Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1547: Chapter 1531: Utter Devastation

The object was extracted, and Huo Sining originally planned to put the jade egg back into the storage ring, but she didn’t quite understand this thing. After all, since there was a living creature inside, the time in the storage space was static. Huo Sining was worried that keeping it in the storage ring might have some negative effects on it.

Thinking about it, she decided to lock the jade egg in the basement safe.

The moment she efficiently closed the safe’s door, Huo Sining inexplicably had an illusion; she felt it might have been a mistake to release this thing.

However, Huo Sining just thought of it as a momentary lapse of reason and didn’t give it much thought. She shook her head slightly and closed the safe door.

After doing all this, she left the basement. It was already past midnight after tinkering with the lampstand and stone gambling in the basement. Huo Sining felt a bit tired after a busy day and went straight to her bedroom to wash up and prepare for bed.

Feeling a bit fatigued, she drew a bath. After bathing, she went straight to bed. Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck outside the window, accompanied by a piercing thunder that rumbled overhead.

It was just after the start of spring, and such thunderstorms were rare in spring.

What made Huo Sining feel strange was that she clearly remembered checking her mobile phone in the morning, and the weather forecast indicated clear skies for this period. She had even planned to invite Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan for an outing.

So, seeing thunder and lightning outside now, Huo Sining felt a bit odd. However, she was too tired to worry about it and fell asleep directly on the bed.

Due to Huo Sining’s oversight, she found herself troubled and full of regret later on.

As Huo Sining had tightly closed the windows and drawn the curtains, deeply sleeping on the soft bed, she was unaware of the dense cloud cover above her villa. Lightning struck one after another, as if the sky had torn open, with thunder beating like drums.

The white lightning fell like silver serpents, turning night into day. Yet, it was only thunder and lightning, with no rain falling.

Meanwhile, in the basement, only a dozen meters away from Huo Sining’s bedroom, the safe installed on the basement wall was undergoing a dramatic change.

Another lightning bolt passed through the wall, directly striking the jade egg inside the safe.

What happened next was bizarre.

The jade egg absorbed the massive electric shock from the lightning steadily and rapidly swallowed the electric current, absorbing the tremendous energy carried by it.

Lightning after lightning vanished without a trace, repeating this process countless times.

Gradually, tiny cracks began to appear on the surface of the small colorless glass type of the jade egg.

These fine cracks increased in number and density until the last lightning bolt struck, connecting all the cracks into a whole and exploded, as if by some immense impact.

The thick layer of small colorless glass type encasing the jade egg shattered into thousands of fragments, scattering in all directions.

Everything originally placed in the safe was shattered by the impact, and the safe door was also forced open by the immense force.

Only the jade egg remained unaffected; because of the glass type fracturing, it freed itself from the confinement of the small colorless layer.

Freed from its constraints, the egg seemed very happy, as if satisfied and full, it joyfully belched and bounced up and down with excitement.

If Huo Sining were here right now, she would have been dumbfounded, wondering what on earth was happening.

The basement was a disaster area, while, unaware of what occurred, Huo Sining continued to sleep soundly in her bedroom until morning. She was startled awake by a scream from downstairs, sitting up abruptly in bed.

It only took her a few seconds to go from groggy to alert. Recognizing the panicked cry as Auntie Li’s, Huo Sining hurriedly dressed and rushed downstairs. Seeing the state of the living room, she was instantly dumbfounded.

”Wha... what on earth happened here?”

The living room’s furnishings were scattered all over the floor, with many items from the Curio Shelf broken into pieces. The kitchen’s state was even more disastrous, with a mess of things on the floor. Soy sauce and salad oil had spilled on the floor, with round dirty spots appearing on the floor, walls, and ceiling.

Auntie Li, pale with fright, was terrified, ”It must have been a burglar; there must have been a burglar here last night! How bold, we must call the police!”

As she spoke, Auntie Li was reaching for her phone to dial 110. Huo Sining initially thought the same, but for some reason, a strange feeling flashed in her mind, which made her suddenly reach out to stop Auntie Li from calling.

”It probably wasn’t a thief. If it were, they would just take anything valuable and leave. There’s no need to make such a mess, and it’s strange that it’s so dirty here, yet there are no footprints.”

Looking at the mess on the floor, Huo Sining calmly made her judgement.

Auntie Li was stunned by Huo Sining’s words. Looking at the scene again, she also felt there was some truth in what Huo Sining said.

However, she was still puzzled, ”But if it wasn’t a thief, who could have done this? Could it be that Miss Huo, you have offended someone recently and this is their revenge? It’s strange, with the living room and kitchen like this, I didn’t hear anything last night, otherwise, I could’ve come out to check.”

Huo Sining laughed, ”There’s nothing strange about it. Everyone had a little drink last night, so it’s normal to sleep soundly. Besides, there was thunder last night, and with such loud thunder, it’s understandable not to hear anything. I’ll check to see if anything’s missing. If nothing is, there’s no need to call the police. Maybe a night cat or some other animal got in.”

Saying this, Huo Sining was about to head towards the basement, but just as she reached the stairs, she heard Qibao calling from upstairs, ”Sister, Sister!”
