Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2470: Chapter 2373: Captured

Returning to the lakeside villa, Gu Xu had already received the news and sent Auntie Li away early on. Otherwise, if Huo Sining were to return with Saiji like this, Saiji would probably have to stay in the storage ring again.

Auntie Li seemed to understand that there were some matters between Huo Sining and her husband that were inconvenient for her to know about. So whenever Gu Xu sent her out or suddenly gave her a day off, she would never press for reasons but would sensibly tidy up and leave.

This was one of the reasons why Huo Sining continued to employ this auntie. Although she was only in her forties, she was very perceptive, never asking unnecessary questions, but still cared deeply for Huo Sining’s health, treating Huo Sining like her own daughter.

An in-house helper who doesn’t meddle but still treats you like family is hard to come by. Therefore, Huo Sining was never stingy with Auntie Li, giving her a high salary and very flexible working hours.

In fact, Huo Sining didn’t spend much time living in the Magic Capital, but Auntie Li was paid year-round. Earlier, when Auntie Li’s daughter got married and bought a house, Huo Sining provided some support.

Of course, ‘an ounce of help creates a pound of grudge’, and Huo Sining didn’t want to create enmity by interacting with others. Luckily, Auntie Li had a good character, and her daughter was also sensible, never trying to cling to Huo Sining or dig for information from Auntie Li about her affairs. She was even afraid that mentioning any connection to Huo Sining outside might give others the wrong idea and upset Huo Sining.

An in-house helper like this is indeed rare. Reciprocating kindness, Huo Sining certainly wouldn’t treat her unfairly.

With this virtuous cycle, Auntie Li naturally put even more heart into her work with Huo Sining. After all, even when she worked at the Su Family, she never received such treatment.

When she worked for Secretary Su’s family, she had to report daily and couldn’t miss any of the three meals a day. But at Huo Sining’s, sometimes Huo Sining wouldn’t return for months on end, while Auntie Li was still paid while living in a big villa, leading quite the comfortable life.

So as soon as Gu Xu mentioned a day off, Auntie Li happily packed her bag and left, cheerfully returning to her daughter’s place. Her daughter had recently given birth to a son, so when Huo Sining didn’t need her, it was the perfect time to help her daughter with the baby.

After Huo Sining and her group returned to the villa, before she had time to tell Gu Xu about what happened at sea, she received a call from Zhang Shuang.

“Caught him? That was fast, how is he?”

Huo Sining’s eyes lit up, her mouth forming a smile unconsciously.

“Alright, I understand. You guys handle the rest. If there’s anything you can’t resolve, consult Bai Buzhi. The old man knows a lot; if you’re humble, he probably won’t put on airs and will definitely help you out.”

“How to write the report? Isn’t that what you police are good at? I don’t know about that, figure it out yourselves.”

After hanging up the phone, Gu Xu seemed to have guessed it, smiling as he asked, “Did they catch Yu Xinhua?”

Huo Sining nodded: “Whether the one caught is Yu Xinhua or Ge Hong is still uncertain, but you won’t believe how he was caught; it’ll make you laugh to death!”

Gu Xu raised an eyebrow, and Huo Sining couldn’t help but continue: “Apparently, this person hid in the mountains for several days, and, starving, he came down the mountain just by chance. Passing by a bakery, he smelled the aroma of fresh bread and couldn’t resist smashing the store’s glass display with a brick.”

“He grabbed a few loaves, eating as he ran, but failed to run more than a few hundred meters before being chased down by the store owner on an electric scooter, who caught him and took him straight to the police station.”

Huo Sining’s description immediately reminded everyone in the room of a comedic scene from a movie, and they all couldn’t help but laugh.

Even Huo Sining couldn’t help but chuckle: “It’s said that after getting to the police station, he was speaking in ancient scripts, leaving the officers confused with questions, leading them to verify his identity, and discovering he was actually the suspect the detective bureau was recently chasing. He was promptly handed over to Guo Dongliang and his team.”

Hearing this, Huo Sining felt a bit of sympathy: “Zhang Shuang said, after escaping from the ancient tomb, this person had nothing to eat and survived by gnawing on tree roots in the mountains, holding out until he couldn’t anymore.”

“His initial plan was to come down and find an inn’s kitchen to steal some food, but to his surprise, after coming down, he found out the world had changed drastically. The inns, pawnshops, and post stations he knew were gone, replaced by strange four-wheeled beasts running on the roads. It scared him stiff, leaving him utterly confused as to where he was.”

Huo Sining’s description had Yue Shuwen and the others in stitches, but beside them, Saiji remained expressionless, simply fixing her gaze on Huo Sining: “This person, the authorities, um, that is, the detective bureau, what will they do with him?”

Huo Sining shrugged with a smile: “This person was already barely alive upon entering the police station. Zhang Shuang likely consulted with Bai Buzhi, and judging by Bai Buzhi’s take, Ge Hong is probably working for nothing this time.”

“If he starves for another day or two, this guy really might die. The soul taking over can’t outmatch the original body; within a day or two, Yu Xinhua will probably return, and the world may never hear of Ge Hong again.”

Saiji appeared to have foreseen this outcome, showing no surprise, but she still seemed uneasy and added:

“Though I don’t understand the secret techniques of Daoism, Ge Zhichuan is not a simple character. He’s cunning and sly, definitely not the type to sit and await death. You cannot let your guard down, beware of any other tricks he might play!”

Huo Sining’s expression turned serious, thinking of the previous incident with the corpse and recalling how this old ghost almost did away with Bai Buzhi in the ancient tomb, she understood Saiji’s concerns.

Although this old guy was trapped in the ancient tomb for over seventeen hundred years, his power was extraordinary and truly formidable. A little carelessness might lead to negligence, and this guy could escape once more!

Feeling a chill in her heart, Huo Sining immediately picked up her phone to call Bai Buzhi, conveying her suspicions and concerns about Ge Hong.

Though Bai Buzhi somewhat disapproved of Huo Sining’s cautiousness, he still nodded seriously, assuring that he would prepare and not let Ge Hong off so easily this time.
