Reborn As Super Heiress

The romance is over, now it’s time to get down to business.

In this deep mountain wilderness, the phone obviously has no signal, but fortunately, Huo Sining has plenty of supplies in her storage space, including compasses, daggers, and ropes, all quite handy.

With Gu Xu, the walking encyclopedia, they managed to cross swamps and climb cliffs; despite the occasional stumble, their journey went relatively smoothly.

Gu Xu had completed many missions during his time with Falcon, staying in some of the harshest conditions, although not in a tropical jungle. But he could manage, especially with Huo Sining’s storage space stocked with food and water, even blankets, allowing them to hold out for some time.

Still, the tropical jungle is different from the ordinary mountains and forests back home; there are countless poisonous creatures, many of which even Gu Xu has never seen or heard of. It’s very dangerous here, so the two dare not treat the environment as a mere trip. With every step forward, they cautiously observe, unwilling to take any reckless action.

As they walked, Huo Sining shared with Gu Xu what she had seen while invisibly hiding outside the detention room, analyzing what exactly was going on.

”It’s not surprising that Liu Yuxuan would do something like this, but what on earth does Zadu want? Kidnapping me here, is he trying to extort ransom from Badanile? But he’s a general; how could he do such a thing?”

Huo Sining was puzzled; she could understand Liu Yuxuan wanting revenge on her, but Zadu being a general, getting involved in her private feud with Liu Yuxuan was incredibly strange.

Seeing Huo Sining still so bewildered, Gu Xu couldn’t help but find it amusing:

”What’s surprising about it? Can’t you see it yet? By helping Badanile with jade mining, you’re threatening Zhaton family’s power. Since he wants to seize power, he wouldn’t let Bada family proceed smoothly with their mining. Zadu can’t touch Badasang or Badanile, so he targets you!”

”That Badasang is foolish, personally asking you to cooperate, knowing how important you are to them, yet not assigning competent guards for close protection, merely having a couple of small fry escort you. Isn’t that leaving an opening for others?”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining suddenly realized, feeling a bit helpless. It seemed she had unwittingly become entangled in Myanmar’s political struggles.

However, Gu Xu’s comment was clearly a bit of misplaced blame, she knew deep down. It wasn’t all Badasang’s fault; no one could have anticipated Zadu’s sudden change of plans.

Especially under such circumstances yesterday, with the Bada family experiencing internal strife, it must be chaotic, otherwise, Badasang wouldn’t have urgently rushed back to handle things. Ignoring her was natural.

Moreover, her agreement to meet Badanile had been a last-minute decision, something impossible for an outsider to know. Zadu must have been premeditating against the Bada family, quickly acquiring inside information, and deciding to kidnap her on her way back to the hotel.

After all, this was his territory; if Zadu harbored the intention to kill her, such things would be unavoidable. Even if she had safely returned to the hotel, Zadu could act at another time, because it’s impossible to guard against all potential threats.

”Badasang should already know about my kidnapping, right? I think he should quickly receive the news and find a way to save us. By the way, you have to tell me, where on earth are we now?” Huo Sining asked somewhat bewildered, unable to resist.

Earlier, she had run deep into the mountains to avoid the Zhaton family soldiers’ pursuit, but now they had been walking through the jungle for hours with no sign of an end in sight, making her realize the seriousness of the situation.

Gu Xu turned his head to look at Huo Sining, smiling: ”You don’t know where we are, huh? We’re in the Mizhi Belly Area, where many of Myanmar’s jadeite mines were discovered and excavated.”

Huo Sining was stunned, seeing the tropical jungle spread before her, feeling completely bewildered.

This is the largest untouched jungle in Myanmar, the famous Rocky Mountains, at the China-Myanmar border, nearly ten million hectares of tropical rainforest!

Huo Sining had watched countless American blockbusters, featuring wild beasts and poisonous creatures in the Myanmar jungle, and with indigenous people residing there.

Even though her storage space contains food and water, it’s only enough for two people for a few days.

If Badasang can’t find them and they’re stuck here for a long time, she really wouldn’t know how to survive.

Gu Xu’s expression also turned solemn; although his tracker was functional, it remained uncertain whether Ouyang Jun could contact the military anytime soon, and even if they reached the military, dealing with the Myanmar Government would likely delay things.

Gu Xu dared not show haste on his face, yet anxiety began creeping into his mind. Although they were not cold or hungry yet, being mere flesh and bone in untamed jungles, the longer they stayed, the greater the risk of encountering peril.

It seemed they should consider other options.

As they walked, pondering their next steps, they soon faced an obstacle.

A massive python reared up before them, locking eyes with them.

Encountering a python in the tropical jungle is entirely normal; pythons are generally non-venomous and typically do not attack proactively.

What should one do upon encountering a python in the jungle? The best approach is to play dead; pythons have poor eyesight, perceiving only moving objects, ignoring static ones.

They use sound and scent to identify living creatures, so by standing still, they will leave on their own.

However, knowing all these theories, facing the actual python would make remaining calm an impossibility. Huo Sining normally handled situations with cool detachment, as if unaffected, but faced with this piebald rock python, her face turned pale, her entire body was as taut as a bow string.

During military training in her freshman year, she had encountered a python at the training camp’s back hill, but that python was merely a small fry compared to the jungle giant before her.

The python before them was intimidatingly large, not as exaggeratedly thick as a movie’s depiction, but its diameter was surely over thirty centimeters, with a length of five to six meters. It was truly frightening.
