”Between us, we can say anything directly. However, this matter is a bit tricky.” Zhao Chengshuang looked at Ye Qing and said in a low voice, ”Ye Zi, this matter, it’s not me who wants to ask you, it’s... it’s Huo Pingping asking me to.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Qing frowned slightly. Huo Pingping and Zhao Chengshuang were about to get married, and Huo Pingping’s strong personality had already led to Zhao Chengshuang being afraid of his wife. Since Huo Pingping had asked Zhao Chengshuang to ask a question, there’s no doubt Zhao Chengshuang wouldn’t dare not to ask. As for what Huo Pingping could be asking through Zhao Chengshuang, Ye Qing didn’t need to think too hard to basically guess it.

”Are you asking about Brother Lin, Lin Tianyou?” Ye Qing said in a hushed tone.

”Ah, isn’t that the case!” Zhao Chengshuang sighed and said, ”You are also aware of the relationship between Pingping and Chen Keai, they’re like sisters. Last time, you took Tianyou out, and he hasn’t come back since. Not to mention that the family is worried, Chen Keai is even more anxiously running around. Ye Zi, where exactly has Tianyou gone, can you give me a definite answer? So I can explain to Chen Keai when I return?”

The last time Medicine King Mountain opened, Ye Qing took Lin Tianyou there, hoping for a stroke of luck, to see if Lin Tianyou would have the opportunity to get the true teachings of Divine Doctor An Shiping. However, unexpectedly, Lin Tianyou ended up at Medicine King Mountain, saving a heinous person and falling into the abyss of Medicine King Mountain, then he was eaten by a python inside Medicine King Mountain. Later, the python burrowed into Medicine King Mountain, and even Lin Tianyou’s body couldn’t be retrieved, which was also Ye Qing’s biggest regret.

After returning, Ye Qing was first busy dealing with the Corpse Ghost Dragon matter, and second, he couldn’t bring himself to tell the Lin family about this incident. So, until now, Ye Qing hadn’t revealed the matter. But just because he didn’t say it doesn’t mean people wouldn’t ask. Now that the Corpse Ghost Dragon matter was resolved, Zhao Chengshuang finally came to inquire about it.

Calculating it, Zhao Chengshuang is still Lin Tianyou’s cousin, so Zhao Chengshuang is actually quite concerned about Lin Tianyou’s affairs. Therefore, he himself really wanted to inquire about it too. And this matter couldn’t be asked in front of Li Lianshan, because Zhao Chengshuang secretly felt that something must have happened to Lin Tianyou. So, he chose to ask Ye Qing privately; if there was indeed something, he could mentally prepare himself. Keeping it from Li Lianshan was to prevent him from accidentally leaking the news.

Ye Qing actually really didn’t want to bring up this matter, because talking about it made him feel very guilty towards Lin Tianyou in his heart. However, you can’t cover fire with paper. The Lin family was all very concerned about this issue; even if he didn’t speak up, over time, the matter couldn’t be concealed.

After a moment of silence, Ye Qing sighed deeply, looked at Zhao Chengshuang, and said in a low voice, ”Brother Lin...he at Medicine King Mountain...”

”What happened to him at Medicine King Mountain?” Zhao Chengshuang was full of worry, anxiously looking at Ye Qing.

”He died at Medicine King Mountain!” Suddenly a voice came through, startling Ye Qing and Zhao Chengshuang. Ye Qing turned to look, only to see Bai Li Xi standing at the doorway, having come in unnoticed while Ye Qing was lamenting Lin Tianyou’s situation.

”What did you say?” Zhao Chengshuang’s face changed drastically, although he had already suspected this might be the outcome. Nonetheless, hearing it confirmed, he still found it hard to accept.

”He’s dead!” Bai Li Xi glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Didn’t you tell them? Lin Tianyou fell off a cliff and was killed in the fall. Afterward, his body was swallowed by a python, and it burrowed into a cave, we couldn’t bring it out. Therefore, Lin Tianyou’s death was such that even his body couldn’t be recovered!”

Zhao Chengshuang swayed, the outcome was unbearable for him. People die, but to die in such a way that not even the body could be found was excessively tragic.

After a while, Zhao Chengshuang looked to the side at Ye Qing and said in a trembling voice, ”Is...is this really true?”

Ye Qing nodded heavily, everything Bai Li Xi said was indeed the situation at the time.

”This... this... this...” Zhao Chengshuang clutched his head and said, ”How can I explain this when I go back?”

Ye Qing sighed; no matter who goes back, there’s no way to explain this. But, since things were already this way, constantly concealing it wasn’t possible either.

”Sorry.” Ye Qing patted Zhao Chengshuang’s shoulder and whispered, ”I didn’t want this either.”

”I know!” Zhao Chengshuang nodded and said, ”Tianyou is a good person, everyone knows that. Just, I really can’t understand, why can’t good people live long?”

Bai Li Xi beside them said, ”Don’t be so agitated, good is rewarded and evil is punished. It’s not that there’s no retribution, it’s just that the time hasn’t come yet. Actually, there’s no need to be too pessimistic about this; it might not be entirely a bad thing!”

”Ah?” Zhao Chengshuang widened his eyes at Bai Li Xi, momentarily bewildered. People died, and Bai Li Xi said it might not be a bad thing? Was he stirring trouble?

Ye Qing also had an urge to kick someone. He glanced at Bai Li Xi and said, ”Mr. Bai Li, what are you doing here?”

”Having breakfast?” Bai Li Xi glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”In my courtyard, I usually don’t let people from the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance come in casually. So my breakfast is delivered to your side. Didn’t you know?”

”If you want to eat, the kitchen is over there. Go in yourself,” Ye Qing waved his hand repeatedly and said, ”Stop talking here, alright?”

”I don’t like hearing that. What, you want to deprive people of the right to speak?” Bai Li Xi muttered but didn’t linger, walking into the nearby kitchen.

Ye Qing shook his head helplessly and looked at Zhao Chengshuang, saying, ”Chengshuang, should I go talk to them about this?”

”Forget it,” Zhao Chengshuang shook his head, looked at Ye Qing, and said, ”I’ll go talk. After all, I’m related to their family members. What I say is easier for them to accept. If you say it, I fear they won’t forgive you. After all, Tian You left with you at the time!”

Ye Qing sighed again, speaking softly, ”But I must give them an explanation for this, right? At least, I should go apologize to them!”

”You’ll definitely have to give an explanation, but not now,” Zhao Chengshuang said. ”Since the news just broke, they’re sure to be very emotional. If you go now, who would listen to your explanation? Let’s wait until this period passes.”

After Zhao Chengshuang finished speaking, he walked to Ye Qing’s side, patted his shoulder, and said, ”Ye Zi, I know your character the best, and I’m aware of your relationship with Tian You. If you could save him, you would never not do so. Therefore, it’s not your fault in this matter, so don’t blame yourself too much!”

Ye Qing nodded slowly. Although Zhao Chengshuang’s words warmed his heart, the matter of Lin Tianyou still filled Ye Qing with guilt. If he hadn’t let Lin Tianyou go over at that time, nothing like this would have happened.

Zhao Chengshuang didn’t linger here either. He sighed one last time before finally leaving the estate.

Just then, Bai Li Xi came out of the kitchen with a bowl of porridge. Seeing Zhao Chengshuang walking away, he remarked, ”Huh? He’s just leaving like that? Not even chatting for a bit?”

”What the hell!?” Ye Qing couldn’t help but curse and said, ”Couldn’t you be less direct when you were talking just now? Coming straight out with it, saying the body couldn’t be found—did you even consider their feelings?”

Bai Li Xi looked aggrieved and said, ”I was speaking the truth. What, can’t people speak the truth anymore?”

”What truth? Bullshit,” Ye Qing said irritably. ”And what’s that nonsense you said later about it might not be a bad thing? How could Brother Lin dying on Medicine King Mountain be a good thing?”

”Good or bad, it’s not clear yet,” Bai Li Xi smiled mysteriously and said, ”You’ll understand in the future.”

”What does that mean? Understand what?” Ye Qing asked in surprise, repeatedly questioning. But Bai Li Xi wouldn’t answer, leaving Ye Qing utterly puzzled, unable to decipher what Bai Li Xi meant.

In the end, unable to get answers, Ye Qing gave up. Whatever good or bad, Lin Tianyou’s death was the worst thing—how could that ever be a good thing?

In the morning, Ye Qing didn’t leave the estate but called Sha Men from within the estate, talking to Wolf Monk about Helian Tiehua’s plan.

Originally, Ye Qing should have gone to meet Wolf Monk personally. But following last night’s events, Ye Qing was extra cautious. Just like Helian Tiehua mentioned, outside the estate, who knows how many eyes were watching him. If Ye Qing went out now, wouldn’t he be walking into a trap? If caught, that would be even more troublesome. So, he could only speak briefly about the matter over the phone.

Wolf Monk, of course, didn’t refuse Ye Qing’s request and agreed on the spot. Regarding Bloody Monk, he’s currently not in Shenchuan City, and Wolf Monk agreed to bring him to the estate to discuss the matter once he returns.

With Wolf Monk’s reply, Ye Qing felt more at ease. This time, they needed to seize the opportunity to thoroughly crush Sky-Killing Master Slaughterer and Executioner Scholar, giving those reclusive experts a warning. Only then would they be more apprehensive and refrain from acting recklessly.

After sitting in the courtyard for about an hour, Zhao Chengshuang returned, carrying a pile of documents—the information on those murdered children. These documents filled Zhao Chengshuang’s car trunk, taking over ten minutes to unload.

”These documents are currently the most comprehensive from the police side; they’re the result of our thorough investigation,” Zhao Chengshuang said. ”We don’t have any other documents here. You take a look yourself.”
