The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1886: Chapter 1886: Wang Yue’s Journey

Wang Yue had already begun to explain the reason for her arrival.

She and Zhou Tiedong were already engaged, and everyone in Tuqiao Village knew about it. The villagers were also aware of Chen Qiu running to the village to tarnish her reputation, which could be easily verified.

Therefore, no matter how much Chen Qiu denied it, it was useless.

Wang Yue wanted to talk about the evidence she had found, “Ever since Dongzi was imprisoned, both our families have been deeply saddened, and Aunt Zhou even fell ill because of it.”

Father Zhou and Mother Zhou did not know what to do, so Wang Yue decided to try to find a solution on her own.

She needed to find evidence to prove that Zhou Tiedong was falsely accused, and she wanted to rescue him.

So Wang Yue went to the county town to inquire, hoping to find even the slightest clue, and eventually, she found a lead in Guo Zheng.

After learning about what happened to Guo Zheng, Wang Yue speculated that he might have been framed by Chen Bing just like Zhou Tiedong.

Thus she approached Guo Zheng, and after comparing notes, they indeed found that they had both been victimized by Chen Bing’s similar tactics.

However, when it came to overturning the case and filing a complaint, Guo Zheng refused.

“The arm can’t twist the thigh”—years ago, he had been beaten, and now trying again would only result in the same. Chenggu County had the same county magistrate and the same constables. Who could stand up for him?

Wang Yue was very disappointed. She understood Guo Zheng’s concerns, and she was also aware that even if she found evidence, the result might still be the same.

Just when she was at a loss, Chenggu County was attacked by rebels, and the city gates were closed.

Wang Yue couldn’t even get into the county town to find other clues, not to mention seeing Zhou Tiedong, which became a difficult task.

Later, the former county magistrate was imprisoned, and it was said that Constable Li had also been arrested.

Wang Yue felt a great sense of relief and her desire to overturn the case began to stir again. Unfortunately, the county magistrate was arrested, and the new magistrate didn’t take office until three days before the New Year.

Once in office, the new magistrate immediately began interrogating the rebels, so busy that no time was left to hold court sessions.

And Guo Zheng had a lot of concerns; he suffered once and was afraid of being beaten again, holding a deep fear of the authorities. He didn’t know what kind of person the new magistrate was, and if he was the same as the previous one, any complaint would be in vain.

To be cautious, he advised Wang Yue to wait a little longer. They should at least find out the new magistrate’s character first.

Wang Yue was troubled by his words. She also feared bringing more trouble to Zhou Tiedong. Thus, although she was anxious, she restrained herself desperately, but she still planned to file a complaint at the Office once the New Year was over or the court sessions commenced.

Who would have known that just yesterday, someone from Tuqiao Village ran to her house saying Zhou Tiedong had returned and appeared briefly at the village entrance?

Unfortunately, Wang Yue was in the county town at that time and didn’t know about it until she returned and heard the news.

She immediately ran to the Zhou family. Father Zhou and Mother Zhou, following Shu Yu’s instructions, kept silent around others and claimed they knew nothing. However, they had long regarded Wang Yue, who tirelessly ran around for her son, as family. Knowing how worried Wang Yue was about their son, they told her that the Wen’an County Lord had released Zhou Tiedong from prison.

They also mentioned that the carriage was heading towards the prefecture, but they didn’t know the purpose, only hearing that the county magistrate had business in the prefecture.

Upon hearing this, Wang Yue knew the opportunity had arrived. She immediately went back to the county town to find Guo Zheng.

Hearing that Zhou Tiedong had connections with the county magistrate and had the magistrate as a backing, Guo Zheng was finally persuaded. Shu Yu’s good reputation recently established in the county town ultimately helped Guo Zheng make up his mind, so he went with Wang Yue to the prefecture.
