Ning An's Wild Wish System

After Quan Xiaobai avenged his master, he did not turn to his master’s friends for help.

In the end, he was just an inexperienced child. The anxiety after killing someone completely extinguished the flames of hatred.

He simply wanted to leave Liaodong quickly. Leaving alone wouldn’t be a problem, but the zombie he raised was too conspicuous.

No matter if it was a train, bus, or a black car, none would accept him. Even if he hijacked a car, the dense cameras and checkpoints on the highway would close off that route entirely.

The right way was unsuitable, so he could only take the mountain paths. Moreover, the zombie was too weak and couldn’t be exposed to sunlight, so he could only travel at night and find a cave to hide in during the day.

After so many days, he had stumbled along for over a hundred miles, but hadn’t even managed to leave Y City.

The money left by the old Daoist was spent on the care of the zombie.

Providence didn’t abandon him, as he happened upon several gamblers in the woods. Heaven’s gift not taken incurs its own penalty.

Relying on this unexpected gain, he managed to get through.

The secret technique his master imparted orally was incomplete. It only contained methods to refine Iron Corpses, Copper Corpses, and Silver Corpses. As for the higher Gold Corpses, Jade and Stone Corpses, or stronger ones, only two cryptic lines came through.

Since zombies are extremely Yin objects, to transform, they must find a Feng Shui site heavy with Yin energy, then be buried there to wait for transformation.

But on the run, it was fortunate enough for Quan Xiaobai to charge the Iron Corpse. After all, the Y City police were not easily dealt with, and he could feel them closing in.

He even resorted to having the zombie carry him to swiftly move through the mountains.

Being with the zombie day after day, he inevitably absorbed some of its Yin energy. Genuine Maoshan skills have scriptures, medicines, and secret techniques to dispel Yin energy.

Though his master was once a true disciple, he was only allowed to study corpse cultivation, while dispelling Yin energy was learned by his junior brother.

In just a few days, his skin tone had become akin to the zombie’s, shifting from a wheat yellow to a ghastly white, his pupils sharpening, even his formerly immortal-like demeanor becoming eerily sinister.

The Yin energy frequently ties back to millennia-old tombs, filled with inexplicable evil presences affecting both body and mind inadvertently.

After disposing of the driver, his heart was filled with fear, dripping in cold sweat, but within less than half an hour, fear transformed into a desire to kill.

Only through slaughter could he cease the hatred in his heart.

Fortunately, the years of Daoist scripture hadn’t been in vain. After killing those three people, he almost bit off his tongue, forcefully correcting his thoughts.

But ultimately, it was a temporary solution. For stability, he still needs to learn another branch of Maoshan skills.

Luckily, fate provided a way. While sorting through his master’s final possessions, he found an envelope which bore only a Daoist temple address and nothing else.

Through intuition, Quan Xiaobai was convinced this was where his master’s brother resided.

”Z City, Li Tie...”

Lonesome and somber, under dim starlight, two solitary shadows moved through the pitch-black mountains, an indescribable mix of eerie and desolate.

Seeing the desolation around, Quan Xiaobai made no more disguises, shedding his black robe to reveal shorts and a T-shirt, feeling neither the mountain wind’s chill nor discomfort, even feeling slightly warm.

Eating the purchased goods to replenish energy, his eyes scanned his surroundings continuously, wary of every rustle and stir.

This was already the furthest edge of Y City. Just a dozen more miles of mountain road and he would leave Y City entirely, crossing Mountain and Sea Pass.

That side was sparsely populated, with countless deep forests, an ideal hiding spot compared to Y City.

”No!”

Nearing the boundary, Quan Xiaobai abruptly stopped, with the zombie behind him also halting, making no sound whatsoever.

His ears twitched, then he climbed onto the zombie, squinting toward the forest edge where shadows seemed to move faintly.

He furrowed his brows, took out a map, calculated the route, and finally settled on a direction, then commanded the zombie to abruptly dash that way.

One man, one corpse, united as one, appearing both eerie and comical.

...

As always, the livestream from Changchun Temple yet again sparked a storm online.

Ning An had grown tired of paying attention to these trivial things.

The following day, everything remained the same.

Just as a plainly dressed woman accepted an incense stick, preparing to offer incense and make a wish, a piercingly old wail sounded from afar.

”Daughter, how could you be so heartless?”

”Please, don’t abandon your father. He doesn’t eat much and won’t cause you trouble.”

A group hurried into the Daoist temple entrance, led by a supported elder.

Behind him followed people with cameras, dressed similarly to reporters.

A man assisting from the side introduced himself, ”Greetings, Daoist Master. I’m a community mediator, my name is Wang Sheng...”

Before he could finish speaking, the elder was already tearful and tightly grasping Ning An’s hand:

”Daoist Master, you must help me.”

”I have only one child, and now she abandons me because I’m old. My fate is bitter.”

The elderly man was in his twilight years, dressed in worn clothes, skin clung to bone.

Merely standing there, he seemed on the verge of collapsing with the slightest breeze.

Such vulnerable groups needn’t do much to inspire countless sympathy.

The elderly man wept endlessly, pouring his heart out, until deeply moved, he repeatedly tried kneeling before Ning An, begging for justice.

Seeing this, the viewers in Ning An’s livestream were somewhat moved.

”Regardless of neglectful sayings like children caring for elders, but after raising a child all these years, how could she turn heartless and ignore him?”

”Without knowing the full story, it’s hard to judge. What if the old man treated his daughter poorly in the past?”

”Stop pretending to be a saint. Even if he was indeed bad to her, wouldn’t she still give him food? Look at how the old man is nearly just a skeleton. Did his daughter grow up only drinking air, not eating food?”

”Where’s the livestream’s alarmist brother? Come, your new plot is unlocked.”

...

Watching the nearby middle-aged woman purse her lips, silent, the elder’s tears were scorching.

He tried to let go of Ning An’s hand, tremblingly lifted his legs, wanting to move forward.

But without support, he couldn’t move.

His leg lifted, then helplessly set back down, his face full of confusion and anxiety.

This moving scene compelled nearby incense burners to shed tears.

”Nowadays, the spirit is far worse than in our time, ignoring even one’s own father, alas, such a cruel heart.”

”Isn’t that true? There was a news report before, wasn’t there? An old widower lived alone in the village, his children rarely returning even once a year, until a neighbor noticed something was wrong, finding him dead at home for over a month.”

”It’s a tragedy. If my child dared act this way, I’d beat him to death!”

”Indeed, this elder is such an age, appearing to be eighty, right? Truly raised a wolf pup.”

”Later, let’s all lend a hand, for there should be no lasting feud between father and daughter in this world.”
