Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 167: Modified: Volume 3 Chapter 52 Mecha Review_2

Christina walked to the door of Tian Xingjian’s room with a bounce in her step, and gently knocked. The moment she knocked, she suddenly felt a bit scared. What if the Fatty came out wearing only his underwear again?

Unfortunately, she was right. Fatty opened the door, still wearing just underwear and looking drowsy.

Christina sighed bitterly and was about to speak, but Fatty darted back into the room. She was slightly stunned. Did this guy actually feel embarrassed?

Testing the waters, she pushed the half-open door. Inside, the room was a mess, as if it had just been ransacked by robbers. After standing at the door for five minutes without seeing Fatty come out, Christina got a bit annoyed. Being a beautiful woman who had been the center of attention since she was young, she was quite confident in herself. She was also used to the appreciative or lecherous looks from men. But this was the first time she had encountered a man who entirely ignored her existence.

After patiently waiting a bit longer and still seeing no movement from Fatty, it seemed that it would take great patience to wait for him to invite her in. Helpless, Christina decided to walk into the room herself, picking up Fatty’s discarded clothes from the floor as she went.

As soon as she entered the room, Christina heard Fatty snoring. The tiny space, no more than a dozen square meters, was so cluttered that there was no place to step. On the bed, Fatty was sound asleep.

Seeing him wrapped up in his blanket like a tangled mess, Christina nearly lost her composure. So this guy had come back in just to sleep!

Fatty lay with half of his face squished on the pillow, sleeping soundly with his mouth wide open. Christina gently stamped her foot, resisting the urge to yank him up. Rolling up her sleeves, she deftly and skillfully tidied up the room, something she was used to doing from living independently. In a short time, she had the room spick and span.

She threw the dirty clothes into the washing machine, activated the automatic washing program on the central computer, and began to feel a bit sleepy herself. Working day and night for the past few days, she hadn’t slept in three days. Now that she felt relaxed, she couldn’t resist the sleepiness anymore. The room was unusually quiet, with only the ticking of the antique clock on the wall and an occasional snore from Fatty. Sitting comfortably on the sofa, the room gave her a subconscious sense of security. Usually strict about her manners, she unknowingly relaxed bit by bit, curled up on the sofa, and soon fell asleep.

Christina didn’t know how long she slept in a half-curled position, making her body a bit uncomfortable. Eventually, feeling cold, she randomly pulled over a blanket, which was warm and cozy.

Just when she fell back asleep for a while, blanket? Christina suddenly woke up, opened her eyes, and found herself and Fatty lying on the same bed. The blanket was entirely wrapped around her, while he was curled up pitifully with his back towards her, still asleep.

Oh no, she had climbed into the bed and even took his blanket. Her face flushed. Quickly and gently, she jumped out of the bed, gripping the blanket like a hot potato, unsure of what to do. She wanted to cover Fatty with it but feared waking him up and causing more awkwardness. Leaving it aside seemed heartless, seeing him curled up so pitifully.

While hesitating with the blanket, Fatty suddenly woke up. He sat up, wide-eyed, and exclaimed, ”How did you get in here? What are you doing? Why are you holding my blanket?” He looked like a victimized woman, terrified.

Christina was embarrassed and speechless. This guy was still in a sleep-dazed state, probably unaware that he had let her in. In her shame and anger, quick thinking surfaced, and she tossed the blanket onto him, angrily saying, ”Get up! Don’t you know today is the final testing of the Mecha? And here you are, sleeping like a log.”

Fatty pulled a bitter face and said, ”I haven’t slept in four days. I’ll die if I don’t sleep a bit more.” He looked at himself and pitifully added, ”Look, I’ve even lost weight.”

Christina fought the urge to laugh out loud or give this Fatty a beating. Pretending to be furious, face flushed, she said, ”Mr. Dell asked me to call you. Go or not, it’s up to you.” With that, she didn’t wait for a reply and stormed out of the room.

As soon as she reached the hallway of the lounge, Fatty’s shouts came from the room, ”Whose room is this? Don’t run! Where are my clothes? Who stole my clothes? There’s a thief!”

Two cleaning workers in the hallway looked at each other in confusion.

Christina lowered her head and hurried away.

She heard the door slam shut behind her, and a slight smile appeared on Fatty’s face.

Russell took the tea passed by Hamid and casually asked, ”Did you use Albert’s encryption machine to contact Tian?”

Hamid nodded and said, ”Yes, all the intelligence and data have been sent to him.”

Putting down the teacup, Russell smiled and said, ”Just by looking at this encryption machine, one has to admit that the technological level of the Leray Federation far surpasses that of the Gazalin Empire. What’s needed is just time to translate these technologies into military power. Especially with Leray’s powerful industrial support, it won’t be long before Gazalin is left far behind in this area.”
