The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1859: Chapter 1859: You Still Have a Chance to Be Released

Subsequently, Shu Yu instructed Prison Chief Liu to bring over Constable Li, who was colluding with Chen Bing.

Constable Li was also part of the rebellion, but he had leverage held by others, and wasn’t fully aware of his own part in the conspiracy, simply following orders blindly.

Therefore, his crime wasn’t deemed severe enough for execution, at most he’d face exile.

Originally, he thought he only had to remain in the prison, waiting for the final judgment day. Unexpectedly, Prison Chief Liu suddenly said the county magistrate wanted to see him.

Zhou Tiedong was not familiar with Shu Yu, but Constable Li and others feared her greatly.

Previously, Shu Yu had been responsible for interrogations, and many rebel opportunists attempting to claim innocence to escape punishment were caught by her. Upon hearing that she wanted to meet him alone, Constable Li’s legs went weak, almost out of his control.

Thus, when brought before Shu Yu, he almost answered every question she asked without any thought of concealing the truth from her.

His cooperative attitude surprised Zhou Tiedong greatly, but hearing Li admit his collusion with Chen Bing made him exhale a long breath.

After Shu Yu finished her questions, she confirmed they were just as Zhou Tiedong had stated, and had Prison Chief Liu take him back.

Then she turned to the still anxious Zhou Tiedong and said, ”I roughly understood your situation, but there’s another involved party. Later on, I will bring Chen Bing to court; are you willing to testify?”

”Willing, of course willing.”

Shu Yu nodded and turned to Prison Chief Liu, ”I’ll take this person first, bring over the register, and I’ll sign it.”

”Yes, county magistrate.”

Prison Chief Liu watched her sign off, then immediately found two jailers to carry a stretcher over, carefully helping Zhou Tiedong onto it, escorting him out of the prison and onto a carriage.

Before boarding the carriage, Shu Yu thought for a moment, then said to Prison Chief Liu, ”I know the prison staffing is tight right now, and you’ve been working hard. But today’s events are potential risks. If possible, arrange to temporarily put off less important matters and separate prisoners based on the severity of their crimes, so as to avoid unnecessary trouble.”

The prison head nodded immediately, ”You’re right, county magistrate. I’ll go back and organize this matter properly.”

”Thanks for your hard work. It’ll make things easier for Lord county magistrate to interrogate prisoners in the future.”

The jailer felt a bit excited, knowing that the county magistrate meant she’d speak well for him in front of the county magistrate.

Now Chenggu County has a new county magistrate, and Prison Chief Liu hadn’t grasped his stance yet. Making a good impression in front of Lord county magistrate would naturally be good for his future.

With Shu Yu’s words, Prison Chief Liu suddenly felt motivated.

As he watched their carriage depart, he immediately returned to the prison with his people and started assigning prisoners without regard for time.

The prisoners watched him return without Zhou Tiedong, exchanging bewildered glances.

A prisoner relatively on good terms with him asked, ”Did Zhou Tiedong leave? What’s going on with Constable Li, has he gotten into trouble?”

Prison Chief Liu sneered, ”More than Constable Li getting into trouble, the whole county town is in a mess. The former county magistrate has been executed, and from now on, Lord Tang will be in charge of Chenggu County. I know many of you are wrongfully accused. If Lord Tang gets to it, perhaps you can be released.”

Upon hearing this, everyone showed a look of shock.
