Urban Martial Saint

To quickly return to Shenchuan City, Ye Qing drove at high speed all the way. Fortunately, it was early morning, there were not many people on the road, and their estate was located in the suburbs. So, they faced no obstacles along the way, and Ye Qing completed the half-hour journey in less than fifteen minutes.

The vehicle sped to the entrance of the estate, where Ye Qing made a sharp stop, quickly parked the car, and then almost jumped out of it. Broom Star sat behind him, and at such a short distance, the Purple Lotus Karma Fire could completely scorch Ye Qing. In other words, all this way, Ye Qing had endured the agony of the karmic fire. No matter how resilient Ye Qing was, such a long time made it difficult to endure!

Jumping out of the car, Ye Qing finally rid himself of the pain from the Purple Lotus Karma Fire. He gasped, squatting on the ground nearby, and took several deep breaths before finally recovering some clarity. Just now, the severe pain from the karmic fire had almost driven him to madness, with even his consciousness becoming somewhat unclear.

Soon, several other cars quickly followed. From afar, Huangfu Ziyu jumped out of one of the cars and hurried to Ye Qing’s side, anxiously asking, ”Ye Qing, how are you?”

”I... I’m fine,” Ye Qing gasped, looking at the convoy behind him, and softly asked, ”How is it? Has the Corpse Ghost Dragon caught up?”

”Not for now. Uncle Helian has arranged manpower to guard the Stone Mountain area. According to reports from there, the Corpse Ghost Dragon and his group haven’t descended the mountain yet,” Huangfu Ziyu said. ”Master estimates that these people are likely preparing to attack us at night. After all, it’s not very convenient to strike during the daytime!”

Ye Qing let out a sigh of relief; if the Corpse Ghost Dragon indeed wanted to come at night, then Ye Qing felt a bit more at ease. At least they had a day to make arrangements.

Shen Tianjun, Helian Tiehua, and others also arrived, and inquired about Ye Qing’s condition. Seeing that Ye Qing was not seriously hurt, everyone finally felt at ease.

Helian Tiehua glanced at Broom Star enveloped in purple flames inside the car, then looked at Ye Qing, a trace of shock flashing in his eyes. He had experienced the agony of being scorched by the Purple Lotus Karma Fire before, and regarding this karmic fire, he avoided it like the venomous snake and wouldn’t want to touch it even for a moment. Yet just now, Ye Qing drove all the way, carrying Broom Star back, enduring the flames for more than ten minutes. Even someone as strong as the Great General couldn’t imagine what Ye Qing had gone through!

”From this, it seems the Corpse Ghost Dragon will definitely wait until night to attack us,” Ning Qianshu said as he walked from behind, looking at everyone, and solemnly said, ”Master is not here, and if the Corpse Ghost Dragon comes tonight, we may truly be powerless against him. Does anyone have any ideas, or are we just waiting to die in Shenchuan City?”

Everyone looked at each other with a look of dejection; dealing with the Corpse Ghost Dragon was indeed not an easy matter.

Helian Tiehua frowned slightly and said solemnly, ”Let’s return to the estate first and discuss the matter slowly.”

Ye Qing nodded and walked to Broom Star’s side, gently calling out to him twice. However, Broom Star seemed to be asleep, sitting cross-legged amid the Purple Lotus Karma Fire. The purple flames surrounding him appeared like blooming purple lotuses, protecting him within. They seemed dignified and majestic, yet no matter how Ye Qing called, he did not open his eyes, leaving Ye Qing unsure of the situation.

”What’s going on with him?” Ye Qing’s expression changed, and he said solemnly, ”What did the Corpse Ghost Dragon do to him?”

Everyone looked at Broom Star, and Helian Tiehua frowned, saying, ”The Corpse Ghost Dragon is too fierce, transferring all this Purple Lotus Karma Fire to this child. This pain is unbearable even for us, let alone for the child. Ye Qing, I’m afraid this child is in grave danger!”

These words made Ye Qing’s expression change further, but seeing Broom Star’s calm demeanor, he refused to believe it. In his heart, Broom Star had a Buddhist affinity and should not die in such a way.

”There’s no need to worry, General Helian. I think the child is fine,” the Wolf Monk gently shook his head and said.

”Oh?” Ye Qing hurriedly asked, ”Really? How... how can you tell? Then why can’t we wake him?”

The Wolf Monk said, ”Look carefully at his posture and hand gestures.”

Everyone looked at Broom Star. He sat cross-legged, appearing serene and poised. His hand gestures were somewhat peculiar; his left hand was raised with one finger pointing upward. The right hand hung down, pointing downward. From the posture, he seemed to be fine. But why hasn’t he responded despite being repeatedly called?

The Wolf Monk said, ”When Buddha was born, one finger pointed to the sky and one to the ground, declaring supremacy above and below. The karmic fire burns karmic thoughts, the Purple Lotus protects the heavens. His situation belongs to a deep zen meditation in the Buddhist Sect. Back when my senior practiced Vajra Indestructible Body, he was once seated like this for ten months, exactly like this child.”

”Ah?” Everyone exclaimed in shock. Ye Qing looked at Broom Star in wonder, ”So according to what you said, he’s... he’s practicing the Vajra Indestructible Body?”

”Not necessarily practicing the Vajra Indestructible Body, but he is certainly deep in zen meditation. My senior had said before, this kind of meditation is for wise Buddhists entering deep nirvana, and only when this meditation is reached does a person undergo a transformative change after nirvana,” the Wolf Monk paused and continued, ”But reaching this Zen Meditation Realm is very difficult for ordinary people. In Xiaolin Temple, I have only seen my senior meditate like this; others have never touched this kind of meditation in their lifetime.”

Everyone was once again shocked. Who could have thought that this child, Broom Star, could actually reach such a profound level of Zen meditation.

”He’s just a kid. Even if he started cultivating Buddhism from the womb, he couldn’t possibly reach this level, right?” Ning Qianshu said from the side, ”Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong?”

”Buddhist affinity is about a thought. As the saying goes, one thought becomes a Buddha, one thought becomes a demon. Within a thought, Buddha and demon coexist,” Wolf Monk said. ”Becoming a Buddha doesn’t depend on age, but on a single heart.”

Everyone looked at each other and then all turned to Broom Star. Could such a young child really have such a Buddhist affinity?

In fact, Ye Qing knew best. Broom Star might very well have an innate Buddha Heart, after all, he knew so many Buddhist texts at such a young age. What the Wolf Monk said was indeed very possible.

”Whatever, as long as the kid is okay, that’s the main thing!” Shen Tianjun walked over and said, ”Let’s not just stand here. It’s almost dawn, and soon villagers will pass by. In the kid’s current state, if seen by ordinary people, it would surely cause a big fuss and panic. Let’s get back to the estate first!”

Ye Qing nodded, not daring to get close to Broom Star either. He could only use Silver Silkworm Thread to lift Broom Star and walk into the estate. Fortunately, the Purple Lotus Karma Fire, though scorching to the body, wouldn’t burn objects, otherwise taking Broom Star into the estate would be difficult.

Finding a separate room to settle Broom Star, Ye Qing then returned to the hall. Everyone was sitting there, waiting for Ye Qing to come over.

Seeing Ye Qing come in, Ning Qianshu said directly, ”Alright, now that Ye Qing is here, we can discuss this matter and see what his opinion is.”

”What matter?” Ye Qing asked curiously.

Everyone smiled bitterly, and Ding Lianshun sighed, saying, ”Ye Qing, we were just discussing whether to relinquish Shenchuan City and temporarily avoid the sharpness of the Corpse Ghost Dragon. The Corpse Ghost Dragon is too powerful, and together we are not his match. Staying here is just waiting for death. It would be better to avoid his sharpness for now, and look for a way to deal with him later!”

Ye Qing was slightly silent for a moment, looking at everyone, and said, ”Actually, I have also been considering this. However, with the current situation, no matter where we flee, the Corpse Ghost Dragon will surely follow. And if we are to flee, it’s not just us leaving Shenchuan City. Not only us, my friends here, the people of the Shen Family, the people of Sha Men, the Seven Steering Committees of Hong Alliance, and the Seven Families all have to evacuate. If we evacuate that way, it won’t be that easy. After all, there are just too many people to relocate!”

”What Ye Qing said is exactly what worries me the most,” Helian Tiehua nodded and said. ”Evacuating so many people is not just about how many cars are needed, but where all these people should go. It’s not easy to settle such a large crowd!”

”What’s to worry about? Just leave them behind!” Ning Qianshu said bluntly. ”Master said, if the Corpse Ghost Dragon targets ordinary people, Wu Tianchi would surely come looking for him. Is the Corpse Ghost Dragon not afraid of anyone, but not afraid of Wu Tianchi?”

”Though that’s what was said, didn’t they still capture Li Lianshan and Broom Star this time?” Ye Qing shook his head, ”We can leave, that’s easy. But if our departure brings harm to my friends here, I definitely couldn’t do that!”

Everyone nodded in agreement. What Ye Qing said resonated with everyone’s hearts. The reason everyone admired Ye Qing so was precisely because of his character.

”Then what to do? Are we just going to wait here for death?” Ning Qianshu said discontentedly.

Ye Qing also fell into silence. The strength of the Corpse Ghost Dragon was too overwhelming to be countered by ordinary strategies. To deal with him, only immense power could completely crush him. But nowadays, besides the never-before-seen Wu Tianchi, who else could truly overpower the Corpse Ghost Dragon?

Just as everyone was deep in silence, a person suddenly ran in from the door and said to Helian Tiehua, ”Great General, there are two people outside the estate who wish to see you.”

Everyone’s expressions changed, the first thought being the Corpse Ghost Dragon. Could the Corpse Ghost Dragon have come so quickly?

”Who are they?” Helian Tiehua asked solemnly.

”They are two monks.”
