Reborn As Super Heiress

Thinking this way, the expression on that Lai’s face became somewhat unnatural, and he forced a laugh:

”Madam, you must be joking. I’m a raw material merchant, but I never gamble stones myself. If I were to gamble stones, with so much material in my courtyard, it wouldn’t be possible for me to gamble on every piece. To tell you the truth, Madam, I lack such ambition and capability; I just want to conduct my raw material business steadily.”

Huo Sining nodded slightly at these words, pondering for a moment:

”I’m just an amateur. For such a large piece of raw material, I really don’t have the guts to gamble on my own. I think it’s better this way: why don’t you ask those outside customers who pick raw materials to see if they are willing to buy it together with me? I believe with such good material, they will definitely be tempted!”

How could that work? Those people outside who pick raw materials are amateurs, but put together three cobblers, and they could outsmart Zhuge Liang. If you really let those people in, who knows what they might discover? If they found out that this material was glued back together after being cut, how could this business still go on?

That Lai immediately became anxious, hurriedly trying to persuade: ”Madam, you suspect that I’m hiding something unknown from you, but that would be wrongful. Besides, you say you want to jointly buy this piece with those guys outside; to be frank, that’s really not a good idea.”

Huo Sining, hearing this, showed interest: ”Why do you say that?”

That Lai smiled and said: ”I’ve been in the raw material business for several years, and have seen many co-purchase situations turn into fiascos.”

”You don’t know any of the people outside, do you?” That Lai asked.

Huo Sining shook her head: ”Not acquainted at all.”

Lai nodded: ”Exactly. Those customers were even speaking ill of you in the store earlier. Such people obviously do not have open hearts. Aren’t you worried that these people might back out at the last moment and cheat you if you co-purchase raw materials with them?”

”Moreover, you will definitely want to cut the stone after buying this raw material. If the result turns out to be a gain or a failure halfway through, and these people can’t handle the pressure and suddenly decide to back out, asking to resell the raw material immediately, what would you do then?”

”You’re not familiar with these people, and they have no reason to trust you. Then you would have to shoulder all the risk yourself and get into entanglements with them. Could you accept such troublesome matters, Madam?”

Huo Sining kept shaking her head on the outside, but inwardly, she couldn’t help but admire him.

This Lai is indeed quick-witted and adept at adapting to changes. It’s a pity that such a talented sales person doesn’t follow the straight path and chooses these underhanded methods, wasting his talent!

While regretting this person’s choices inwardly, Huo Sining would never feel any sympathy or pity for him. On the contrary, she was determined not to show him any mercy. This kind of tumor, if allowed to remain in the stone gambling industry, would surely become a scourge, possibly harming many families.

Huo Sining pondered for a moment, then nodded and said: ”You do make a few valid points. Co-purchasing with those people is indeed not a good idea. If I end up having dealings with them later, I might suffer a loss. It would be better just to take it alone.”

”Yes, yes.” That Lai finally breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Huo Sining had changed her tone.

Huo Sining looked up at that Lai and said: ”I definitely can’t pay five hundred thousand. I’m unsure about this raw material. If you’re willing to sell it to me now, I can offer three hundred thousand.”

”Of course, if you’re not satisfied with this price, that’s fine. You can hold onto this material for me, and I’ll come by your shop tomorrow with my stone gambling teacher.”

”My stone gambling teacher has over forty years of experience and is very discerning, definitely able to spot something of value. If my teacher thinks this piece is worth gambling on, then even if you ask for a million, I wouldn’t have any objections.”

While Huo Sining spoke seriously, a trace of playful mockery unconsciously surfaced in her eyes.

She was deliberately saying this to make Lai nervous.

Sure enough, when her words came out, Lai’s face instantly changed, especially when he heard her mention the stone gambling teacher. His face turned bitter, his mood visibly sour.

What a joke, the material has been tampered with. It just happens that someone like Huo Sining, an amateur, is here. If she really were to bring a stone gambling teacher, wouldn’t it immediately get exposed? He wasn’t a fool; how could he possibly sit here and wait for her to bring someone to ruin the place?

But having found a gullible target like this was hard enough, how could Lai be willing to let Huo Sining go just like that?

”Madam, are you sure you won’t add a bit more? I’ve already hosted several batches of customers for this material in recent days. If you don’t buy it, who knows, I might sell it to someone else today. In our line of work, we can’t afford to offend our customers, right? If a customer insists on buying, offering a suitable price, I can’t just hold onto it and not sell it. Otherwise, if I upset the customer, my business won’t run smoothly; wouldn’t you agree?”

That Lai continued to persuade.

B ut Huo Sining merely shook her head: ”In stone gambling, it’s all about fate. If I miss this raw material overnight, it only means that there’s no fate between us. What do you think, Boss?”

Lai was immediately choked up and couldn’t persuade further.

Inwardly calculating and pondering for a moment, he thought to himself, fine, fine, three hundred thousand then. Anyway, it’s pure profit. Better not forgo even the three hundred thousand, or it would be hard to find another sucker like this. Selling for three hundred thousand is really giving this woman a bargain!

Lai doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong in this scheme. Instead, he feels that selling a piece worth a million for three hundred thousand is a huge bargain for Huo Sining.

”Alright then, seems like the Madam and I are fated. Let’s do three hundred thousand, three hundred thousand it is. For the sake of the little baby in Madam’s belly, I’ll take this loss and sell it to you for three hundred thousand! I truly see that you genuinely like this raw material, so I’m selling it at a loss just for you.”

Lai gritted his teeth, feigned a dismayed expression, and said as if he had suffered a big loss:

”But I have a request, could the Madam gamble the stone here in my shop? For such a large piece of material, if the gamble pays off greatly for you, you could consider it as advertising for our shop. Wouldn’t that be worth selling it to you at this favorable price?”
