Reborn As Super Heiress

”What?!”

Huo Sining’s face turned deathly pale in an instant. She unbuckled her seatbelt, ready to get out of the car. ”No way, I’m not going. Definitely can’t go to the hospital!”

Seeing his wife’s expression, Gu Xu immediately knew she must have misunderstood. He quickly grabbed Huo Sining to stop her from jumping out of the car:

”Honey, don’t be nervous. What I just told Grandpa wasn’t a lie. I really do know a doctor who studied abroad, an authority in obstetrics and gynecology. You can trust him. No matter what we’re expecting here, I promise he won’t leak any secrets, and he won’t ask a single unnecessary question.”

Huo Sining paused upon hearing this. Now she wasn’t in a rush to jump out, but turned to look at Gu Xu instead: ”Really?”

Gu Xu raised his hand above his head, straightening all his fingers, and vowed: ”It’s true, honey. This isn’t a joke. Do you think I’d lie to you?”

Huo Sining thought for a moment and also felt that Gu Xu certainly wouldn’t deceive her. Her lips curled slightly as she said, ”I guess you wouldn’t dare. But who is this person anyway? Do I know them? Why haven’t you mentioned them before?”

Gu Xu fell silent for a moment, then said: ”You’ve never met him, and explaining the details could take a long time. To put it simply, when I first joined the military, I took on a mission abroad. At that time, there were seven Falcon members including myself, who rushed into a sea of flames to rescue over a dozen victims.”

Gu Xu didn’t mention the specifics of that foreign mission, but Huo Sining immediately guessed the name and time of the incident from Gu Xu’s flickering expression.

An international incident that caused both domestic and international turbulence and had a massive impact shouldn’t be too many in number, and with the involvement of a fire, it was easy to piece together.

But since it happened years ago, Huo Sining thought it was best not to press for details, so she simply asked, ”Is the doctor you mentioned one of those you rescued?”

Gu Xu chuckled and nodded: ”Not just him. Back then, his girlfriend, who is now his wife, was the first person I rescued. She was pregnant at the time, and I got his whole family out in that mission. So he’s indebted to me for saving three lives.”

Huo Sining initially assumed that the doctor Gu Xu mentioned was an obstetrician, so she thought it must be a woman. But after hearing Gu Xu say the doctor had a girlfriend who was pregnant, she felt something was off. She twitched her lips and asked:

”The doctor you’re talking about is a man?”

Gu Xu nodded: ”Yes, a male. Don’t underestimate men; he’s quite accomplished in this field. A few years back he was highly respected in America’s industry, conducted several research projects that caused a sensation, and was repeatedly invited by prestigious universities like Harvard and the Ivy League to become a professor. Such honor isn’t given to everyone.”

Huo Sining felt puzzled: ”Since he’s so impressive, why didn’t he stay abroad? Logically, the medical environment overseas should be more suitable for his development. Domestic positions often rely on connections, there are few who focus solely on medical research, and there are too many medical disputes. The environment isn’t too friendly for doctors. Why didn’t he stay abroad?”

Gu Xu’s eyes darkened instantly: ”In truth, I also think abroad might suit his development more. But as you know, domestic medicine lacks his kind of elite. So after people learned of the special relationship between him and me, they asked me to persuade him to return home, offering him enormous privileges. They assured that whatever research project he undertakes, the institute would give full support.”

Huo Sining understood: ”Institute? He was recruited by a research institute in the Imperial Capital? Which institute?”

Gu Xu pursed his lips: ”Where else? Which institute in the Imperial Capital is most renowned and wealthy—it has to be them.”

Huo Sining nodded: ”If we’re talking money, then the Imperial Capital Medical University must be the wealthiest. It seems your friend was recruited by the Imperial Capital Medical University?”

Gu Xu smiled: ”It’s not quite recruitment; his research remains independent. But the medical university there was willing to fund him. As long as he signs on as a guest professor, they provide funding for his projects and even allow him to start his private hospital. So my friend returned with excitement.”

Huo Sining immediately laughed: ”You’re taking me to your friend’s private hospital?”

Gu Xu nodded: ”That guy’s sharp. After returning to the country, he asked me to help him acquire a small office building, then converted it into a private hospital, specifically for treating wealthy clients with confidential conditions, ensuring their privacy isn’t leaked. You know, many wealthy people have unspeakable secrets and often wish to be treated in reputable private hospitals. Since he can provide this service, the wealthy naturally endorse it.”

Upon hearing about this situation from Gu Xu, Huo Sining genuinely admired the overseas-returned doctor. Having such agility and flexibility in these matters shows that this person isn’t the stubborn, rigid type who only knows how to conduct research. No wonder he returned to the country without hesitation when recruited by the medical university. It seems he already had such plans; the university played right into his hands.

With Gu Xu’s connection, Huo Sining didn’t worry. Since this overseas-returned doctor specializes in establishing private privacy hospitals, her upcoming examination should be well-protected as well.

Huo Sining finally felt relieved. Gu Xu drove all the way to the hidden hospital. The hospital indeed resembled an ordinary office building; if unaware, even barging in wouldn’t reveal it was a private hospital, perfectly ensuring client privacy.

When the car arrived at the underground parking garage of the hospital, someone was already waiting there. As Gu Xu got out of the car, that person looked cautiously at Gu Xu and Huo Sining: ”Do you have an appointment?”

Gu Xu laughed, ”I’m here to see your President Tan.”

The person remained serious without relaxing: ”Sir, I’m sorry, but as you know, our rules stipulate that no entry is allowed without an appointment.”
