Urban Martial Saint

Li Lianshan didn’t say anything, while Ye Qing looked at the hole in the ground beside him and said, ”Let’s not talk about this for now. First, tell me, what exactly does this mean?”

”Darn, isn’t it obvious?” Handsome Fatty Wang said, ”Fat Lord, with nothing to do these last few days, dug a hole in the ground, ready to escape at any time. A crafty rabbit has three burrows, you know? Fat Lord won’t even talk about three; at least there has to be another door. Otherwise, if someone blocks the door, Fat Lord’s life will be over!”

”You really have some energy!” Ye Qing said helplessly, ”But, if someone really comes looking, this hole in the ground won’t help you at all. If you really want to stay alive, I suggest you hide in the hole for the rest of your life; that way, no one can find you!”

”You’re just being contrary!” Handsome Fatty Wang waved his hand and said, ”Stop the nonsense, come on, tell me what you need from Fat Lord? I’m telling you, don’t get Fat Lord involved in anything too tiring; look at this body, it’s one of wealth, clearly not up for heavy work.”

”It’s definitely not heavy work...” Ye Qing paused slightly, then said in a low voice, ”I want you to help me rob a tomb.”

When Ye Qing said this, he was already prepared. If Handsome Fatty Wang refused, he was ready to use other methods to coerce and entice him into agreement; no matter what, he had to get Handsome Fatty Wang to agree.

However, what Ye Qing didn’t expect was that as soon as he finished speaking, Handsome Fatty Wang jumped up excitedly and said, ”Tomb-robbing? Sure, sure! Where? Whose tomb are we raiding? Qin Shi Huang or Ming Taizu? Do you know the exact location? What’s the situation beneath the tomb? How many years ago is it from? Would there be zombies inside? How many of us are going? Do you need me to bring some people along to help?”

Ye Qing originally thought that with Handsome Fatty Wang’s lazy nature, asking him to do something would result in an immediate refusal. Surprisingly, this time Handsome Fatty Wang answered so straightforwardly. Moreover, looking at his expression, he seemed even more excited than Ye Qing, which was quite rare. It seems this fatty truly loves the profession of tomb-robbing.

”I... I meant to ask you to help me rob a tomb,” Ye Qing said in a low voice, looking at Handsome Fatty Wang, ”This job is not only exhausting but also a bit dangerous. Did you understand what I said?”

”Nonsense!” Handsome Fatty Wang said, ”Tomb-robbing, when is it not exhausting and dangerous? Fat Lord has been doing this for years; what kind of situations haven’t I seen? If it’s not dangerous, then it’s just grave digging. Fine, fine, enough talk, just tell me exactly where it is, what’s the situation below the tomb, and I’ll arrange things accordingly. Oh, by the way, my tools were all left at Shen Family Manor last time. You need to arrange a set of tools for me. Specifically, I’ll tell you, a Luoyang Shovel is essential, a powerful flashlight, a Black Donkey Hoof, and a bronze mirror to ward off the dead...”

”Hold it, hold it!” Ye Qing quickly stopped Handsome Fatty Wang and said, ”The tomb I want you to rob has no corpses inside; you don’t need so many tools.”

Handsome Fatty Wang immediately widened his eyes and said, ”No corpses? Then what’s the point of robbing some useless tomb?”

”Ah, this can’t be explained to you right now; you’ll understand when you get there,” Ye Qing said, ”However, there are traps inside, so be a bit cautious about that.”

Handsome Fatty Wang lost interest and leaned back on the sofa, saying, ”I don’t need your explanations. Just tell me, with no corpses in the tomb, what are we looting?”

”You rob tombs just to loot corpses?” Li Lianshan said unhappily from the side.

”Nonsense! If there are no corpses, how would there be burial items in the tomb?” Handsome Fatty Wang glared and said, ”Even with the Wanyan Family’s faux burial with living people, they replaced the family member with a live person, so there are still corpses. Without a corpse, who would place burial items? We’re robbing tombs, not digging foundations for people; aren’t you getting exhausted for nothing?”

Hearing this, Ye Qing’s eyes lit up and he said, ”Even though there are no corpses inside, that doesn’t mean there aren’t burial items. What’s more, the stuff left inside is definitely more valuable than anything you’ve gotten from tomb-robbing over the years!”

”Are you bluffing?” Handsome Fatty Wang glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Do you have any idea how many things have come through Fat Lord’s hands over the years?”

”But do you know how much the tomb of Patriarch Bodhidharma is worth?” Ye Qing asked back.

”What? What? What?” Handsome Fatty Wang jumped up and asked three times in a row, all with the same question, completely shocked by Ye Qing’s words.

”The tomb of Patriarch Bodhidharma!” Ye Qing looked at Handsome Fatty Wang and said, ”That’s the tomb we’re going to hit this time!”

”Patriarch Bodhidharma?” Handsome Fatty Wang glared and said, ”You... you mean that... that monk? The famous monk?”

”Who else could it be?” Ye Qing asked rhetorically.

”Oh man, he... he... he... he even has a tomb?” Handsome Fatty Wang’s eyes almost bulged out as he said, ”Aren’t those monks all about cremation after death? After burning, what’s left is a pile of bones, called what again?”

”Sarira,” Li Lianshan added quietly.

”That’s right, that’s right, the Shariputra. Wow, I didn’t expect you, running in the underworld, to have some cultural knowledge.” Handsome Fatty Wang looked at Ye Qing, saying, ”After Patriarch Bodhidharma’s death, surely he left behind these things too, right? Where’s a tomb we can rob?”

Ye Qing said, ”If I say there’s one, I’m definitely not lying to you. Stop asking so many questions, just tell me if you’re in or not!”

Handsome Fatty Wang stared at Ye Qing for a while, hesitated for a bit, but finally seemed unable to resist the temptation of tomb-robbing.

”Alright, Fat Lord trusts you this time!” Handsome Fatty Wang gritted his teeth, saying, ”However, let me say this upfront. If it’s not Patriarch Bodhidharma’s tomb, Fat Lord won’t let you off easily!”

Ye Qing said, ”Don’t worry, if it’s not Patriarch Bodhidharma’s tomb, I’ll return all those Famed Instruments from last time to you, how about that?”

”Deal!” Handsome Fatty Wang immediately jumped up, saying, ”When do we set off? Even if there’s no corpse inside, I still need to prepare some tools. If there are traps, they can be much more dangerous than evil spirits. The worst thing in such situations is to face both traps and evil spirits; having them together is truly a deadly situation. So, before we go in, we should first understand the underground situation as much as possible, to avoid going in blindly.”

Seeing Handsome Fatty Wang speaking so seriously, Ye Qing couldn’t help but feel a bit worried too. He paused slightly, then said, ”I don’t know the specific situation of this tomb either. So, here’s the plan: you tidy up a bit, and I’ll take you to meet someone later who’s more familiar with the situation over there. You can ask him when the time comes.”

”Alright!” Handsome Fatty Wang replied, grabbing a backpack nearby, and said directly, ”Let’s go.”

”You... are you ready just like this?” Li Lianshan was also stunned.

Handsome Fatty Wang flicked his hair and said, ”Fat Lord is just this dashing. When I’m out, a backpack is all I need.”

Ye Qing and Li Lianshan were speechless for a moment, and Li Lianshan muttered in a low voice, ”How many pairs of underwear can fit in this backpack? Does this guy just not change his underwear?”

”You’re wrong, Fat Lord is very particular about cleanliness. That’s why I carry two pairs of underwear when I go out, one to wear and another to wash, keeping them dry daily.” Handsome Fatty Wang replied.

”Your ears are quite sharp.”

”Dude, we’re standing side by side. If I can’t hear you, then my ears would just be decorations, right?”

”...”

Bringing Handsome Fatty Wang back to the manor of the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance, Ye Qing had Handsome Fatty Wang personally find Shijia to inquire about the situation of Patriarch Bodhidharma’s burial place.

After calling Handsome Fatty Wang, Ye Qing originally wanted to see Old Wang Ba, but Li Lianshan’s words ultimately convinced him otherwise. Old Wang Ba, these days, is constantly watched by those two elders from the Yelu Family, who nag him daily to hand over Ye Qing. If Ye Qing were to visit him now, he would surely be caught by those two elders from the Yelu Family, which would be a real hassle.

The Corpse Ghost Dragon situation is already troubling enough; if the Yelu Family matter gets involved, it would be disastrous. Hence, Ye Qing eventually decided not to see Old Wang Ba. Shijia and Wuhua Monk are both reclusive experts anyway, and naturally know how to handle things without needing Old Wang Ba’s divination.

After the battle last night, the people of Shenchuan City finally regained their confidence. With Shijia and Wuhua Monk stationed in Shenchuan City, everyone no longer feared surprise attacks from the Corpse Ghost Dragon. Therefore, those who had been hiding for days emerged, leisurely strolling around the manor.

Ye Qing came out of the main hall and happened to see Shen Qingyi and Shen Lingwei, two sisters, walking in the manor. After the Shen Family’s upheaval last time, the mood among the Shen Family members was quite gloomy. Ye Qing had been busy all this while and hadn’t met anyone from the Shen Family. Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped out of the main hall, he ran into the sisters.

Although Shen Tianjun brought medicine from Medicine King Mountain, those medicines still couldn’t restore Shen Lingwei’s sight. So now, Shen Qingyi had to guide Shen Lingwei when she walked. Having not seen the sun for many days, the sisters’ skin appeared somewhat pale. Especially Shen Qingyi, who always had a weaker constitution, she seemed even more sickly pale after all this turmoil, which only made her more endearing.

Ye Qing hadn’t expected to see the sisters here in the manor. Honestly, seeing Shen Qingyi again made him feel a bit awkward. After all, the scene during last time’s rescue was anything but smooth. Now facing her again, the memory of that scene resurfaced in Ye Qing’s mind, making his heart uncontrollably race.

Even though Ye Qing had put all his feelings into Huangfu Ziyu, this was still a woman he once liked. Meeting again, it was inevitable that Ye Qing felt somewhat fluttered inside.

Seeing Ye Qing, Shen Qingyi was evidently caught off guard too. She looked at Ye Qing from a distance, forgetting to move forward, her beautiful eyes filled with a sorrowful beauty that evoked pity.
