Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 622: Chapter 339: King of Horses

Spectrier?

”Is that a Pokemon from the Paldea Region?”

”I don’t know, I’ve never heard of that name in the Paldea Region!”

”So it’s a Pokemon from another region! Wow, I never thought there would be such a Pokemon! Amazing!”

”I wonder what kind of performance contestant number six and this Spectrier will deliver. Let’s wait and see! But there are still contestants who haven’t appeared. Next, let’s welcome contestant number seven!”

Naoki rode the Spectrier to his starting position.

He lowered his head and spoke to Spectrier: ”Remember to use Agility first thing, then rush out at the fastest speed to distance yourself from the others.”

Spectrier let out a neigh, indicating it understood.

Seeing this, Naoki didn’t say much more. The specific strategy would depend on the actual situation once they started running.

Because once they were in the lead, they would immediately become the target, and the other seven would try everything to attack him and Spectrier and pull them down.

After waiting for about three minutes, all eight contestants were present.

The staff holding the starting gun also came to one side of the starting line. Seeing everyone ready, this staff raised the starting gun.

With a bang, Spectrier stepped on the cloud and rushed out straight.

Its eyes flashed with blue light, its body became lighter, and its running speed increased immediately.

Watching this scene, the commentator exclaimed, ”Wow! Our number six contestant has bolted ahead! Spectrier’s speed is so fast! It used Agility!”

”The other contestants aren’t giving up either. Contestant number one’s Rapidash also used Agility!”

”Oh? The ground is shaking! Contestant number seven’s Mudsdale used Bulldoze! The speed of the other Horse-type Pokemon has slowed down!”

Despite this, Spectrier remained in the lead.

Naoki quickly glanced back at the situation behind him. The closest to him now was that Rapidash.

After a brief thought, he quickly ordered Spectrier, ”Haze!”

Spectrier did not respond while running, but soon, a black mist exuding a gloomy aura spread across the field, obscuring the view ahead.

Two contestants, inexperienced in the face of sudden changes, failed to react and plunged into the black mist.

Their vision was obscured by the mist, and the Horse-type Pokemon they were riding immediately fell into a panic.

Panic-stricken, they rushed out of the racetrack and got disqualified.

”Damn, that horse’s speed is too fast! It can’t go on like this!” Contestant number one gritted his teeth and ordered Rapidash, ”Fire Blast!”

Not only him, but those left behind quickly reacted too.

The man riding Zebstrika simultaneously ordered, ”Zebstrika, use Thunder Wave!”

For a moment, several different moves simultaneously attacked Naoki and Spectrier ahead.

Seeing this scene, the commentator exclaimed, ”Oh my, contestant number six has attracted hostility, and the other contestants chose to team up! Contestant number six is in danger!”

Naoki also noticed the situation behind him and after brief contemplation, he quickly said, ”Phantom Force!”

In the next moment, Spectrier flickered and vanished along with Naoki from their original spot.

Their attacks directly missed.

Immediately after, Spectrier, with Naoki, appeared further ahead.

”Dodged!” The commentator exclaimed, ”Contestant number six’s Spectrier used Phantom Force to pull back and also dodged those attacks!”

”Oh, it looks like the other contestants haven’t given up! Oh no, the second wave of attacks is coming!”

”Just as I imagined, they’ve teamed up.”

Naoki wasn’t too panicked inside. He watched those attacks and at the right moment had Spectrier use Phantom Force again.

After Phantom Force ended, the speed-driven Spectrier distanced itself even further from those people.

But it seemed they hadn’t given up.

Seeing this scene, Naoki couldn’t help but sigh.

Well, he didn’t intend to, just wanted to rely on Spectrier’s proud speed to take first place.

But it was clear now that that wasn’t going to work.

So once Phantom Force was over, Naoki solemnly said, ”Bulldoze!”

Spectrier let out a neigh, and a mighty force quickly gathered at its hooves, then stomped heavily.

Then a boom was heard, as if the vast racetrack trembled along.

A terrifying ground shockwave spread quickly in all directions.

Rapidash running at the front was the first to be attacked.

Under that strong impact, Rapidash staggered, neighed urgently, and fell directly to the ground.

Next, the second... the third...

When Bulldoze ended, the entire racetrack fell into a bizarre silence.

Because aside from that Spectrier, all Horse-type Pokemon had fallen to the ground due to the shockwave!

”That power... so strong!” The commentator’s voice was full of shock, ”It’s amazing! Absolutely amazing! Contestant number six’s Spectrier knocked down all contestants with one Bulldoze!”

”No one can stop it now! Ah! Spectrier has reached the finish line! It seems the champion of this year’s Horse Race Tournament is about to be crowned!”

In the stands, Alder watched the Spectrier below, a smile appearing on his face.

He was right; that Spectrier is a Legendary Level Pokemon!

Calyrex, Koraidon, Spectrier, and Glastrier... and those nine Dragonites.

A ranch has so many legendary and rare Pokemon at the same time.

”Really, the younger generation is truly awe-inspiring!” Alder exclaimed.

He couldn’t help but wonder if he, as the Unova Region Champion, would be a match for Naoki.

Alder felt uncertain.

The only words he could think of were invincible in the world.

During these days at the ranch, Naoki introduced him to Calyrex.

Even as the champion, although Calyrex didn’t show its prowess, Alder could still perceive this Pokemon’s extraordinariness.

Even if Naoki didn’t use Koraidon, just with Calyrex alone, he could probably sweep through their Unova League.

A Pokemon with faith as energy, Alder had never heard of before.

Now it’s only a Paldea Region, and that Calyrex already possesses such tremendous power.

If someday the whole world were to know about Calyrex, what kind of heights would its strength reach? Alder didn’t even dare to imagine.

The Horse Race Tournament officially came to a close.

Amidst the cheers of the audience, Naoki stepped onto the champion award stage with Spectrier.

Basking in the adoring gazes of the crowd, Spectrier had apparently already become the world’s greatest Horse-type Pokemon.

It glanced at the golden ”Crown” in Naoki’s hand, wondering why the crown of this era is different from before?

But Spectrier didn’t think much about it. It was very happy now because it had already become the ”King of Horses.”

Next was the coronation ceremony!

Just like thousands of years ago when humans revered Calyrex as a king.

Thinking of this, Spectrier let out a neigh toward Naoki.

Naoki turned to look and found Spectrier staring at the trophy in his hand, somewhat surprised: ”You want this?”

Spectrier nodded and then lowered its head, indicating for Naoki to put the ”Crown” on.

Naoki: ”?!”

He paused for a moment and asked, ”You want me to put this on your head?”

Spectrier lowered its proud head, exuding an aura of regality all over.

Naoki was silent.

Looking at Spectrier’s eager expression, he eventually chose to comply with its wishes and inverted the golden trophy onto its head.

Spectrier mimicked Calyrex’s posture, raising its head with dignity.

Naoki: ”...”

At this moment, Mayor Thomas approached with a camera. Seeing Spectrier’s appearance, he was a bit surprised but didn’t comment.

He waved to Naoki, indicating for them to stand properly for a champion commemorative photo.

Naoki stood straight immediately.

Beside him, Spectrier raised its head proudly, with a golden trophy inverted on its head.

With a click, the picture was fixed.
