Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1298: Chapter 1294: Rival in Imagination

Who is this person? Why are they speaking so rudely? Huo Sining instinctively furrowed her brows, silently searching in her mind.

However, after some searching, Huo Sining didn’t find anything conclusive.

It was the first time she heard this person’s voice, and she really couldn’t recall offending someone like this.

Beside her, Liu Pengcheng probably didn’t expect such a coincidence, as just when Huo Sining was about to enter the room, someone inside was speaking ill of her. So, after hearing that woman’s remarks, Liu Pengcheng’s expression immediately froze, and he looked at Huo Sining somewhat awkwardly.

However, Zhou Shitao couldn’t help but chuckle softly and said loudly, ”Who is blind enough to see the wrong person? Little girl, don’t you slander your Grandpa Zhou!”

As he spoke, Zhou Shitao pushed the door open, and everyone in the room was suddenly exposed to Huo Sining’s view.

Apart from Su Zhongqing, there were several others in the room, including Huang Zhenlong and Shi Qingyun, among a few old men. However, the only distinguished guest standing in this room was the woman next to Su Zhongqing, who seemed to be in her early twenties.

Huo Sining had never met this woman, but since she was the only woman in the room, Huo Sining could easily determine that the words she heard outside the door were probably spoken by this woman.

While Huo Sining was sizing up this woman, Su Anning across from her was also appraising Huo Sining from head to toe. She seemed completely unfazed by the awkwardness and awareness of being caught speaking ill of someone, instead looking at Huo Sining with straightforward glances. Only then did she purse her lips with a smile, greeting Zhou Shitao with a bright face.

Casting a provocative glance at Huo Sining, Su Anning directly squeezed past Huo Sining, charmingly linking her arm with Zhou Shitao’s and saying coyly, ”Grandpa Zhou, you are finally here! I’ve just returned to the country, and I heard you took a female apprentice. How could you? I begged you for half a year, and you didn’t agree to accept me, saying I wasn’t talented enough. But why would you choose her?”

Pointing towards Huo Sining, Su Anning looked aggrieved: ”You said I didn’t have enough talent, but surely this woman doesn’t, either? I don’t see how she compares to me. You’re just being biased!”

Seeing Su Anning’s angry expression, Su Zhongqing also felt quite troubled, coughed a few times to interrupt his granddaughter’s antics, and smilingly said to Huo Sining:

”Huo girl, this is my unaccomplished granddaughter, Su Anning. She’s been studying abroad these years and has just returned. She’s somewhat spoiled and headstrong, so just ignore her. Pengcheng, take Anning outside, while Old Zhou and Old Huang and I will have a chat here.”

Su Anning, upon hearing that her grandfather was about to send her out of the room, was immediately displeased. She quickly shook off Liu Pengcheng’s arm and exclaimed, ”I’m not going out, why should I go out? I want to stay here!”

Su Anning had just returned to the country recently and found out that Huo Sining was accepted as Zhou Shitao’s disciple, making her terribly envious and jealous. Hence, she specifically asked her grandfather, Su Zhongqing, to send an invitation to Huo Sining.

Now that Huo Sining was present, Su Anning finally met her rival face to face, and naturally, she wanted to challenge Huo Sining. How could she leave with Liu Pengcheng without even facing her opponent?

So, after shaking off Liu Pengcheng, she stared at Huo Sining with a scrutinizing gaze, lifted her chin high to challenge with pride and provocation:

”Grandpa Zhou’s standards for accepting apprentices are very high. I see you’re nothing special, and I really wonder what skills you have that caught his elderly eye!”

Huo Sining, however, remained composed: ”Even a talent needs to meet a discerning eye. Being recognized by my mentor is my good fortune. Is Miss Su doubting my teacher’s judgment?”

Su Anning gave a cold snort: ”I heard you’re already the designated daughter-in-law of the Gu Family? Grandpa Zhou has always been on good terms with the Gu Family, and he might have accepted you reluctantly due to your boyfriend’s standing. Since you’re so confident, why don’t we have a contest?”

”What would you like to compete in?” Huo Sining asked, her smile open and calm.

This Su Anning seemed to be raised pampered at home, although her age was about the same as Huo Sining’s, her mental age was nearly ten years younger. Competing with such a girl didn’t really interest Huo Sining much.

However, seeing Su Anning’s stubborn and earnest expression, Huo Sining couldn’t help but feel a bit mischievous.

”Since you’ve already apprenticed to Master Zhou, I assume your skills on ceramics surpass others. If so, let’s compete in ceramics!”

Su Anning’s eyes flashed with a sly cleverness: ”Among the gifts my grandfather received today, there must be ceramics. Why don’t we each choose one item, as long as the other can identify the style and story of the chosen ceramic, they win. How about it?”

This method of competition really seemed like child’s play, and seeing Su Anning’s cunning eyes, Huo Sining knew the girl surely had tricks planned.

But she really had no worries about such little girl antics, nodded and said:

”That happens to be perfect. I was originally going to present a piece of ceramic as a birthday gift to Master Su at his birthday banquet today. This item is something I picked up as a bargain from the Antique Street, so I won’t pick anything else, just this one.”

Su Anning was taken aback: ”You’re not picking?”

A birthday gift surely wouldn’t be something too precious, and it was something this woman picked up as a bargain, what valuable item could it be? Su Anning sneered, her eyes flashing with ridicule and disdain.

However, the tension she was feeling eased, for she believed that the ceramic she prepared would definitely stump Huo Sining.

Huo Sining shook her head: ”I won’t pick, just this one.”

Then she took out the gift box she held and smiled: ”Master Su, this is the birthday gift I’m giving you, but I have to let Miss Su identify it first, hope you don’t mind.”

Such behavior by Huo Sining was indeed not according to etiquette, but Su Zhongqing was not angry, instead, he looked at his granddaughter with some helplessness, shook his head privately, and smiled wryly:

”There’s nothing to mind or not to mind. My granddaughter is used to being competitive, if she said something unpleasant or did something inappropriate, as long as you don’t take it to heart, Huo girl. Be forgiving, let today’s event serve as a lesson for this girl, and let her know that there are always greater mountains beyond mountains, and more capable people beyond herself!”
