Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 2468: Chapter 2371: Collecting Some Interest

As soon as Huo Sining spoke, Saiji’s expression darkened, and she abruptly raised her head, glaring at Huo Sining with resentment:

“I want revenge, but how to get revenge? It’s been over seventy years, and whether the people who did these things are still alive is uncertain!”

Huo Sining sneered: “You’re wrong. The hierarchy in Dongyang is strict. When Dongyang invaded Hua Country, they also established Unit 731 to conduct live experiments on people in Hua Country. But I have reviewed relevant materials and learned that while the Dongyang Imperial Army executed these acts, the real behind-the-scenes controllers were actually the financial powers within Dongyang.”

“And these financial powers in Dongyang are ultimately hindered by the Dongyang Iga-ryu.”

“Although I don’t know if your people were connected to Iga-ryu back then, you need to know one more thing: Iga-ryu to this day still conducts live experiments on Jiaoren, and earlier had captured a half-mermaid for dissection research.”

“If it weren’t for my brother and another companion discovering the dealings of Iga-ryu, and tracing down that underground laboratory, that half-mermaid would have probably been killed.”

“My brother blew up that laboratory, but given Iga-ryu’s power, they definitely built more than one laboratory, and will certainly keep researching relentlessly.”

“Of course, this isn’t the main point. The main point is that Iga-ryu’s interest in half-mermaids and Jiaoren, seventy years ago, likely stems from capturing your people, allowing them to uncover the secrets of half-mermaids and Jiaoren. These Dongyang people thus conducted live research madly, trying to unravel the mysteries of Jiaoren.”

“So I suspect that Iga-ryu is the culprit behind the demise of your people.”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Saiji’s face went ashen: “Is what you said true?”

Huo Sining nodded: “I have no reason to deceive you, and I can help you continue to investigate. If it turns out that this matter is indeed related to Iga-ryu, then I think you can look forward to getting revenge.”

“The people who perpetrated these actions back then might be dead, but Iga-ryu still exists, and their descendants surely benefited from the deeds of those days.”

“Since that’s the case, debts have a head and grievances a master. Retaliating against their descendants wouldn’t be wrong!”

Saiji agreed deeply, speaking somberly: “You’re right. If those past affairs are really connected to Iga-ryu, then even by retaliating against their descendants, it’s only what they deserve. The debt of the father should be paid by the son, a principle that is universally acknowledged!”

Huo Sining then remembered some amusing affair, couldn’t help but smile:

“You’re right, the debt of the father should be paid by the son. If that’s the case, then the death of Fujiwara Seiho in the heart of the array was truly deserved, nothing unfair about it.”

Saiji was taken aback: “What do you mean?”

Huo Sining shrugged with a smile: “Remember that Dongyang person who tried to capture Qibao and ended up in your Gathering Yin Formation, turned into a dried corpse by the Array. Haha, that guy was the Young Sect Master of Iga-ryu. Coincidental, isn’t it?”

“That’s why I say there’s divine justice in the universe. This Iga-ryu harmed your people, and Heaven made their Young Sect Master pay with his life for you. It’s indeed the Heavenly Dao’s good cycle; no one is spared by the blue sky.”

“However, the lives of so many of your people—just one Fujiwara Seiho—of course, isn’t enough. Consider it as collecting some interest first, with the rest dealt with slowly!”

Saiji nodded. Because Huo Sining had laid out a grand vision for her, she now had a goal in life. The previously dejected half-mermaid instantly became invigorated, her eyes shining brightly, evidently throwing herself into the grand endeavor of revenge.

“Thank you, Miss Huo!”

Saiji gazed deeply at Huo Sining. She wasn’t foolish and naturally understood why Huo Sining was doing this, but she also recognized that Huo Sining’s intentions were for her benefit, hence she earnestly expressed her gratitude to Huo Sining.

Although Saiji’s initial seduction of Gu Xu upon first meeting had left Huo Sining somewhat displeased, these few days of interaction had allowed Huo Sining to gain some understanding of this female half-mermaid.

She was a woman very attuned to the times and adept at assessing circumstances—wise and astute—and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her aims. Yet, up to this point, she was still a woman who understood gratitude.

Compared to those silly, naive altruistic types, Huo Sining preferred dealing with women like Saiji, who were easier to control, whereas the seemingly easy-to-handle naive altruists might unexpectedly ruin one’s plans with their overflowing compassion.

Huo Sining waved her hand: “You don’t need to be too distressed. There might be something I haven’t told you yet. Although your people are gone, it doesn’t mean you lack kin in the world.”

At Huo Sining’s words, Saiji shuddered and abruptly raised her head, her eyes blazing as she stared at Huo Sining, surprise and uncontrollable joy in her gaze:

“You mean…”

Huo Sining nodded: “You should remember, I just told you, my brother and my companion blew up one of Iga-ryu’s underground research labs and rescued a half-mermaid from it.”

“The condition of that half-mermaid may not be ideal, but at least there’s hope, he survived.”

“Additionally, another situation is that my father and my grandmother, well, yes, they are also half-mermaids.”

Saiji was astonished to hear this, promptly interrupting Huo Sining:

“Wait, what did you say? Miss Huo, you must be mistaken—half-mermaids coupling with half-mermaids cannot produce pureblooded merfolk; it’s a matter of genetics. If your father and grandmother are half-mermaids, then how…”

Huo Sining waved her hand, smiling: “The origins behind this are quite complex, but you heard right; my father and grandmother are indeed half-mermaids, yet I have another heritage.”

Seeing this, Saiji didn’t pursue further questioning. She hailed from the Witch Clan and naturally knew that the Jiaoren had many special secret techniques; she’d heard the term ‘heritage’ from her grandmother when she was young. But at that time, her grandmother thought she should first learn the basic secret techniques, so Saiji only knew a little about advanced matters.

Yet no one anticipated that the separation at eighteen would be eternal.

Otherwise, her grandmother, even if rushed, would’ve surely taught her everything she knew thoroughly. Knowing full well she couldn’t learn much, at least she wouldn’t have taken those secret techniques to the grave with regret.

Thinking of this, Saiji couldn’t help but recall her grandmother, father, and mother, her gaze dimming.
