Reborn As Super Heiress

Gu Xu was just making up nonsense, but he didn’t expect Yu Fei to believe it, thinking that Gu Xu had really found a friend from the underworld for help.

On one hand, he couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, and on the other, he secretly complained to himself that domestic Heavenly Eye surveillance equipment was still too incomplete. There were many places that were blind spots, making it impossible to track someone’s movements without missing a detail. When will full-network surveillance be possible? Then the entire country would belong to tech geeks like them.

”But Captain, whose child are you looking for anyway? Is it your big brother’s?”

Yu Fei only knew that Gu Xu had an older brother, and that his brother had a child, but he didn’t know how old the child was, so he mistakenly thought the child was his brother’s.

Of course, Gu Xu wouldn’t say the child was his own. Seeing Yu Fei’s misunderstanding, he went along with it and casually replied, ”Mm.”

”Oh, so it’s your brother’s child. The little fella is so cute, looks like he should be one year old, right? These kidnappers sure have guts, daring to touch anyone’s child, they must have a death wish! Luckily, you acted quickly and caught them. These damned human traffickers must not be let off lightly!”

Yu Fei rambled on a bit more before finally hanging up.

Gu Xu couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth, and Huo Sining glanced at him, amused, and chuckled:

”You’re deceiving your subordinate like this; aren’t you worried Yu Fei will have an issue with you once he finds out the truth? Chengxuan in your brother’s house is almost six years old now, and Yu Fei still got it wrong. I really admire him.”

Gu Xu’s mouth curled involuntarily: ”He’s a shut-in, dealing with computers all day, can’t remember these mundane details. Maybe I mentioned it before, so he has some impression of my brother having a child, but he has no idea how old the kid is, so he just mistakenly thought it was my brother’s.”

Huo Sining nodded; she could understand what kind of group shut-ins are because the term has become more common in recent years. Many young people are shut-ins, and it’s become a major trend for guys and girls, so she didn’t find it strange at all.

”Alright, let’s go pick up the little chubby girl; she must be tired of playing, or she wouldn’t have called me.” Huo Sining raised her phone, feeling a mix of laughter and tears as she spoke.

Indeed, just a moment ago, Huo Sining was playing a game on her phone when suddenly a call came in.

It was the number of the kidnapper who previously sent her threatening texts and demanded a billion, and Huo Sining was momentarily stunned, wondering why the kidnapper was calling her this late.

Moreover, this kidnapper was careful before, only texting and not calling for fear of being GPS tracked. But now, he was calling in complete disregard, what was going on?

Huo Sining instinctively glanced at Gu Xu, and after hesitating for a moment, they still answered the call and pressed the speaker button.

Once connected, a young girl’s voice came from the other end: ”Mommy, I’m hungry, I want big buns, can you come pick me up?”

Huo Sining paused in her mind, sweat streaming down her forehead.

She knew this would happen!

Even Gu Xu beside her felt mixed emotions; this was the first time he’d heard the little chubby girl speak so fluently and for so long. His previous doubts about what Huo Sining said could now be fully trusted—this little devil is definitely not a one-year-old child!

A one-year-old child could never make phone calls, clearly express their needs, or do anything as logically coherent as this. Even if not an adult, the little fatty must be at least a teenage girl.

”Where are you?” Huo Sining felt like knocking the little girl over but held back, patiently asking.

The little chubby girl was stumped by Huo Sining’s question; she focused purely on playing and neglected remembering the route. Now, wanting someone to pick her up, she had no idea where she was.

”I’m...at some abandoned construction site, came here in a car, twisting and turning, can’t remember the way...”

The little chubby girl mumbled something, realizing her words weren’t clear, and started feeling anxious.

Huo Sining felt helpless but couldn’t do anything about it, so she asked: ”We’re unfamiliar with Fucheng too. You don’t know where you are, how can I pick you up? Do you remember the car’s license plate number, or is there any landmark around there?”

The little chubby girl’s face stiffened, her mouth turned bitter, realizing she was too carefree: ”It’s wasteland here, no landmarks, I didn’t remember the car’s license plate either. I’ll go see if the car is still outside.”

Saying this, the little chubby girl prepared to head outside, but she was still a one-year-old baby, walking with a wobble, taking ages to get out of the wasteland, and didn’t find any car.

”What about the kidnappers, what did you do to them?” Huo Sining asked again.

The little chubby girl slapped her forehead like she’d been reminded by Huo Sining and grinned: ”Right, how could I be so dumb, I can ask those uncles, they surely know where this is, just ask them!”

”What uncles...” Huo Sining was startled, thinking this construction site was wasteland; could there be workers? But in the next moment, she understood the meaning in the little chubby girl’s words as screams, mixed with a man’s cries and pleas, came over the phone:

”Ah—I was wrong, please spare me, Great Aunt, Master—please don’t tase me—ouch—”

With electric sounds crackling through the radio waves into Huo Sining and Gu Xu’s ears, they heard a sinister yet strangely eerie voice from the other side of the phone:

”Spare you? That’s simple, just tell me where this place is and I’ll spare you!”

”Okay, I’ll tell you, please don’t tase me anymore.”

The sound of something hitting the ground emanated from the other side, as if the person was kneeling: ”This is Wangcheng Road outside the West Second Ring, the West Suburb Construction Site. I told you, please let go now, I didn’t recognize Mount Tai, didn’t know you’re so powerful, I was wrong, can’t I apologize...”

The man on the other side said this while hitting himself on the face, but his pitiful act didn’t elicit any sympathy from the little fatty. The little chubby girl curled her lips into a sly smile and without any warning, made a move again.
