Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1294: Chapter 1290: The Snipe and the Clam Compete

The scene was silent, almost everyone turned their gaze towards Wang Zhongwei, even that young man full of vigor was no exception.

Zhong Zifan and Liao Song naturally noticed Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin too. Seeing Wang Zhongwei actually bid, Zhong Zifan and Liao Song exchanged a glance, both showing surprise and bewilderment in their eyes.

“Boss Zhong, you said it yourself, ‘to the highest bidder,’ twelve million, we’re buying this jade rough. Although we had some minor grudges before, that’s all in the past. I suppose Boss Zhong wouldn’t hold onto that, would you?”

Zhong Zifan didn’t have a chance to speak before Wang Zhongwei cunningly interrupted him, afraid that Zhong Zifan might hold a grudge over the previous fake rough incident and refuse to sell.

Wang Zhongwei, worthy of being a shrewd businessman, downplayed the fake rough incident that tricked Zhong Zifan as a “minor grudge.” If Zhong Zifan turned hostile now, it would indeed make him appear petty with so many eyes watching. Wang Zhongwei was sure that Zhong Zifan wouldn’t dare to turn hostile.

Moreover, he took the opportunity to cozy up to Zhong Zifan, letting the young bidder know that he was acquainted with the owner of this jade rough. As a result, the young man would have to reconsider whether to continue bidding.

As expected, Wang Zhongwei’s move changed the young man’s expression immediately. He widened his eyes staring at that glass-type rough, filled with unwillingness, his expression changing multiple times until finally, he gave up.

Seeing the young man turn away, Wang Zhongwei knew that this rough would fall into his and Zhong Yuejin’s hands, and he gleefully smiled.

However, despite Wang Zhongwei’s careful calculations, he didn’t foresee that there was an issue with the rough’s cracks. Zhong Zifan and Liao Song were eager to sell it off immediately. If it were another buyer, Zhong Zifan might feel some guilt, but since it was going to Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei, Zhong Zifan was more than willing, even delighted.

This uncle of Zhong Zifan had caused his family considerable harm over the years, and Zhong Zifan had never had the capability to retaliate. This was his chance to finally deceive his uncle. He was secretly pleased, eager to sell the rough to Zhong Yuejin and watch their faces when the gamble failed.

Of course, no matter how anxious Zhong Zifan felt, he knew that in such situations, he needed to stay calm and not reveal any emotions, so as not to let Zhong Yuejin and Wang Zhongwei suspect anything.

Thus, Zhong Zifan pretended to be sullen, feigning anger and impatience before reluctantly agreeing to the deal with Wang Zhongwei.

Twelve million, the rough was sold, and after Wang Zhongwei and his team transferred the money to Zhong Zifan’s account and confirmed its receipt, Zhong Zifan nodded to Liao Song, who carefully handed the rough to Wang Zhongwei.

Seeing the smug expressions on Wang Zhongwei and his associates, Huo Sining couldn’t help but feel a sense of pity for them, thinking to herself, “You laugh now, but soon you’ll be the ones crying.”

Having achieved their goal, Zhong Zifan and Liao Song made a hefty profit despite the rough not being fully cut yet, with the problematic rough ending up with Zhong Zifan’s uncle. Zhong Zifan was already overjoyed inside.

Taking advantage of Wang Zhongwei and his associates not realizing it yet, Zhong Zifan knew they had to leave now rather than risk someone cutting the rough and coming back for a refund.

Zhong Zifan gave Liao Song a look, and the two brothers with their ill intentions sneaked into the crowd, making their escape unnoticed.

Huo Sining had been keeping an eye on them all along and saw them sneak to the outskirts, trying not to laugh. Who would have thought Zhong Zifan and Liao Song could be so sly?

Things progressed just as Huo Sining expected, with one stroke determining poverty or wealth. Once the rough fell into the hands of Wang Zhongwei and Zhong Yuejin, the three discussed amongst themselves before deciding to cut it at once using the stone cutting machine.

Huo Sining didn’t rush to gamble on the rough but instead watched closely, not blinking, for fear of missing this exciting drama.

With only two surfaces left, Wang Zhongwei cut very carefully, but with each cut, the stone cutting machine reached the crack. The moment the rough was moved away from the saw blade, a knowing smile appeared on Huo Sining’s face.

A thin layer of stone skin remained on the exposed surface, but the jade inside seemed ready to burst out at any moment. Beside him, Zhong Yuejin and the other partner were instantly thrilled: “Great, it’s increasing! It’s increasing!”

Wang Zhongwei wasn’t as optimistic as Zhong Yuejin. His eyebrows furrowed with concern, his gaze locked on the surface, because just as he moved the grinder out of the way, he thought he saw a fine crack appear on the surface, but it was quickly covered by a layer of white stone dust, before he could get a closer look.

Just as Wang Zhongwei reached out to wipe away the dust and confirm if the line he saw was indeed a crack, Zhong Yuejin swiftly uncapped a bottle of mineral water and poured it directly over the rough.

Feeling the wetness on his hand, Wang Zhongwei’s face changed drastically, failing to stop as the water poured down directly from above.

Crack—crack—

With the flow of water, the glass-type jadeite meat, which was already on the verge of breaking, seemed to be dragged apart. Fine cracks spread rapidly throughout the jade, and within the blink of an eye, the once whole jade rough shattered, breaking into pieces that scattered, sparkling under the sunlight.

Staring dumbfounded at the ground full of shards, Wang Zhongwei’s face turned deathly pale.

Standing amidst the crowd, Wang Kaiwen was also shocked, stepping back shakily, his eyes flashing with relief and aftershock.

If it wasn’t for Huo Sining truthfully informing him about the rough’s condition, would this unfortunate jade have ended up in his hands?

Wang Kaiwen knew all too well about his uncle’s character. If he had been the one to buy this jade, Wang Zhongwei would have surely pinned the mess on him, possibly making him foot the twelve million bill!

Imagining such a scenario, Wang Kaiwen suddenly felt his legs go weak.
