Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

He’d heard from a friend that this security company was quite powerful, with extensive local connections. Its big boss was also a renowned figure back in China.

The man had even been a huge internet celebrity. Although his account was banned now, Li Hongfan had seen plenty of clips from his old videos.

From all appearances, he seemed like a trustworthy and upstanding young man, always eager to help others and do the right thing.

The most famous incident was when a fan’s younger brother went missing abroad. Lin Chu had personally put up a five-million reward and successfully brought him back.

He might have been doing it for the publicity, but he got real results!

And he had actually succeeded.

In Li Hongfan’s mind, Lin Chu had a very positive image and held a high standing.

”Um, excuse me, could I ask... are you having some kind of party in there? It sounds pretty lively...”

”I don’t mean anything by it, just curious. I’m a fan of your boss—have been since I was back in China. The head of your company is Lin Chu, right?”

Li Hongfan was trying to cozy up to him. The price was still a bit steep. While he could afford it, in this line of work, leveraging a personal connection would naturally make it a much better deal.

”I’m sorry, but that’s unrelated to your inquiry. I’m not at liberty to say. I hope you understand.”

The employee glanced at him and replied with a polite smile.

The employee knew exactly what this small-time boss was after.

’Don’t get personal. Bringing personal connections into it just complicates the money and creates trouble.’

’A straightforward transaction with a clear price, fair to everyone, is always best.’

’You pay the money, we risk our lives.’

”Haha, right, of course. I’ll just take a look at this first.”

Li Hongfan smiled sheepishly, figuring it was best not to press the issue, and went back to reading the agreement.

Just then,

The back door of the reception room was pushed open. Lin Chu walked in with Ma Teng, gave the room a casual glance, and headed toward the inner office.

’There were too many people out there. He needed to discuss something private with Ma Teng, and this was the only quiet place.’

”President Lin, Brother Teng.”

The employee saw them enter and quickly greeted them with a smile.

Li Hongfan looked up and instantly saw Lin Chu. He looked exactly the same as he did in the videos. Gritting his teeth, Li Hongfan shot to his feet.

’I can’t believe I’m actually seeing Lin Chu in person!’

’This is my chance, and it’s practically falling into my lap!’

The moment he saw Li Hongfan stand up and look like he was about to make a move, Ma Teng’s training kicked in. He instantly drew his handgun, its pitch-black muzzle aimed right at him.

Li Hongfan nearly pissed himself. He immediately threw his hands up, stammering, ”Don’t misunderstand! Don’t shoot! Pres—President Lin! Mr. Lin Chu, I’m a fan of yours...”

His face flushed instantly, and sweat poured down his back.

’That was terrifying.’

’This really is a top-tier security company. Their security awareness is incredible.’

Ma Teng stared at him with cold, hard eyes. ”Who are you?”

The employee next to them whispered, ”He’s a new client who just walked in. He’s reviewing the agreement.”

Ma Teng’s expression softened slightly, but he didn’t lower his weapon. He glanced at Lin Chu out of the corner of his eye, awaiting his orders.

Lin Chu smiled. ”Did you need something? If so, just say it. Things are a little complicated around here right now, so my guys are on high alert.”

Li Hongfan took a deep breath and forced a smile. ”I understand, I understand...”

’In a situation like this, how can I say something that will make this ”big shot” remember me and pique his interest?’

An idea quickly formed in his mind. He spoke rapidly, a smile on his face. ”President Lin, I’m a local merchant, originally from Guangdong Province back in China. I was wondering, is there a chamber of commerce here that protects ordinary small business owners like us? If not, sir, you should start one and be the chairman! I’d support you wholeheartedly!”

Oh?

Hearing this, Lin Chu was intrigued. He turned to Ma Teng. ”Are there chambers of commerce in Dubai?”

Ma Teng chuckled. ”There are, but the barrier to entry is high. They’re mostly run by the big, powerful families.”

”I’m busy at the moment, but have you eaten? Why don’t you stay and have a meal with us? We can talk in more detail later.”

An idea was already forming in Lin Chu’s mind. He smiled at Li Hongfan and extended the invitation to dinner.

This was more than Li Hongfan could have hoped for. ”Yes, of course! That would be great. Thank you, President Lin.”

”Great, we’ll talk later then.” Lin Chu then turned to the employee. ”Get him settled. He’ll be joining us for the meal.”

After giving the casual instruction to the employee, Lin Chu led Ma Teng into the inner office.

’A chamber of commerce...’

’That’s certainly an interesting idea, and a great channel to have.’

’Back in China, I always wanted to break into those kinds of circles.’

’But the chambers back home have been around forever, with deep-rooted and complex networks of connections. It would have been difficult for me to force my way in, and I didn’t really want to anyway. Playing the subservient role just isn’t my style.’

’There are bound to be chambers of commerce abroad too, but out here, money and power do the talking.’

’Having a security company gives me the ultimate advantage. For these entrepreneurs doing business overseas, wealth without security just makes them lambs for the slaughter.’

’If I could unite this group, there would be immense value in that.’

’Not just business value, but the value of the people themselves, the value of collaboration, of everyone pooling their resources.’

’With my current power, becoming a chairman would be no problem at all. And it’s a great way to make more allies.’

Watching Lin Chu’s retreating back, Li Hongfan’s face flushed, his heart pounding with excitement.

’I actually managed to connect with him!’

’This big boss is really just like the rumors say!’
