Reborn As Super Heiress

Chief Lu waved his hand: ”I had Gu Family’s kid bring it back from Mexico, but the process wasn’t very sophisticated. Don’t leak this outside, just let your research institute know.”

Chief Lu himself felt a bit embarrassed saying this, but what could he do? They had coveted this technology for a long time. Unfortunately, Mexico was stubbornly unyielding; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had negotiated many times without reaching a consensus, and the Mexican government wouldn’t budge or sell the extraction technology to the Hua Country military.

Because of this matter, the researchers felt very frustrated. But without the core technology, they couldn’t even steal it if they wanted to. These researchers had been trying to innovate on their own for a long time, without much success.

Chief Lu had been quite worried about this issue previously. However, the confidential file brought back by Elisa pointed him down a very good path.

This led to Gu Xu gathering Song Hui in preparation for a trip to Mexico.

But plans never keep up with changes. While Song Hui was still busy planning a meticulous operation, Huo Sining and Gu Xu had audaciously stormed into the secret base of Tranleva, emptying it in just a few hours.

Among the things they took was the latest drug that was causing the research institute a headache, along with a set of professional extraction equipment.

These instruments and samples were an enormous surprise for the research institute.

The experts at the Huaxia Research Academy were all top-notch. With the equipment and samples, they could definitely figure out the principles and replicate the products through research.

That’s why this middle-aged man was so excited. Even if Chief Lu thought the means by which they acquired these things were not legitimate, it made no difference to the people at the research institute. They only cared about the result, not the process.

After dismissing the middle-aged man, Chief Lu finally asked them what situations they encountered in Mexico.

Gu Xu used the excuse he prepared for Yu Fei, effortlessly blaming everything on Huo Sining’s non-existent ”senior brother.”

Chief Lu had heard of Huo Sining’s mysterious senior brother. Back at the Jingdong National Museum, this senior brother had appeared and thoroughly stole from the museum.

The items stolen are still hidden in the Forbidden City’s warehouse, afraid to be exposed.

Although those items can’t be taken out temporarily, it’s still satisfying to keep them in one’s own warehouse. It’s better than letting those Dongyang devils exhibit and flaunt them in their museums, right?

Chief Lu felt quite fond of Huo Sining’s senior brother. This time, having helped again, the old man felt gratitude and couldn’t help but say:

”If there’s a chance, help me arrange a meeting with this young friend. I’m really curious about this extraordinary young friend and want to see if all those from the reclusive families are three-headed and six-armed.”

Gu Xu’s forehead broke out in cold sweat upon hearing Chief Lu’s words. This senior brother didn’t exist at all; it was a fabrication by his wife to cover up her special abilities. But now that Chief Lu asked about it, he couldn’t possibly say that this person can’t appear or would never come to meet you, right?

So, after pondering and considering his words carefully, Gu Xu cautiously said:

”Ningning’s senior brother has a rather quirky temperament. I haven’t even met him myself; he probably doesn’t like to show himself. But I’ll convey your words to him. Whether he appears or not is beyond my control.”

Chief Lu frowned at Gu Xu’s words:

”Even you haven’t met him? Then how did you operate in Mexico this time?”

Gu Xu laughed awkwardly: ”He sent some helpers; they did everything. Ningning and I just stayed outside and didn’t enter the scene. They even took the stuff away. After Ningning and I confirmed the items were correct, they rushed off with the stuff. Ningning and I stayed in Mexico for two more days, and by the time we returned, the items were already in our villa’s basement.”

Gu Xu wasn’t worried about this lie being exposed. Even if Chief Lu sent someone to investigate, they’d see that when he and Huo Sining returned, they only had a backpack with clothes and documents, nothing else. Indeed, it was after they returned home that they took these extraction instruments from the basement.

After a few seconds of silence, Chief Lu suddenly sighed and said:

”Never mind, you’re right. These reclusive family people have some strange habits and ancestral precepts, not for outsiders to know, yet they stubbornly adhere to them. It’s a matter of mutual consent and shouldn’t be forced. So let it be.”

Saying that, Chief Lu waved to indicate Gu Xu could leave, but Gu Xu remained standing, not showing any intention to leave.

Chief Lu found it odd: ”Is there something else?”

Gu Xu didn’t hesitate, nodding directly: ”This time, when we got into Tranleva’s secret base, we actually brought back something else and I’d like to get your permission for it.”

Chief Lu was taken aback and instinctively asked: ”What is it?”

Gu Xu chuckled: ”Just a few car engines, limited edition. They looked quite nice, so I casually had Ningning’s senior brother help me bring them back. Later, I’ll find a way to get a batch of parts and shells to assemble these cars. I’d like an Imperial Sword from you, so when these cars are made, they won’t be confiscated.”

Chief Lu’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch. Although old, he’s not senile. Whatever kind of engines this kid flamboyantly brought back from Mexico, he could imagine with his toes.

Just as he was about to refuse, he suddenly remembered the instruments and samples the kid brought back, and swallowed his words.

The kid, though somewhat out of line, was still useful. He hadn’t disappointed this time, having done such a significant thing. He deserved some reward; one can’t kill the donkey after it has done its job. Otherwise, the kid would definitely find excuses to shirk next time; don’t expect him to be so willing to be bossed around again.

Thinking that, Chief Lu felt a bit annoyed, so he simply waved dismissively: ”Got it, do as you see fit, just don’t go overboard!”
