Chapter 165: Volume 3 Chapter 51 Classic Modification Plan

Christina gracefully stepped onto the repair platform. The mechanics all noticed this elegant woman, gentle as a fairy. The originally silent six workstations became noisy, with everyone eagerly sharing their mature or immature modification plans. Tian Xingjian chuckled to himself: ”Men and women working together, efficiency doubles. Truly a wise saying.” Imagining male animals circling with heads held high to attract females while emitting frenzied roars, Fatty couldn’t help but tremble slightly in his face.

Christina quietly walked along the mechanical arm steps to Dell’s side, brushing her hair behind her ear and softly said, ”Mr. Dell, the boss asked me to also participate in this modification work.”

As the head of the technical department, Dell was well aware of Christina’s identity. Such conversations were long familiar to him. He immediately nodded and said, ”Alright, having you participate in this modification work was originally my suggestion. After all, you are also a Level 5 Mechanic, and this task requires everyone’s input.”

Christina pursed her lips in a slight smile and asked, ”Then, Mr. Supervisor, what should we do now?”

Dell scratched his head and laughed, ”You should first take a look at the information about this Mecha.” He pointed to Tian Xingjian and continued, ”The information is with Zhang Yuan. You two joined last, take a look together.”

Christina softly agreed and walked to Fatty’s side. Seeing Fatty look up, she smiled gently and sweetly at him, then lowered her head to habitually straighten her cascading hair, seriously familiarizing herself with the structures of [Vajra] alongside Fatty.

Fatty was only pretending to study the well-known diagrams. At this moment, smelling the fresh fragrance from Christina and catching glimpses of her snow-white delicate face, he felt slightly restless. He simply lifted his head and handed the electronic diagrams to Christina, laughing, ”You take a look, I’ve finished.”

Dell, hearing this, was startled, approached curiously, and said, ”Zhang, you’re amazing! How did you finish so quickly?”

Fatty laughed honestly, ”I’m fast at reading diagrams. Many say I’m smarter than others.”

”Pfft” Christina couldn’t help but laugh, and the mechanics, who had only seen her smile, were dumbstruck, feeling as if a brilliant flower had bloomed before them, petals looming under the sunlight, radiating brightness. Seeing her smile, Tian Xingjian also froze briefly, thinking of Ann Lei, who had the same gentle, clean, and exceptional smile. He’s already in Mezrich, where is she?

Seeing Christina lower her head earnestly to examine the structure diagrams, the mechanics realized the technical department was unnaturally quiet. They exchanged awkward glances, all the earlier excitement of submitting plans now fading. Only some seasoned mechanics calmly put forth suggestions based on their thoughts. Their opinions were rather unanimous; if the structure wasn’t altered, all the overhaul methods were just the same, having no significant effect on this Mecha, unable to fundamentally resolve its defects.

After discussing for half the day without results, Dell grew anxious, glancing at Christina just as she raised her head. Dell smiled, ”Finished reading? If so, go ahead and offer some suggestions, share your thoughts.”

Christina pondered for a moment and softly said, ”From the diagrams, it seems there’s no way to make modifications that meet the requirements. How about disassembling this Mecha, separating each system, and seeing if there are any modification possibilities.”

”Disassemble?” Dell didn’t expect Christina to make such a decision. It’s known that modifying and repairing a Mecha is relatively easy, and assembling a Private Mecha isn’t hard either, but without the technical department’s capability, such military Mechas with parts like the Energy Cannon, military energy shield, and military radar cannot be handled casually.

Seeing Dell’s hesitation, Christina naturally knew what he was thinking. She gently sighed, looking dejected, and said, ”To complete this task, disassembly is the only way. I also cannot find any modification methods to remedy the defects from the design diagrams. Disassembling it, even if it can’t be restored, won’t make things worse.”

Christina bit her lip lightly, disheartened by her unfamiliarity with military Mechas and saddened for her father. After working diligently for the Imperial Army Department for so many years, not only was he abruptly cast aside, but he also faced purging. The family, who reentered the noble ranks because of her father, is now panicked, with some relatives even starting to distance themselves from them. Even her mother and two brothers are constantly sighing and complaining.

Dell hesitated, knowing this was a critical moment for Holy Knight Company. If they pass, they would soar, but if not, they would fall to being a third-rate enterprise.

What he didn’t know was that what Christina was concerned about was not Holy Knight Company’s future, but the survival of the entire family. The perfect approach now was to use this opportunity to impress the Myth Legion’s Legion Commander Reinhardt and gain his protection. The Gazalin Empire’s technology level isn’t high; many technologies are imported. Reinhardt is known for preferring the Empire’s own scientists or teams. He spares no effort to protect those who contribute to the Myth Legion.

This [Vajra] Mecha is practically a heavenly-sent opportunity for the Gordon family. If they lose this chance to seek Reinhardt’s help, the only remaining option would be for Christina to sacrifice herself by marrying George, whom she doesn’t love.

Christina was full of worries at this moment. Although George seemed to like her on the surface, she knew him too well. What he wanted was nothing more than temporary pleasure. Moreover, even if they were willing to marry each other, if James expressed his disapproval, everything would come to naught.

For George, James’s words were like an imperial decree. There was no way he would oppose his father for the sake of a fallen ally. George might look idle all day long, but in reality, he understood more than anyone and was smarter than anyone. All he needed was to be a good son in front of James, and the throne of the future was certainly his.

In the technical department, there was complete silence. Everyone was waiting for Dell to make a decision.

At this time, a timid voice said: ”I... I think there’s no need to dismantle the entire mecha.”

Christina’s eyes lit up. She turned her head to see the mechanic named Zhang Yuan timidly raise his hand as if he were a schoolboy asking to speak, stammering with some hesitation.

Christina gently asked, ”What is your suggestion?”

Fatty took over the mecha design drawings from her hand, flipped to the detailed analysis of the transmission structure, and said: ”Look, the drive system of this mecha is hybrid-powered, which is actually not suitable for bipedal mechas. If we can modify the arm parts of this mecha to be like the forelimbs of a beast-shaped mecha...” He smiled and said, ”As you know, even real gorillas use their arms when running fast.”

Christina almost had to restrain herself from hugging and kissing this adorable Fatty. His words were a wake-up call from a dream. Although she didn’t have a comprehensive plan, the proposal itself broke through the traditional modification models of replacing parts, engines, and exterior devices. If realized, it would become a classic modification in the field! And this mecha, with its gorilla-like shape and hybrid drive, was practically designed for such a classic modification that transforms a human-shaped mecha into a beast-shaped one without altering the structure.

Dell also understood and excitedly asked, ”So, your plan is...”

Fatty pulled out the transmission diagram, cockpit diagram, control system diagram, and forearm design diagram, scratched his head, and said, ”No need to change the structure, just re-evaluate the center of gravity of this mecha, install a pendulum mechanical balancing system, and construct it as a beast-shaped mecha. The forelimbs need to change, but not much, just add transmission. The drive of the hind limbs needs revision to include a forward 0-90 degree bending angle, which is also easy. The remaining cockpit and weapon systems only need angle adjustments. This mecha already has wasted space; changing angles is just a bit of trouble, with virtually no difficulty. I just checked that making these changes would place the front of the chest toward the ground, allowing the external armor in this section to be swapped for a lighter version, lowering the overall weight. With the beast-shaped limb drive, balance is no problem, and inertia is very easy to control.”

”However...” Fatty bashfully said with a simple and honest look, ”The control systems will require significant changes. Altogether, these modifications are not easy. I’m quite dumb and could only think of this much.”

”Dumb?” Everyone thought this Fatty was incredibly sincere. He was a genius! Such an incredible modification method—forget about it being a bit troublesome—if it bankrupted the entire Holy Knight Company, as long as the modification succeeded, it would immediately become a classic in the modification world. With such fame, establishing another modification company would be a breeze! Who had ever heard of transforming a human-shaped mecha into a beast-shaped mecha?

Christina’s clear eyes were fixed tightly on this honest and shy Fatty. She felt that hiring this person was the most correct thing she’d ever done in her life. Everyone who knew her identity thought she was a genius in mechanics, but compared to him, she was nothing. In such a short time, he not only proposed such a brilliant plan but even arranged the modification steps! There was no need for feasibility studies; he had already given the answers. This kind of talent was the true genius!

The genius, with a bashful face, secretly chuckled to himself: ”If such a modification leads the Myth legion to continue equipping with these mechas, already thoroughly analyzed by the Federation, that would be perfect. If these were given to ordinary soldiers, ha, with the forelimbs as the main attack point plus auxiliary transmission, the required hand speed is not something regular soldiers can manage. This trick of mine is called killing multiple birds with one stone! Getting the benefit while playing the good guy!”
