Urban Martial Saint

The sky was dark, and under the water, everything around was even more submerged in darkness. In such a dark environment, it was natural for people to feel a little apprehensive.

And in this situation, if a pair of glowing yellow eyes suddenly appeared in the darkness beside you, staring intently at you, the feeling would, of course, need no further explanation.

Although Ye Qing was skilled and courageous, seeing those suddenly appearing eyes still made his scalp feel like it was about to explode. A pair of eyes in the darkness, glowing as if an evil ghost hidden within, struck terror into his heart.

Luckily, Ye Qing was very brave. After a moment of panic, he quickly regained his composure. Staring at those eyes, Ye Qing both gripped the scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao tightly and tried to turn around slowly to face the eyes head-on. No matter what was behind those eyes, in the water, turning his back to it was extremely dangerous for Ye Qing. Only by facing it head-on, with the scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao and his formidable strength, did Ye Qing have the power to fight!

Upon seeing Ye Qing’s body move, a flash of hostility became evident in those eyes. This gave Ye Qing a scare, and he dared not delay any longer. He suddenly turned around and simultaneously lifted the scabbard in his hand, forcefully smashing it forward.

The fact proved that Ye Qing was right to do so. As soon as he turned, the owner of those eyes seemed to become enraged and pounced fiercely at him. In the water, the creature was extremely fast, like a swimming fish, reaching Ye Qing’s front in an instant. Ye Qing saw a huge and ugly head reaching over, resembling a crocodile’s, with just a giant bloody mouth coming to bite at him. The sharp teeth, like swords, made one’s heart palpitate with fear. Ye Qing had no doubt that if bitten by this mouth, it could definitely bite a person in half.

Ye Qing finally understood what the half skeleton under the water was all about. It seemed to have been bitten off by this monster. And this monster was probably the water monster Nine-Fingers Wu Yong mentioned.

As the water monster rushed over rapidly, fortunately, Ye Qing also smashed back with his scabbard. When the water monster’s mouth was less than a foot away from Ye Qing, the scabbard in Ye Qing’s hand struck heavily on the monster’s head, directly knocking it downwards, while Ye Qing used the momentum to surge upwards a little.

The water monster had evidently never suffered such a loss before, being knocked underwater by the scabbard, which made it very angry. As Ye Qing surfaced halfway, he felt a surge of water from below, and the water monster once more rushed upwards, its bloody mouth open again, aiming to bite at Ye Qing’s legs.

This time, Ye Qing was more prepared than before. Seeing the water monster coming, he immediately turned the scabbard in his hand and thrust it straight at the water monster. Though it was just a scabbard, it was much stronger than an ordinary famed instrument. This stab hit just right on the water monster’s head, creating a wound.

The water monster cried out in pain, twisting its body underwater and breaking away from the scabbard to launch at Ye Qing again.

After testing twice, Ye Qing knew that apart from their great strength and speed, these water monsters were not particularly special. Dealing with them wasn’t much different from dealing with an ordinary crocodile, except that this water monster was a bit larger. So, Ye Qing was no longer panicked. Seeing the water monster pounce, he swung the scabbard again, chopping towards the water monster, intending to slice it in half.

The scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao was extremely sharp. Ye Qing struck with full force this time, landing the move on the water monster’s body. Ye Qing initially thought it would cut the monster into two. Unexpectedly, his scabbard struck the water monster’s back with a clang, without slicing it in half; instead, the scabbard seemed to have hit something hard and rebounded back.

Ye Qing was greatly surprised. The scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao could effortlessly cleave through steel, yet it couldn’t cut open this water monster? Was its skin really that tough?

Although he didn’t manage to chop the water monster in half, Ye Qing’s strike did hit the water monster, knocking it back down. Ye Qing gripped the scabbard tightly and dived down, intending to seize the chance to kill the water monster. Unexpectedly, as the water monster sank, it suddenly twisted its body. Its long tail churned the surrounding water, sweeping towards Ye Qing.

In the water, Ye Qing’s speed was naturally far inferior to that of the water monster. Moreover, he was descending, unprepared for the water monster’s maneuver. As the tail swept in, Ye Qing hurriedly tried to dodge but was too late and was directly caught by it.

The tail of the water monster was also very odd, resembling the body of a python, coiling tightly around Ye Qing. The tail was covered in scale armor, unlike snakes but more akin to a crocodile. What kind of creature was this water monster after all, with a crocodile’s head and a snake-like tail?

The strength in the water monster’s tail was intense, like a python’s, coiling tightly around Ye Qing and exerting a crushing force. If not for Ye Qing’s formidable inner strength, he feared his ribs might have been snapped by this coil. The water monster’s strength was even greater than that of a typical python, which was something Ye Qing had not anticipated.

Ye Qing struggled forcefully, trying to break free from the water monster’s tail. The water monster, sensing Ye Qing’s strong power, grew visibly enraged, coiling around Ye Qing with its tail, twisting its body again, and once more opening its bloody mouth to bite at Ye Qing. This water monster’s body was also quite agile, able to twist like a snake.

Though entangled by the water monster’s tail, Ye Qing fortunately still had the hand holding the scabbard free. Seeing the water monster coming to bite, Ye Qing hurriedly stabbed the scabbard towards its eyes. Although the water monster’s skin was tough, its eyes might not be; Ye Qing refused to believe they could withstand the scabbard.

Facts proved that the water monster was also wary of the scabbard of The Ancestor of Miao Dao. Seeing Ye Qing aiming the scabbard at its eyes, it immediately turned in another direction, trying to attack Ye Qing from another angle. However, Ye Qing held steadfastly, using the strategy of adapting to its every move. Wherever the water monster twisted, he pointed the scabbard there, preventing its mouth from getting close. The two were thus at a standoff for the moment.

During this standoff, Ye Qing finally got a clear look at the water monster. The monster had a shell on its back, and Ye Qing’s scabbard had struck this shell earlier, which is why it didn’t injure the monster.

This really is a water monster! Ye Qing had never seen such a strange creature before. It had the head of a crocodile, the shell of a turtle, the tail and body of a snake. Most importantly, the monster had four claws, each quite large. Although not as exaggerated as Nine-Fingers Wu Yong had claimed, saying they were the size of baskets, they were still large enough to support the monster walking on land.

This time, Ye Qing was completely certain that Nine-Fingers Wu Yong was not lying. There truly was a water monster in these waters!

While Ye Qing was battling the water monster in the water, on the shore, the others also heard the commotion in the water. Seeing the turbulent water, Handsome Fatty Wang suddenly panicked: ”There’s a fight, there’s a fight! It’s definitely the water monster. Quick, help, help!”

Nine-Fingers Wu Yong and the others were also very shocked by the sight of the water’s movement. Nine-Fingers Wu Yong had seen the water monster devour people here before, and the scene still haunted him. Now, seeing the water monster fighting Ye Qing again, he was still very shocked.

”Hey, what are you all standing there for?” Handsome Fatty Wang urged, ”Hurry up and get in the water to help.”

Nine-Fingers Wu Yong glanced at Handsome Fatty Wang, furrowing his brows, and said in a deep voice, ”Are you crazy? In this situation, how can we help? That’s a water monster; even Ye Qing can’t beat it. If we go in, we’ll just be throwing our lives away.”

”Damn it, are you just going to do nothing while he dies?” Handsome Fatty Wang shouted anxiously.

”What else can I do? Should I go down there to die too?” Nine-Fingers Wu Yong retorted resentfully.

”You...” Handsome Fatty Wang glared at Nine-Fingers Wu Yong and said angrily, ”If you don’t go down, you’re still going to die. Don’t forget, if you don’t get the antidote for the medicine Ye Qing gave you, you’re dead for sure!”

”Going in is death, and not taking the medicine is death too. I’d rather die intact than be fish food for the water monster,” Nine-Fingers Wu Yong said indignantly.

Seeing Nine-Fingers Wu Yong’s stance, Handsome Fatty Wang was at a loss. Even threatening him with death didn’t work; it seemed they definitely wouldn’t go into the water.

”Damn it, if you’re not going in, then I will!” Handsome Fatty Wang suddenly roared, taking off his coat, and said, ”Is there a diving suit? Get one for the Fat Lord!”

Upon hearing this, the people around Nine-Fingers Wu Yong looked at him in dissatisfaction, one person angrily saying, ”Fat Wang, do you really think you’re someone important? Don’t you see where we are? Are you looking to die?”

”Stop shouting,” Nine-Fingers Wu Yong came over, stopping his subordinates, and said, ”Get him a diving suit.”

The crowd was momentarily stunned, and the one who had spoken asked urgently, ”Ninth Master, this...”

”Are you going to stop him from going to his death?” Nine-Fingers Wu Yong replied rhetorically.

The man paused for a moment, then suddenly understood and laughed, ”Right, right, right, if he’s courting death, we certainly won’t stop him. Here, get him a diving suit and let him feed the water monster just like Ye Qing!”

”You’re the ones feeding the water monster, you ******,” Handsome Fatty Wang put on the diving suit, flipped Nine-Fingers Wu Yong the middle finger, and cursed, ”You old bastard, just you wait. If Young Ye doesn’t die, you’ll be in trouble this time too!”

With that, Handsome Fatty Wang jumped into the water without waiting for the others to say anything.
