Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2466: Chapter 2369: Drink Their Blood, Eat Their Flesh

Of course, that’s not the point today. What Huo Sining is concerned about now is not how old that Green Feng Line Snake is, but what to do with this woman, Saiji.

After all, she came here today with the intention to send Saiji back to her hometown to find her people. But now, things have gone awry. Not only has she failed to locate Saiji’s hometown, she has learned the news that her people were annihilated. To Saiji, a woman who already lost her brother, this news is like a bolt from the blue.

Even Huo Sining, an outsider, feels compassion for Saiji’s rough fate. Just reaching adulthood, she was captured by Ge Hong to serve as the focal point for his cultivation, witnessed her brother’s brutal murder, was imprisoned for over sixteen hundred years in that deep pool, barely rescued to return home, only to find everything changed, with her people gone.

Such a series of blows, if one’s mental resilience were slightly weaker, might prove unbearable, leading one to wish for death.

However, perhaps due to the trials she endured under Ge Hong’s hands and being imprisoned in that dark ancient tomb for over a thousand years, Saiji’s disposition has been honed to be exceptionally resilient, her inner strength far surpassing that of ordinary people.

At least, as far as Huo Sining can tell from the current situation, the woman’s condition is fairly normal, not particularly dire. Despite her face showing signs of dejection and grief, with her eyes constantly bloodshot, Huo Sining believes that being able to express emotions is positive, indicating she can still maintain control over herself.

“The dead cannot be revived. You must constrain your grief. Maybe your people are watching over you from heaven. If they knew you are still alive, they’d certainly be glad for you.”

Although Saiji’s people are gone, Huo Sining is not as shocked and saddened as Saiji. On one hand, she is not a half-mermaid and can’t empathize as Saiji does. On the other hand, she knows very well that apart from Saiji’s people, there are other half-mermaids in the world.

At least, as far as she knows, her father, Liang Ruining, and her grandmother, Huang Chengxiang, are partially evolved half-mermaids. Back at the sunken underground maze, she gleaned from her father Liang Ruining’s words that their current location likely hosts more than just the two of them; other half-mermaids are also present.

This was the first solution Huo Sining thought of immediately after learning of the significant upheaval among Saiji’s people.

Saiji’s appearance doomed her to be unable to stay by Huo Sining’s side like Yue Shuwen, Zhong Xiaoyao, and others. Yue Shuwen and Zhong Xiaoyao, once provided with an identity, can accompany Huo Sining like ordinary people without arousing outsider suspicion.

But Saiji is different. Her facial gills and scales on her body cannot be concealed. Slight neglect could expose her identity, so Huo Sining can’t allow her to take risks.

The only solution is to contact her father and hand Saiji over to him to take her away.

At least for now, her father and grandmother should have the capability and method to hide identities without being discovered. Entrusting Saiji to him should be the most prudent and safest measure.

Saiji is unaware of Huo Sining’s thoughts and remains in a daze, barely reacting to Huo Sining’s comforting words. Yet she isn’t dazed; she’s recalling what Grandfather Jiashu once said to her.

Soon, she extracted crucial information from Grandfather Jiashu’s words, slowly turned to look at Huo Sining, and suddenly asked:

“When I was at your home, I heard you discussing with your husband and others about the dead man named Fujiwara Seiho in the tomb. Was that man from Dongying?”

Huo Sining was taken aback and quickly nodded: “We now call it Dongyang, but over a thousand years ago, Dongyang was indeed Dongying. Why? Is there a problem?”

Saiji’s face darkened and her jaw clenched, seemingly using great effort to restrain her emotions:

“Grandfather Jiashu said that my people were harmed by Dongying people! About seventy years ago, someone unfortunate from my people was captured by Dongying people, and those cold-blooded animals directly experimented on my people, injecting a strange bacterial virus into their bodies.”

“That member of my people struggled desperately to escape from those Dongying people to stay alive. But who knew that such an escape would bring crisis to the entire group.”

“Returning home, that member died of illness but the virus spread exponentially, infecting the entire group.”

“Finding no solution for the virus, the remaining members naturally couldn’t escape the clutches and died one after another.”

“These damn Dongying people are who ruined my entire family!”

Saiji’s face twisted; despite her exquisite features, her hate-filled expression was far from flattering. Coupled with her gill shells flaring open, it looked especially grim. Anyone ordinary witnessing it would surely be startled.

Huo Sining, however, stood somewhat stunned, struck by Saiji’s sudden revelation.

Seventy years ago, Dongying people, live experimentation, wasn’t that…?

For some reason, upon hearing Saiji’s words, Huo Sining quickly extracted crucial information. Her mind linked it with another event from a special period.

Yue Shuwen grew up in America and wasn’t particularly familiar with Hua Country’s history, so Saiji’s words didn’t strike much of a chord with her.

But Zhong Xiaoyao obviously linked the matter with Huo Sining, practically lifting her head to look towards Huo Sining in astonishment.

The two locked eyes, clearly understanding the meaning in each other’s gaze.

Seventy years ago coincided with Dongyang’s invasion of Hua Country, during which many horribly inhumane events that stay engraved in one’s heart occurred. These include the Jinling Massacre, naturally encompassing Unit 731 experiment events.

And in this terrifying, utterly ruthless experimentation, aside from poison gas and live burial, the most infamous might just be the bacterial virus Saiji mentioned.

But Huo Sining never imagined that Saiji’s people were destroyed because of this reason.

No wonder Saiji grits her teeth in anger whenever Dongyang people are mentioned, craving for their blood and flesh!
