Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1550: Chapter 1534: Eighty Thousand Kilowatt-Hours in Five Minutes

”Strange, the fuse isn’t blown, and the circuit didn’t trip. Why did the power go out suddenly?”

After opening the electrical box and seeing the situation inside, Huo Sining felt puzzled and couldn’t help but mumble.

”Could it be that there’s a problem with some line undergoing repairs, causing a power outage in our area?” Auntie Li also found it strange.

”I’ll call the property management to ask.”

Huo Sining took out her phone and called the property management, but the reply from the property was that there was no power outage in the area; the power was running just fine over there.

By this time, it was already evening. Huo Sining walked out of the yard and saw that indeed, the nearby houses had electricity. It was only her house that was without power.

”Manager Wang, without electricity, we can’t cook dinner or turn on the air conditioning at night. It’s impossible to live like this; please send an electrician as soon as possible to see what the issue is.”

”Miss Huo, could it be that your bills are overdue? Why not call the power company to check? Or we can help you check here as well.”

Manager Wang was also anxious because the residents in this villa area were all important figures, and he couldn’t afford to offend any of them.

Especially Miss Huo, who was now considered a minor celebrity in the neighborhood. The community had used her fame for several advertisements, allowing the villa area’s residents to benefit indirectly.

If her problem wasn’t resolved promptly and the complaint reached higher authorities, his position as manager could be in jeopardy.

Upon hearing Manager Wang’s question, Huo Sining instinctively denied it: ”Impossible, I paid the electric bill just last week and charged it with five thousand. How could it be out already? Five thousand should last us for at least half a year with normal consumption, and it’s only been less than a week—uh...”

Before Huo Sining could finish her sentence, she suddenly stopped.

A scene from Qibao’s room where the Blue Fatty was devouring electricity flashed in her mind, and her expression froze.

Indeed, she had paid five thousand last week, but the rate at which the egg consumed electricity didn’t seem restrained.

Could it be...

”Miss Huo, are you still there?” Manager Wang asked hurriedly when the line went silent.

Huo Sining returned to her senses, realizing that it was probably the creature in the house causing the trouble, and her expression turned awkward, her words unnatural: ”Well, Manager Wang, please wait a moment. Let me check the situation on my side first, and I’ll contact you shortly.”

With that, Huo Sining hastily hung up the phone, then called the power company. The company quickly checked her meter data based on the usage code she provided.

However, upon seeing the data, even the employee was dumbfounded.

”Uh, Miss Huo, are you there?” The employee’s voice sounded hesitant and uncertain.

”Yes, hello, have you found the balance of my electricity usage?” Huo Sining asked anxiously.

”We’ve found it, but... your meter shows an anomaly, and you currently owe over thirty thousand. This is very strange. If there’s no fault with the meter, there might be a significant leakage in one of the circuits.”

Upon checking the account balance, the employee’s voice was filled with surprise and confusion.

Huo Sining was stunned, knowing that the issue lay right here when she heard her account was overdrawn by more than thirty thousand.

The culprit for all this must be that Blue Fatty!

Adding the five thousand she paid last week, plus the current thirty thousand owed, it amounted to forty thousand in electricity bills. With domestic electricity costing fifty cents per kilowatt-hour, forty thousand could get around eighty thousand kilowatt-hours.

In other words, just moments ago in Qibao’s room, that electricity-consuming little monster managed to consume eighty thousand kilowatt-hours in less than five minutes, gobbling up the forty thousand yuan she paid!

This is truly impressive. At this moment, Huo Sining felt as if a million alpacas were trampling through her mind, leaving her speechless.

The electricity-eating ability of that egg was even faster than her ability to earn money. If this continued, even with her billions in assets, it wouldn’t be enough to feed that thing!

”Miss Huo, given the unique situation of your home, I’ll arrange for an electrician to come for inspection right away, and if a leakage is indeed the problem, I’ll report it, and you may have most of the fees waived.”

Thinking that the silence was due to her shock at the overdue amount, the power company employee offered comfort and a solution.

But hearing this, Huo Sining felt voiceless in her hardship.

The power company’s readiness to send an electrician left her worried that the truth might be exposed, so she hurriedly agreed and hung up.

After giving Manager Wang from the property and the waiting Auntie Li a plausible explanation, Huo Sining quickly took Qibao upstairs, entering the room to find the troublemaker bouncing around everywhere.

The Blue Fatty had consumed thousands of kilowatts, and even though it wasn’t full, it gained some energy and was jumping around energetically, not noticing any danger as Huo Sining and Qibao entered.

Seeing this, Huo Sining became even more annoyed and, with a wave of her hand, she thrust the unaware Blue Fatty back into Space.

Once the troublemaker was restrained, Huo Sining finally felt some peace, and she and Qibao exchanged a wry smile, both feeling flustered and embarrassed.

The electrician from the power company came swiftly, but after a thorough examination of the villa inside and out, found nothing wrong.

Huo Sining had expected this outcome, and despite the technician’s offer to report the issue, she refused to avoid further complications.

Since there was no fault with her home’s wiring, and the eighty thousand kilowatt-hours were indeed consumed by her meter, Huo Sining wouldn’t pass on the more than thirty thousand debt to the power company. She wasn’t short of that amount and wouldn’t do anything damaging to her reputation.
