Reborn As Super Heiress

Hearing the young man’s words, the woman who was about to leave immediately turned back, looking somewhat surprised at the man: ”What’s the matter, sir?”

The man chuckled, glanced at Su Anning standing nearby, and said:

”I think you should first check if anything like money or cards is missing from your wallet. These pickpockets are very slick. Although I helped you catch the person in time, who knows if he took the opportunity right under our noses to transfer the contents of the wallet elsewhere!”

Upon hearing the young man’s words, the beautiful woman was suddenly startled, as if she had thought of something. She hurriedly took out her wallet, opened it, and her expression changed dramatically.

The young man nearby noticed this and couldn’t help but frown, hurriedly asking:

”What’s wrong? Could it be that I was right, and the thief did manage to take the money when we weren’t paying attention?”

The young woman suddenly looked up, giving the man a bitter smile. She took a deep breath to calm her emotions before nodding and replying:

”You were right. I originally had more than three thousand in cash in this wallet, and now there are only a few dozen left. The cards are still there, but all the cash is gone...”

As she spoke, the beautiful woman dumped out all the contents of the wallet. Now everyone around could see that there were indeed only a few one, ten, and twenty bills left in the wallet, with no hundred-yuan red bills at all.

Seeing this situation, the crowd suddenly broke into a commotion.

The man saw this and couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh, turning to glare sharply at Su Anning, exclaiming:

”I was really right! You really are dishonest! I’ve been keeping an eye on you, and I still didn’t catch the moment you took the money out of the wallet! You’re quite capable!”

The beautiful woman’s expression became somewhat unpleasant too, staring at Su Anning: ”Little sister, I think you should return the money to me. I originally had three thousand five hundred in hundred-yuan cash in the wallet, and you’ve taken it all! One should always leave room to maneuver; what you’re doing is too much!”

Su Anning was completely bewildered. Her face was pale, and she urgently exclaimed: ”I really didn’t take your money. I only have a little over a thousand in total on me. If you don’t believe me, I can take it out for you to see!”

Su Anning really couldn’t understand how she ended up in this situation just by strolling down the street. Now, with this man holding her arm so she couldn’t move or even make a phone call, otherwise she would have asked her family for help. With so many onlookers, she was completely panicked and could only desperately defend herself, her words tinged with a strong sob.

However, at this point, not only the man and woman but even the surrounding crowd, did not believe her.

The man directly sneered and exposed:

”You petty thieves are best at stealing and hiding things. In just a blink, you can easily take the money from the wallet. Who knows where you stashed it now.”

”And besides, it’s not like the old times now. Everyone knows that you little thieves have accomplices. For all we know, one of your accomplices could be in this crowd, and you’ve already secretly transferred the money to them. Would you be foolish enough to leave it in your pocket and let us catch you red-handed?”

The surrounding crowd nodded in agreement upon hearing the man’s words:

”Exactly, this handsome guy is right. These thieves have numerous tricks, impossible to guard against!”

”Everyone be a little careful, see if there are any suspicious people around, don’t let them take advantage of us. It’s not worth losing anything for watching this commotion!”

”This little girl is too dishonest, better call the police quickly!”

The man also sneered repeatedly and turned to the beautiful woman beside him, saying:

”These uncles and aunties are right. Miss, I think you should directly call the police and let them handle it. This thief won’t shed a tear until seeing the coffin; since she refuses to admit it, just let the police interrogate her! Three thousand is not a small amount; she absolutely shouldn’t get off easy!”

The beautiful woman seemed somewhat hesitant when she heard this, looking sideways at Su Anning, hesitated for a moment, and then said somewhat reluctantly:

”Little girl, you hear this, if you don’t return the money to me, then I’ll have no choice but to call the police and let them handle it!”

At this point, the woman paused, looked Su Anning up and down, and continued:

”Judging by your age, you should still be in college, right? Which university in Imperial Capital do you attend? I actually don’t want to make a big deal out of this, but if I report it to the police, you’ll end up in custody, and the police will definitely notify your family and school. It might even go on your record, possibly affecting your studies and your family’s reputation, wouldn’t you agree?”

Su Anning originally had no intention of admitting to anything. Feeling so wronged, she just wanted to find her family to solve this because she had no means of saving herself.

When she heard the woman mention calling the police, her first thought was to agree, as it seemed to her that entering the police station was the most effective solution; otherwise, she had no way to explain herself when her word alone couldn’t clear her name. The onlookers had already unanimously assumed she was a thief, and no amount of arguing could change that.

However, when the woman continued, mentioning that being taken into custody would affect her family’s reputation, Su Anning’s expression suddenly froze.

She then remembered that she was part of a reputable family, as the granddaughter of Master Su Zhongqing. If she were caught as a thief and taken to the police station, it would not only be a blow to her but also tarnish the reputation of her grandfather, Su Zhongqing.

With this in mind, Su Anning’s expression showed some panic. The Su Family was a well-known, hereditary family in Imperial Capital; she couldn’t tarnish its reputation over such a trivial matter. Who knows, her peers might mock her if it got out—it would be too embarrassing.

Su Anning’s lips tightened, staring with some frustration and annoyance at the relentless man and woman in front of her.

Seeing Su Anning’s nervous expression, the woman thought her words had genuinely frightened the young girl before her and was secretly delighted. She instinctively exchanged glances with the man beside her, silently communicating.
