Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 575 -336: Once Brothers, Once Father and Son

‘Of course, there was no need to share these thoughts with Jiang Ya.’ He didn’t even let out a sigh. “He hasn’t called. Did he call you?”

Jiang Ya pressed her lips together and also shook her head gently.

“Brother Chu said his phone was being monitored, so he’s probably still dealing with that. He has bodyguards with him, so he should be fine. There are a lot of them, and they have guns. He’s definitely safe.”

“Let’s just wait a bit longer, maybe a couple more days. You shouldn’t worry too much, sir.”

“Earlier today, I even spoke with… uh, a woman I know over in Peng City. The company is operating normally. There are no problems at all.”

She said softly.

At the moment, this was the only comfort she could offer.

Lin Haifu’s expression was grim. He was silent for a moment, then gave a dry laugh and waved his hand. “Good. As long as there’s no problem. You get some rest. I’m going downstairs.”

He turned and left the room, lighting a cigarette and taking a deep drag.

‘I’m starting to regret it.’

‘A while back, my son told me he’d bought a huge villa in Xiangjiang and asked if I wanted to move in. I refused him outright. I’ve spent most of my life in this village. I’m old. Go to Xiangjiang? What for?’

‘Thinking about it now, if I had gone, maybe I could’ve been of some use. At least I’d know how to get out of the country. Maybe I could have helped somehow?’

‘Sigh… I’ve gotten lazy. I’m useless.’

As he reached the bottom of the stairs, his phone suddenly rang. Lin Haifu glanced at the screen—an unfamiliar international number. He froze for a second, then quickly answered. He hurried into an empty room and shut the door.

“Hello?”

“Dad, it’s me. Hehe. Things over here have just settled down for a bit. I’m calling to give you an update so you don’t worry.”

Lin Chu said with a playful grin.

Lin Haifu’s hand trembled slightly. His face flushed a visible shade of red as a thousand words surged in his chest. A string of curses nearly escaped his lips, but he managed to bite them back.

“So, you’re all right?”

He asked, forcing a calm tone. His throat felt tight.

“It’s settled for now, but not completely resolved. I’m in Dubai at the moment, staying at a local prince’s home. I’m perfectly safe… You really don’t have to worry.”

“But I’m short-staffed right now. I need a lot of people for a big project. Could you find me some guys? Young, strong, and quick-witted. Most importantly, they have to be trustworthy.”

“As for money, tell them they’ll get five hundred thousand a year, no problem. I’ll pay them more than enough.”

Lin Chu said with a laugh. He could roughly sense his father’s emotional state but didn’t say much more about it. The best way to comfort him was to let him feel that he was still useful and could help.

Lin Haifu took a deep breath. “How many people do you need? What are you planning to do?”

“I’m just starting a company, a logistics business. And bringing a few of the younger guys over. That should put your mind at ease, right? If anything happens, they can let you know right away…”

“As for the number, you decide. Quality over quantity. If they’re not reliable, I’ll just send them back.”

Lin Chu still spoke with a laugh, his tone deliberately light.

Anyway, whenever he called home, he always put on a front of being confident and in complete control.

“Alright, I’ll get right on finding them for you. You… are you coming back for the New Year? Your birthday is coming up soon, too. Dad… Dad won’t nag you about getting married anymore. You… just don’t run off so far all the time. Come back and visit when you’re free, you hear me?”

He said, his words coming out in fits and starts.

On the other end of the line, Lin Chu’s eyes suddenly reddened. His sharp Adam’s apple bobbed. “Okay, I know. I’ll come back for the New Year. I promise.”

“Is the ancestral hall repaired? How does it look? Take a picture and show me… Here, wait a sec. I’ll add you on WeChat. Let’s do a video call so I can see it.”

Suppressing his emotions, Lin Chu lit a cigarette, hung up the phone, added his dad on WeChat, and started a video call.

“Whoa, what happened to you? Where did all this white hair come from? You been drinking too much? You should cut back on the smokes, too…”

Looking at his dad on the screen, whose temples had become quite gray, Lin Chu teased him with a “heartless” smile.

Lin Haifu fell silent for a moment. Normally, he would have started cursing up a storm. Now, however, he just replied sullenly, “Don’t be daft. When people get old, their hair turns white. What’s not to get?”

“Let me see. Where are you staying now? Have you eaten? What did you eat?”

Lin Chu flipped the camera and showed him the luxurious mansion, smiling with no small amount of pride. “Steak, caviar, a huge mansion you couldn’t buy for hundreds of millions, and I’ve got a plane, a yacht, a security team at the house, young and beautiful maids from all over the world…”

Lin Haifu: …

‘You little brat. With all that, you couldn’t even bother to call home?’

But in the end, he didn’t say the words out loud. Even those videos on TikTok said it: behind the glamour, there’s either great hardship or great filth.

‘To make that much money… how much must he have suffered?’
