Ning An's Wild Wish System

”Police officer: Damn, listening to this makes me want to call the police.”

The livestream viewers were chattering away, and the mediator noticed the change in Ning An’s expression.

He thought to himself that things weren’t going well, but he still stiffened his neck and asked Ning An:

”Little Daoist, do you think what I said was wrong?”

”May I ask everyone, who hasn’t grown from a child? Everyone grows up, and everyone gets old. Our parents gave us life, shouldn’t we be grateful and support them?”

”If children don’t support their parents, our society and country would be in grave danger, wouldn’t they?”

”Making her fulfill her duties of support is for the sake of our society and country. Daoist Master, you must understand my good intentions, right?”

After he finished speaking, everyone turned their gaze toward Ning An.

Instinctively, everyone loathed what Wang Sheng said, but he was coming from a moral high ground, overshadowing everyone.

Even though everyone knew what was going on, they all remained silent at this time.

It’s not that they’ve lost their conscience, but this society is too cruel. If they dared to speak up now, unethical media would maliciously edit their words for traffic the next day.

Initially, everyone had hearts like Bodhisattvas, dying to help others even when they themselves weren’t well-off, but slowly, they all started to stay silent. Is it that people don’t like to speak?

No...

It’s just that the price of speaking in this society is too high.

Under everyone’s gaze, Ning An nodded at Wang Sheng and said:

”You’re right. No matter the circumstances, the elderly shouldn’t be treated like this, but should be cared for.”

Hiss!

The sound of people sucking in their breath was heard all around.

Even the Little Daoist thinks this way?

In an instant, the vague idol in everyone’s heart cracked open.

But on second thought, what the Little Daoist said wasn’t wrong either.

Now that the Changchun Temple is gaining huge traffic, he’s standing in the limelight. With everyone’s eyes on him, one wrong word could drown him in never-ending deep waters.

And the Little Daoist isn’t alone. He has the Changchun Temple, his master and junior sister.

He could speak his true feelings, but the cost of consequences is immense. Just thinking about it sent shivers down everyone’s spine.

Thinking to this point, everyone looked more sympathetically at the middle-aged woman.

But the viewers in the livestream wouldn’t tolerate Wang Sheng’s moral coercion.

”What an idiot! Dragging himself to the moral high ground to judge others, how disgusting.”

”This person is truly evil, clearly leveraging Brother Sect Leader’s traffic to cement the situation for his benefit, reaping the traffic while Brother Sect Leader ends up with a mess, damn!”

”Damn it! Is this the current kind of mediator? It’s utterly nauseating, I hope your dad clings to you like this old bloodsucker, never letting you rise!”

The viewers were enraged, speaking out boldly in the livestream.

They’ve been educated for years, their ideals resembling utopia.

In the face of society’s darkness, injustice, and filthiness, if even these new youths bow and scrape, play along with deceit...

It’s hard to imagine whether the country can still be called a country!

Reading can enlighten, the viewers wouldn’t blame Ning An. Whatever choice Ning An makes, they can understand him.

After all, not everyone can disregard themselves entirely to help someone unrelated.

Truly, such people aren’t ordinary but saints!

Anyone can shout slogans!

But truly facing disaster, being able to grasp the mediator’s pen like Ning An did just now, allowing Wang Wenyan to voice her grievances, he is indeed a rare, great benefactor on earth.

Unaware of the netizens’ verbal attacks, Wang Sheng felt his heart skip a beat hearing Ning An’s words.

”What... What did you say?”

”I said, you’re absolutely right. The elderly must be taken care of, or the society would fall apart.”

Ning An watched the impatient mediator and repeated meaningfully.

Wang Sheng’s suspended heart finally eased a bit, relaxing as he said: ”Isn’t that true? We all age, and if we imagine our children not supporting us when we’re old, how would we feel? Alas, the heart of a parent is so pitiful.”

As Ning An spoke, Wang Wenyan remained silent, her lips pressed tightly together.

But hearing Wang Sheng’s heartless words, Wang Wenyan couldn’t hold back anymore and cursed:

”That’s bullshit!”

”You think I don’t know why you’re desperately trying to get me to support this old bastard, and why you showed up at this exact moment?”

”’Ungrateful daughter repents and tearfully reconciles with father’—that topic is trending enough, isn’t it? Enough to satisfy your bosses, right?”

”Do you really think I haven’t noticed your sneaky attempt to start a livestream account the day before yesterday? Isn’t it just to leverage Changchun Temple’s popularity and direct traffic to yourself while making money, pretending to be a good person?”

Exposed, Wang Sheng began to panic:

”Stop slandering me here!”

”What about me isn’t for you to judge. If your father hadn’t been ruthless enough to take you back from your foster parents years ago, would you have had the chance to attend college? To leave the rural area and come to a big city?”

Wang Sheng, flustered and exasperated, grasped a point and attacked.

Wang Wenyan was stunned, not expecting someone so shameless in the world.

”You beast, since you know he wanted to take me back from my foster parents, then you should know the reason, right?”

Under the loud rebuke, a flush appeared on Wang Wenyan’s pale face:

”He... he heard that in big cities, women could earn money as long as they were willing to work in hair salons.”

”So he desperately tried to take me to a hair salon in a big city, even drugging me to do so when my foster parents weren’t paying attention, with accomplices carrying me to the city.”

”But unfortunately, my face might’ve been passable then, but when the bosses saw my body covered with terrifying frostbites, they jumped out the window in fright.”

”The patrons at the salon were all leering at me. Then they drugged me, and when I was unconscious, one by one, they ran away upon seeing me. Seeing I was a lost cause, he grudgingly returned me while saying he couldn’t bring himself to go through with it, claiming he couldn’t bear to hurt me, ha.”

Wang Wenyan’s face showed sarcasm, every word squeezed out.

A daughter being sent to a salon to prostitute by her biological father, even willing to drug her when she refused.

In his eyes, this daughter wasn’t flesh and blood, but a chicken, a commodity, something he could use as a cash cow!

Her not supporting such a beast—what’s wrong with that?

This explosive truth hit everyone like a brick.

The livestream viewers felt utterly shocked by the news.

”Salon? Drugs? Kidnapping? What kind of father does that!”

”Isn’t this pure scum! This poor girl, meeting such a monster.”

”Damn! I’ve slapped myself twice. I can’t believe I even thought of criticizing her—I’m not a human!”

”Heavenly injustices, oh heaven, why me? How can such trash survive to such an age, why?”

”I guess his soul stinks too much, the Ox Head and Horse Face tasked with taking him couldn’t stand it, so they let him live this long.”

...

Seeing public opinion utterly reversed, the old man realized if it continued like this, the outcome might really allow Wang Wenyan to be freed from her duties.

He frantically told Wang Sheng: ”You’re the mediator!”

”Let them talk, you write your thing, but don’t let her few words sway the right direction!”

The old man panicked; he was scared, understanding he had to do something.

He knew clearly that the one who could make the final call wasn’t public opinion, wasn’t Ning An, but Wang Sheng with the decision right in front of them.

That’s why he was anxious, urging Wang Sheng to issue the decision quickly. They had settled an agreement beforehand: he would have someone provide for his living, and Wang Sheng would gain traffic. So why was he now hesitant?

Cold sweat beaded on Wang Sheng’s forehead. He could hear the old man’s urging, but he couldn’t move!

Ning An’s hand clapped on his shoulder, feeling like a prehistoric beast, the stench of blood overwhelming.

The cold sweat pouring, just as he was about to say something, he heard Ning An say:

”I think Mr. Wang, who crossed mountains and waters, enduring hardships to reunite father and daughter, must be a once-in-a-century great kind-hearted person with a Bodhisattva’s heart.”

”Now that she can’t support the old man, I trust you’ll find a way to let him live on, right?”
