Reborn As Super Heiress

Dong Chengli and Liu Xiuping waited for just a few minutes before the doorbell rang.

They’re here!

Dong Chengli quickly stood up and opened the door.

Sure enough, three people were standing at the door, and the woman standing in front was none other than the woman named Huo Sining that they just searched online!

Dong Chengli had seen Huo Sining’s press conference, so he was very sure that the woman in front of him was indeed Huo Sining!

”Miss Huo, hello, please come in, please come in!”

Dong Chengli invited the three of them inside, and Huo Sining introduced herself: ”Mr. Dong, Mrs. Dong, I apologize for visiting unannounced. I am Huo Sining, this is Mr. Bai Buzhi, and this gentleman is Wu Jun.”

”Hello, Mr. Bai. Hello, Mr. Wu.”

Dong Chengli quickly shook hands with Bai Buzhi and Wu Jun and invited them to sit on the sofa in the living room.

Meanwhile, Liu Xiuping sensibly poured tea for the three of them.

Huo Sining didn’t intend to make small talk and went straight to the point: ”Here’s the situation—we’ve come from the Imperial Capital, and recently Fucheng’s city planning is undergoing major changes, which you might have heard of?”

Dong Chengli nodded, and at the mention of this topic, he couldn’t help but show a hint of happiness:

”Yes, I read in the newspaper that Line 1 will pass through Erfang Street, with the subway station near our community. Once the subway station is built, the houses in our area will appreciate in value.”

Huo Sining smiled and asked, ”But did you know that in the initial city planning proposal, the subway station wasn’t supposed to be built on Erfang Street but on Sanfang Street?”

”Huh?” Upon hearing this news, Dong Chengli and his wife looked at each other in surprise and shook their heads, indicating they weren’t aware of the situation.

Huo Sining explained: ”The Fucheng City Government submitted an initial proposal where Line 1 would span from north to south, with Sanfang Street as the terminal station. However, coincidentally, we were conducting a scientific investigation in Fucheng and discovered a Thousand-Year Ancient Tomb on Anmin Alley in Sanfang Street. Therefore, the submitted plan was vetoed, and only the revised Plan B was approved.”

Dong Chengli didn’t expect such twists and turns during the city planning process, feeling both shocked and amazed.

”So, in a way, Erfang Street has gained a significant advantage. If the subway were built on Sanfang Street, your area wouldn’t be affected at all. But now that the tomb has been discovered, the city planning cannot place the subway station on Sanfang Street. The most fitting alternative is to reroute it to Erfang Street.”

Dong Chengli nodded. Upon learning this information, his initial happiness transformed into delighted surprise, but soon he became puzzled and asked Huo Sining and her companions: ”But what does this have to do with our family? Miss Huo, why are you seeking us out?”

Huo Sining didn’t intend to hide anything since they were borrowing Dong Jing to stabilize the formation, and his parents had the right to know the details. Otherwise, it would be deceiving them.

Moreover, Huo Sining needed to explain the whole story to avoid Dong Chengli and his wife mistakenly thinking they were hiding something, which might lead to misunderstandings.

”Here’s the situation—our Imperial Capital Cultural Relics Bureau has taken over the archaeological excavation of the Fucheng tomb. However, upon inspection, we’ve discovered that there’s a Gathering Yin Formation inside the tomb. If we don’t decipher this formation, anyone entering the tomb might face danger.”

Before Huo Sining could finish, Dong Chengli frowned: ”Gathering Yin Formation?”

To ordinary people, things related to metaphysics and mysticism feel like feudal superstitions. Many people instinctively reject them, so upon hearing this, Dong Chengli’s eyes reflected confusion and distrust.

Huo Sining knew that such matters couldn’t be explained instantly, so she kept it brief:

”Yes, it’s a Gathering Yin Formation. You might have heard of odd occurrences around Sanfang Street, Anmin Alley? Strange things often happen there without cause, and the area’s heavy with yin energy, making it cooler than others.”

Dong Chengli remained silent, while Liu Xiuping nodded: ”I know this. I’ve heard some old grannies in the community mention that when children are taken there, they act as if they’ve seen something dirty, crying non-stop. There’s no explanation, but after drinking a monk’s talisman water, they’re fine. I don’t know if this is true, but knowing this, I no longer take my child to Sanfang Street.”

Bai Buzhi laughed: ”It’s true, but some tales are exaggerated. Children’s bodies are sensitive and eyesight clear, so they see things adults can’t. However, it also relates to the child’s fate—some children, because of their yin constitution, encounter these things, while those with a yang constitution have these spirits avoid them. It’s case-specific.”

Dong Chengli and his wife looked suspiciously at the elderly man speaking.

Seeing this, Huo Sining quickly explained with a smile: ”This is Mr. Bai Buzhi, an expert in metaphysical research. It was at Mr. Bai’s suggestion that we came to find you.”

”You might have heard some odd rumors about Anmin Alley. In fact, these peculiarities are due to the Han Tomb there, which has a Gathering Yin Formation beneath it, causing the disturbances.”

As she spoke, Huo Sining detailed the situation with the tomb, explaining why its owner set up the Gathering Yin Formation. Then she looked at the young boy playing with blocks on the floor:

”This is why we’re here; the Gathering Yin Formation needs to be broken, and the only way is to swap formations. During this process, someone must maintain the formation, and this person must be a child with a pure yang constitution, others risk being possessed. However, someone with pure yang constitution will be completely unaffected by yin spirits.”

”Coincidentally, we found out that your child, Dong Jing, was born on a yang year, yang month, yang day, and yang hour. He’s the perfect candidate with a pure yang constitution!”
