter, they would have been promoted long ago, would they still be waiting until today?

Additionally, he had an intelligence system, always keeping abreast of the dynamics; this River Patrol position, he held it firmly.

Moreover, Chen Jie was very satisfied with this River Patrol position.

Little work, few responsibilities, and good pay, what more could you want in a job?

After a brief introduction session, Chen Jie began distributing grain and oil with Xiao Hu; the captains exchanged glances, and the Third Captain said to the Big Ship Leader, ”A harbinger of no good!”

The Big Ship Leader chuckled, saying, ”Good, a young man with spirit, very good.”

At that moment, Chen Jie carried a special gift prepared for the captains over.

”Big Ship Leader, I’ll be under your wing from now on. Please take care of me.”

As the Big Ship Leader looked at the gift Chen Jie was offering, he smiled gleefully, ”Hahaha...of course, of course, you see, you even brought me a gift, too kind, too kind…”
