Reborn As Super Heiress

Du Wenfeng nodded, and only then remembered what his secretary had said earlier:

”You said Miss Huo is surrounded over there — what exactly is going on?”

Secretary Fan finally remembered, and his whole body suddenly tensed up:

”Right, she’s surrounded. A lot of thugs seem to have shown up over there, looks like they’re trying to mess with Miss Huo. Secretary Du, we’ve got to get people over there fast to deal with it, otherwise Miss Huo’s in danger!”

Hearing this, Du Wenfeng’s heart gave a heavy thump, his vision went black for a moment, and his whole heart sank:

”What did you say?!”

He had just learned that he’d stumbled onto a huge opportunity: getting to meet the god?granddaughter of a top leader. If he could make that big shot happy, then his position might be able to budge upward.

Du Wenfeng had just been thrilled at this news, only for his secretary to dump a huge bucket of ice water over his head, drenching him all the way through.

Surrounded and attacked by a bunch of punks — if anything really happened to her, he could forget about getting promoted; he’d probably be packing his bags and rolling straight back home.

”Public security in Luohua County is under Xu Zehua, right? What the hell is this Xu guy doing, does he still want his job or not?!”

Du Wenfeng’s face went iron?blue as he all but reflexively picked up his phone to call Tan Minghui, while shouting at the driver up front:

”Xiao Liu, speed up to Xiakan Village in Luohua County. Ignore the red lights, just drive — fast!”

Xiao Liu hadn’t said a word, but as a full?time driver for a leader, he was very good at reading faces. He’d heard the conversation between Du Wenfeng and Fan Yueran just now, so he naturally understood how serious this was. Even without Du’s instruction, his foot was already flooring the gas pedal, and the Audi shot forward at high speed.

On the other side, the situation had already reached a boiling point. After finishing Fan Yueran’s phone call, Huo Sining actually let out a silent breath of relief.

She knew in her heart that with just her and Wu Jun, there was no way they could do much to this crowd of gangsters.

But now even the secretary to the Dali City Party Secretary had called — that showed that Gu Xu must have already notified people up in Yun Province.

She believed it wouldn’t be long before this Du Wenfeng or whatever his name was would come over. As long as she held out a little longer here, once the city Party Secretary arrived on scene, this Brother De would be completely done for.

A cold glint flashed in Huo Sining’s eyes. She gave Wu Jun a signal, and the two of them simply opened the gatehouse door and calmly walked out.

Wu Jun instinctively moved in front of Huo Sining, positioning himself before the crowd of thugs.

At this moment the yard was packed with big men in black suits, each one covered in tattoos, weapons in hand, glaring viciously at the two people who had just come out.

And in the middle of this pack of gangsters, a middle?aged man in Tang?style clothing stood like the moon surrounded by stars. He looked extremely sinister and imposing — clearly the boss of this bunch.

No need to guess; this was the name those security guards and Brother Hao had mentioned the most: Brother De.

Huo Sining’s gaze swept up and down Brother De’s body. Just from what she saw, she could clearly feel the cold, ruthless aura coming off him. This was a hard case — that was her first impression of the man.

Lei De’s eyes also roamed brazenly over Wu Jun and the Huo Sining standing behind him. Finally his gaze locked on Wu Jun’s face, and he turned his head to ask the person beside him:

”Is he the one who came to cause trouble?”

Standing next to Lei De was a little underling with bruises all over his face — the security team captain whom Wu Jun had slapped twice that morning.

Now that the captain finally felt someone was backing him up, his face was full of smugness and hatred toward Wu Jun. He nodded repeatedly and said:

”That’s him. As soon as this bastard came into the park he started digging up our tea garden’s tea trees, then he attacked the security team and injured all the guys Brother Hao brought. He insisted on seeing you and said he wanted to settle scores with you. Brother De, this punk is asking to die. You definitely can’t let him off easy!”

A savage glint flashed in Lei De’s eyes. He lifted the cigar in his hand to his mouth and took a drag, then pointed at Wu Jun and said coolly:

”He hit my people; of course it can’t just be brushed off. First break both his hands. Don’t you dare hurt the woman behind him — she’s pretty decent?looking. I’ve taken a liking to her!”

The group of black?clad bruisers burst out laughing: ”Got it! We’ll definitely keep her intact for you, Boss!”

As they spoke, a dozen of the big men in front tightened their grips on steel pipes and machetes and began to close in on Wu Jun with ill intent.

Wu Jun had already squared up, ready to charge in swinging, but when Huo Sining heard Lei De’s insulting words, there was no way she could hold back. She reached out and grabbed Wu Jun.

”Wait! You step aside and take a break!”

Wu Jun froze, not yet understanding what she meant. Then he saw a flash in front of him — Huo Sining had already reached behind into the backpack on her shoulders and smoothly drawn a sleek Browning.

With a crisp click, Huo Sining expertly chambered a round, a faintly mocking smile appearing on her face.

She slowly raised her head and leveled the compact Browning pistol, speaking in a relaxed, steady tone to the gangsters closing in:

”If you’re not afraid of dying, go ahead and come over here and try me.”

These black?clad bruisers had been running wild for years. In Luohua County, as long as they invoked Brother De’s name, there was almost no one who dared mess with them. So it had never occurred to them that they’d run into something like this.

Seeing a gun in Huo Sining’s hand, the gangsters were suddenly rattled. They all instinctively stopped in their tracks, staring at her in shock and uncertainty — nobody dared step past the line.

Lei De over there was a bit surprised too. His eyebrows lifted, his eyes narrowed slightly, and his gaze locked hard onto the gun in Huo Sining’s hand.

In the car, Ye Yuhai, Jian Feng, and Jiang Wei, who had been sitting quietly, were also somewhat taken aback. They were just there to watch the show; they’d originally wanted to see how Lei De disciplined people, but they hadn’t expected this kind of twist.

Ye Yuhai’s lips curled up into a hint of amused smile:

”Interesting. Didn’t expect to run into a little firecracker. This chick’s got something — and she looks pretty good too.”

A wicked grin flashed in Ye Yuhai’s eyes. Jiang Wei, who knew him well, immediately understood — this guy had probably taken an interest in that woman too.

Jian Feng beside them didn’t say anything. He was just there for the spectacle, but he wasn’t like Ye Yuhai. Ye Yuhai had a lot of men under him and controlled local public security, so of course he could act without scruples.

Jian Feng was different. All he had was that little patch of turf at the Bureau of Industry and Commerce. People had to come begging him before he could put on airs. When it came to rallying people to rough someone up, Ye Yuhai was the real expert.
