Not Being a Trainer This Time

But eventually, a few Trainers discovered a way to challenge the Grass Trial, which was to act pitifully in front of Mr. Naoki and express their desire to battle powerful Pokemon, telling him they wanted to experience the legendary Grass Trial.

In such cases, Mr. Naoki, faced with the enthusiastic challengers, would relent and allow them to try.

Thinking of this, the girl pleaded, ”Please Mr. Naoki, let us try! Let us witness the strength of Champion level Pokemon, Pichu and I will work hard to reach that level!”

Naoki felt a headache coming on, here we go again.

He softened his stance, ”It’s not that I don’t want you to challenge, it’s just that if the disparity between Pokemon’s strength is too great, there’s a risk of serious injury.”

He had Life Sheep Milk here, so there wouldn’t be any problem, but if these Trainers went out into the wild with such a mindset to challenge stronger Pokemon, that would be dangerous.

The girl, full of fighting spirit, said, ”Don’t worry! I’ve prepared all kinds of healing potions!”

The little Pichu in her arms also jumped onto the grass, clenching its tiny paws with determination, weak currents of electricity coursing through its cheeks, ”Pi—chu!”

Naoki: ”...”

He sighed helplessly and said, ”Alright, I’ll let you try, but remember to stay within your limits, understood?”

”Yay!” The girl jumped up with joy, then high-fived Pichu.

Naoki turned and went to the battle arena, calling out a Gogoat, and said to it, ”Play with this little Pichu for a bit!”

Gogoat looked at the tiny Pichu, then nodded, ”Baa~”

The traveling girl came to challenge!

The girl sent out Pichu!

Gogoat used Grassy Terrain, and Pichu was overwhelmed by the grass, leaving Pichu dumbfounded.

The bewildered Pichu used Thunder Shock, but it didn’t hit Gogoat.

Gogoat used Vine Whip, entangling Pichu and sending it flying.

Seeing Pichu about to hit the ground, Gogoat caught it again with Vine Whip, repeating the cycle.

This battle, Naoki did not provide any commands.

He observed from the side, and Alder watched the scene with interest.

Based on the previous conversation, he roughly guessed Naoki’s intentions, so he spoke up:

”You’re helping these novice Trainers strengthen their skills.”

Naoki showed an awkward but polite smile, thinking that wasn’t really it, he just wanted the challengers to help his Pokemon hone their battle techniques and enhance their strength.

Unexpectedly, most of these challengers turned out to be rookie Trainers…

If you put it in a game, those Pichu and Caterpie probably wouldn’t exceed level 8.

A level 8 Pichu vs. a level 60 Gogoat.

It’s like challenging a final boss just after leaving the beginner’s village.

At this moment, the battle was coming to an end.

Gogoat’s Vine Whip was like a huge trampoline, and soon, Pichu was knocked unconscious.

The battle ended with Pichu losing its ability to fight.

”Pichu!” The girl quickly ran up to check Pichu’s condition and found that it wasn’t injured, just passed out.

Naoki stepped forward, finding it strange that several Trainers used the same words to challenge the Grass Trial recently.

To uncover the truth, he directly asked the girl in front of him.

”Secrète Marseille!”

The girl, somewhat embarrassed, bowed before explaining:

”That… that’s because all the first-year students think battling a Champion level Pokemon is an impressive feat! Since we rarely see Champion level Trainers in our daily lives, everyone wants to see a Champion’s Pokemon… and those who successfully challenge the Grass Trial would be admired by everyone...”

Naoki immediately understood what was going on.

He said with a face full of helplessness, ”I am very welcoming for you to visit Gogoat and Pawmo, but using battles with a Champion Pokemon as a way to show off is not right.”

The girl blushed, not because she was shy, but because she felt a bit ashamed.

Beside him, Alder nodded in agreement and said, ”That’s right, if you want to battle a Champion’s Pokemon, then work hard together with your Pokemon, one day, you too will become new Champions!”

The girl looked up dumbfoundedly at the man in front of her, then nodded heavily, ”Yes!”

Naoki handed a few bottles of MooMoo Fresh Milk emblazoned with the Naoki Ranch logo to the girl, ”This is a special fresh milk from the ranch.”

”Eh?” The girl was a little overwhelmed.

Naoki smiled and said, ”I hope when you go back to school, you can help me tell everyone, before collecting six badges, it’s better not to come challenge the Trial yet.”

”Because if there’s too big a difference in strength between Pokemon, it might cause irreversible damage during battle, and worse, some Pokemon might lose their lives and never be able to battle again.”

The girl listened dumbfounded.

Naoki gently asked, ”Do you really like Pokemon?”

The girl finally came to her senses, looked at the Pichu in her arms, and seriously nodded, ”Yes! I love Pokemon and want to live with Pichu always!”

Naoki said with a smile, ”Then, move forward with your feet on the ground! Take it and explore every corner of this world! Once you have enough strength, I will have a serious battle with you, until then, work hard!”

The girl looked serious, holding the bottles of milk, and nodded, ”Yes, I understand, thank you, Mr. Naoki!”
