Reborn As Super Heiress

Ji Kun’s thoughts were also very simple. He didn’t believe what those staff members said, but he still wanted to make sure little Niuniu was safe.

As long as he saw the child in this couple’s room, it would prove that the child was safe, and it would mean that the child who was kidnapped, as mentioned by the staff, was someone else.

”I came back late yesterday and heard someone in the elevator say there was a kidnapping in the hotel yesterday, where the kidnappers took a child, so I came to check. Is Niuniu okay?”

Ji Kun’s question was very subtle, but Gu Xu could still see the tension and suspicion in Ji Kun’s eyes.

It seemed that this Senior Brother was very worried that the kidnapped child was Niuniu.

As for the kidnapping, Gu Xu had already instructed the manager to keep it quiet and had also pre-warned Wu Jun and Yue Shuwen not to mention it publicly.

Therefore, Gu Xu was somewhat surprised and didn’t expect Ji Kun to know about it.

However, now that Niuniu had been found, and Ji Kun seemed to have only heard some rumors without being certain if the kidnapped person was indeed Niuniu.

Therefore, Gu Xu deliberately showed a surprised expression, pretending to know nothing about it, and said with wide eyes:

”Really? Then this hotel’s security is really problematic. Being kidnapped in the hotel, this is unheard of.”

Saying this, Gu Xu led Ji Kun into the room. Over there, Huo Sining, upon hearing the noise, had also gotten up; in fact, she was more spirited than Gu Xu.

Although Gu Xu was a soldier by training, after a day and night without sleep, and being constantly on edge, his eyes looked somewhat tired and bloodshot.

But Huo Sining was different. With the Spirit of Azure Pearl, she could easily regain energy. Even though she only slept for about an hour, her face was rosy and vibrant, looking full of spirit, completely not like someone who’d stayed up all night.

Seeing Gu Xu bringing Ji Kun in, Huo Sining was a bit puzzled and couldn’t help but ask: ”Senior Brother, why are you here? So early, is there something wrong?”

Seeing the couple with calm faces, without any trace of anxiety or panic, they didn’t seem like their child had been kidnapped, making the stone hanging in Ji Kun’s heart finally drop halfway.

However, he still stated his purpose: ”Are you planning to return to the Imperial Capital today? I heard from the hotel staff that a child was kidnapped here yesterday, so I came to see Niuniu out of concern. The archaeological team might take months to finish, and we might not even be back by New Year. Since you’re leaving, it might be a while before you see this little one again.”

Well, my Senior Brother said a lot, but the meaning was clear, he just wanted to see the little chubby girl to make sure she was still in their room.

Huo Sining’s heart couldn’t help but skip a beat, thinking narrowly dodged a bullet, instinctively glancing at Gu Xu, and a look of relief flashed in both their eyes.

She couldn’t understand why her Senior Brother, who usually seemed so stern, turned out to be so fond of children. Ever since he learned they adopted a little chubby girl, he’d taken a liking to her. Even though the little one wouldn’t let him hold her, he was fond of her anyway, always worrying about her when he went out, treating her like his own daughter.

That’s why, upon hearing there was a child kidnapped in the hotel, Ji Kun got so nervous, afraid that the kidnapped child was the little chubby girl.

To ease Ji Kun’s concerns, Huo Sining quickly opened the bedroom door to lead Ji Kun inside.

Seeing the little chubby girl sleeping soundly on the bed, her round face on the pillow, turned to the side, with her little behind in the air, Ji Kun finally breathed a complete sigh of relief.

Realizing the kidnapped child was someone else, Ji Kun no longer wanted to disturb the couple’s rest and prepared to go downstairs to have breakfast with his master. Before leaving, he didn’t forget to remind them:

”This hotel’s security isn’t great; you need to be more mindful with the child. Also, once you’re back, find someone reliable to help with the child. Don’t be careless, with traffickers rampant these days, and you both being so busy, don’t give those scoundrels any openings.”

Huo Sining knew Ji Kun was doing this out of concern for Niuniu, so instead of feeling displeased, she was quite touched by her Senior Brother’s actions.

Only someone who truly considered her and Niuniu as family would care so much. Her Senior Brother indeed wasn’t bad.

After seeing Ji Kun off, Huo Sining couldn’t sleep anymore and sent Gu Xu back to bed to catch some rest, while she began pondering how to deal with Jiang Weide and those kidnappers.

Those kidnappers were incited by Jiang Weide, tempted by profit. Huo Sining naturally planned to teach them a lesson and let it go. Moreover, the little chubby girl had already punished the kidnappers. The electric shock directly fried their nerves, leaving the four of them amnesiac and foolish.

Having gained nothing and lost something, Huo Sining didn’t plan to send them to jail. Just throwing them on the roadside and letting them fend for themselves would suffice.

But Jiang Weide was different; he was clearly the root of evil. If not properly handled, he wouldn’t realize that Huo Sining was not to be trifled with.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but recall the notebook she had taken from Jiang’s safe before.

Taking the notebook out from the storage ring this time, Huo Sining exclaimed in surprise!

The notebook contained records of Jiang Weide’s illegal activities over the past two years, including some shady dealings by his father-in-law Zhang Lihua that couldn’t be said, as well as Jiang Weide’s bribes to officials, each entry meticulously detailed and the data seemingly authentic. A check would expose the truth.

Huo Sining had been worried about not having evidence to confront Jiang Weide. Now, this guy had handed over the leverage directly to her, as if someone handed her a pillow when she was sleepy!

Huo Sining couldn’t help but curl her lips into a cold smile, silently thinking, since that’s the case, don’t blame me for being ruthless!

Huo Sining photographed all the records in the notebook and sent them to Yu Fei, asking him to investigate whether the content was genuine.

Although she assumed the records were real, she couldn’t be sure if Jiang Weide had concocted a fake ledger to entrap people. So, before taking action, it was necessary to verify the authenticity. Otherwise, if an Oolong incident occurred, her face would be thoroughly lost.
