Reborn As Super Heiress

Gu Xu suddenly felt a bit awkward, and Huo Sining’s expression was also a bit unnatural.

Both of them were clueless about this matter, let alone mentioning it to outsiders. If Gu Xu were to tell Tan Youming that what’s inside his wife’s belly might not be a placenta but an egg, they’d likely get chased out with a broom by Tan Youming the very next second.

Such a joke can’t be made lightly; anyone who hears it would probably think they’re crazy. Despite Tan Youming’s extensive experience as an obstetrician, he’s likely never heard of such a ridiculous thing as being pregnant with an egg. If Gu Xu really said that, Tan Youming might misunderstand that the couple is joking with him.

”This matter is not easy to explain right now, so don’t ask too much. Just take a look at my wife and observe the situation first,” Gu Xu said.

Gu Xu knew Tan Youming’s character; if he’s unwilling to explain, Tan Youming wouldn’t be curious enough to deliberately pursue the details.

Indeed, after Gu Xu spoke, Tan Youming immediately nodded in agreement: ”Alright, I truly have no idea what antics you two are up to, but you know my rules here. Even though we’re close, bills between brothers are still counted. You still need to pay; let’s follow the procedures, no special treatment.”

Gu Xu glared at Tan Youming indignantly: ”Since returning to the country, you’ve indeed been corrupted by the smell of money, falling right into the pit of wealth. Do you think I can skip out on your fee?”

Tan Youming replied openly: ”I have a lot of expenses here, unlike you wealthy folks. My hospital may earn money, but there are also many expenses. It’s not easy for me. It’s nowhere like you two, donating tens of billions without a blink. As for being corrupted by money, you got it wrong; it wasn’t after returning to the country, but overseas, where I was corrupted by America’s sugar-coated shells.”

Gu Xu was speechless, choked by Tan Youming’s shameless words, unable to retort. He resignedly pointed at Tan Youming’s head and ultimately handed over a bank card saying:

”American imperialism does a lot of harm, but you, as a doctor making saving lives your mission, don’t have much principle either. Your integrity is shattered!”

Without raising his head, Tan Youming directly pulled the card from Gu Xu’s hand, asking indifferently:

”What’s integrity? Can it be eaten?”

After taking the bank card, Tan Youming was not at all hesitant, drawing twenty thousand and handing a receipt for Gu Xu to sign.

Huo Sining didn’t ask what the examination included. Anyway, Xie Miaomiao led her to the medical room, and she soon lay on a bed. After chatting with Xie Miaomiao for a bit, she started feeling drowsy and quickly fell asleep.

When she woke up after a nap, the examination was already completed.

Back in Tan Youming’s office, both he and Gu Xu were already waiting. The couple moved together to Tan Youming’s computer, awaiting the verdict from him.

The word ’verdict’ was used because they weren’t sure whether this pregnancy was a cause for joy or worry.

Seeing the couple’s solemn demeanor, Tan Youming found it somewhat amusing. However, considering their mysterious behavior when arriving for the exam, he sensed something peculiar. It seemed they weren’t exactly anticipating the arrival of this child; could there be something they’re not revealing?

”Are you planning to keep the child?” Tan Youming asked Gu Xu seriously.

Gu Xu was startled and instinctively replied, ”Yes, of course.”

Tan Youming looked at Huo Sining, seeking her opinion, since the child’s development inside the mother’s body makes her view more critical.

Huo Sining examined Tan Youming’s expression, trying to discern any clues, but he was strictly professional, giving nothing away. Hesitating slightly, she said, ”If the child is healthy, then definitely, yes.”

Relaxed upon receiving their accurate responses, Tan Youming brought up the examination data, pointing everything out to the couple:

”By all measures, the child seems to be developing normally, no issues as of now. However, right now it’s merely a cluster of embryonic cells, and these observations are preliminary. The future development is unclear, requiring regular check-ups.”

”Additionally, there’s an anomaly detected inside the uterus—a white spot beside the embryo resembling a fibroid. This is not alarming; it’s not unusual for fibroids to appear during pregnancy, sometimes growing alongside the embryo. Regular checks are necessary to ensure it’s not a malignant tumor. When the child is born, the fibroid can be removed, without impacting the child’s health.”

While speaking, Tan Youming pointed to an image revealing the white spot anomaly.

Though unfamiliar with obstetric knowledge, Huo Sining and Gu Xu, relieved by the confirmation of the child’s normal development, let go of their anxiety, feeling their previously hanging hearts finally settling.

The pair exchanged glances, catching the sparkle in each other’s eyes and laughing together.

Witnessing this parental demeanor, Tan Youming nodded, affirming the notion that typical couples would have mixed feelings but never only worries upon learning they’ll become parents.

Since the baby was confirmed to be a regular human embryo, Huo Sining and Gu Xu abandoned previous concerns and sinister speculation. After learning from Tan Youming about precautions for pregnancy, they left happily.

At this time, Huo Sining and Gu Xu were so focused on the normal embryo that they had no mind for the ’uterine fibroid’ mentioned by Tan Youming. Consequently, when Huo Sining finally took note of the anomaly, it was too late, and she was caught completely off guard.

In truth, even Tan Youming harbored doubts about the white spot. Although he’d encountered many early pregnant women diagnosed with fibroids, such cases typically accompanied symptoms like cramps or bleeding.
