Reborn As Super Heiress

Don’t be fooled by the size of this rented store; it looks like it cost a lot, but compared to the profits made from selling raw materials, the initial expenses are just a drop in the bucket.

Huo Sining did some calculations. If things continue at this rate, the stock in the shop and the courtyard will sell out in less than three months. By then, the owner won’t even need to renew the lease; they can just pack up and leave.

After deducting the costs, they’re likely to make at least a few million in those three short months.

As for those who ordered custom jadeite jewelry, they’re truly out of luck.

Huo Sining is certain the store owner charges a hefty deposit for custom orders. Three months later, the jewelry won’t be delivered, and the store will have already closed, leaving customers unable to find anyone.

Huo Sining had seen this pattern once before in the Magic Capital. Two years ago, she witnessed several people from Tengchong holding a tournament there, simultaneously stirring up resentment and promoting themselves.

The tournament involved pricing jadeite raw stones and allowing participants to choose and gamble on the raw materials. If the jadeite they revealed was worth more than the marked price, the gambler won and could take the material for free. Otherwise, they had to pay for it.

The Tengchong people didn’t mark the prices unreasonably, but one gamble expert in their group could accurately judge the quality and size of the jadeite inside the stones, leading to many participants failing and leaving defeated.

If it weren’t for Huo Sining shutting it down, these Tengchong people might have dominated the entire Magic Capital.

It was a scam, exploiting tournaments and gambler psychology to draw jade gambling enthusiasts in droves and the more resentment they generated, the more money they made. Eventually, they could move elsewhere in the country and repeat the process.

However, such scams only catch willing participants. Even though the marketing had a little trickery, at least those raw materials were real, and it was a matter of evaluating the gambler’s discernment.

But this shop here was doing something entirely different from those Tengchong folks’ tournaments.

Those Tengchong people only schemed in secret, but this store owner was blatantly faking and selling transformed waste materials as raw stones, deceiving consumers, which is essentially fraud!

Initially, Huo Sining thought if the shop owner was a regular raw material wholesaler doing legitimate business, she wouldn’t sabotage it openly. But finding this shady operation, it became inevitable that she had to intervene.

After all, she had been in this field for a long time and had never seen any raw material dealer dare to act so recklessly. Moreover, this was in the Imperial Capital, right under the emperor’s watch, blatantly challenging authority and disrespecting the China Jade Association.

Originally, Huo Sining wanted to buy some raw materials from this shop to satisfy her gambling itch. But seeing this, she became so angry that she lost any desire to gamble.

She seriously doubted the authenticity of the store’s advertised case where someone allegedly unlocked jadeite worth a million. She guessed that piece had nothing to do with this stock in the shop and was likely a setup by the store.

With her nature, once she gambled, she would only take action if she saw something good. If she found quality material in this shop and unlocked it, wouldn’t it be like giving free advertising? It could attract more people and help this fraud sell more raw materials. Huo Sining wouldn’t assist in this nefarious business.

Scoffing coldly to herself, Huo Sining stood up and told Yingzi and the accompanying store clerk, ”Let’s go, we’re leaving.”

The store clerk was taken aback and then asked, ”Aren’t you going to try gambling on at least one piece?”

Huo Sining smiled and shook her head, ”These materials don’t catch my eye. Cheap is always bad. If I gamble, it’s not worth my while unless it’s tens of millions.”

Hearing this, the store clerk fell silent, knowing Huo Sining’s identity and aware that she wasn’t bluffing; she spoke her mind.

Yet others in the room didn’t see it that way.

The gamblers here were hoping to get rich quick, and hearing Huo Sining’s words, they thought she was just pretentious, unable to afford anything. Several people picking out raw materials sneered, mocking:

”Tens of millions, seriously? You? Hilarious, have you looked in the mirror lately?”

”Coming to gamble with such a belly, have you gone mad for wealth? Saying these materials aren’t good enough for her, she probably can’t afford it.”

”Can’t stand women like that, pretentious and showy, honestly disgusting!”

Huo Sining cast a nonchalant glance at those speaking sarcastically behind her and couldn’t be bothered. However, Yingzi was furious and instinctively wanted to teach them a lesson.

”Yingzi!” Huo Sining chided softly, ”Don’t cause trouble!”

Seeing this, Yingzi sullenly withdrew her fist, moved closer to Huo Sining, and still glared fiercely at those who spoke ill of Huo Sining.

The people paid no heed to the three women, continuing their chatter. But Huo Sining wasn’t about to argue with such people and asked Yingzi to leave with her.

They had hardly taken two steps before a man in a suit stopped them:

”Pardon me, madam, could you please wait?”

Huo Sining looked up at the man and frowned slightly, ”What is it?”

The man glanced at the watch on Yingzi’s wrist and then eyed the store clerk from Guan Yu Beauty Shop who was following Huo Sining, his mouth curling into a slight smile.

The gamblers picking out stones had no discernment, but this man was quite observant. He immediately recognized the woman in uniform accompanying the woman was a clerk from Guan Yu Beauty Shop on this street.

Seeing the clerk behave so respectfully behind this pregnant woman, the man didn’t think she was the owner of Guan Yu Beauty Shop. He first thought the woman was probably a high-end customer of the shop.
