Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 396: Chapter 377: Tomorrow and Tomorrow (Part 2)

After dinner, Yang Zhen left, and Hu Si continued to walk with Luo Qianqian down the streets, walking for half an hour before he waved down a car, ”Sitting right after dinner isn’t good, and this also saves some cab fare.”

The destination wasn’t in the city; it was in the suburbs, in the opposite direction from the small village where they lived. Luo Qianqian looked out the car window at the swiftly passing scenery and couldn’t help but think, Surely we won’t have to walk again after dinner tonight?

She was already in pain in her arms and legs, and even her internal organs felt pain, all due to physical injuries.

Upon arriving, Luo Qianqian’s eyes widened. Was this a mistake? Shooting? And a comprehensive shooting club? Not only were there guns but also bow and arrow, which drove her crazy. What did they want her to do now? She was having a hard time even holding a cellphone.

”Hey, youth, why have you only just arrived?” Like at the Taekwondo Gym, someone came up to greet Hu Si, and as always, landed a punch on his chest, ”Yang Zhen told me you’ve been abusing the kids.”

Then, his gaze turned towards Luo Qianqian, who was shivering slightly to the side.

There weren’t many people in the club; it was a private club, not just anyone could enter.

Watching Hu Si exchange punches familiarly with the man, Luo Qianqian anticipated that this person was likely going to join the ’abuse’ team, looking at her swollen arms and legs. Couldn’t they be a bit more kind?

Sure enough, the man also nodded repeatedly and scrutinized Luo Qianqian deeply.

Luo Qianqian suppressed her dissatisfaction, controlled her desire to cry, and forced a smile, ”Hello, uncle, I’m Luo Qianqian.”

So for the next while, one hour of bow and arrow, another hour of real guns. Unsteady? A ruler snapped sharply, not treating her like a girl at all.

Fortunately, they didn’t actually make her shoot, just hold and aim. Later, seeing her ease, Hu Si could no longer watch and took two one-liter Water Series bottles and tied them to the gun she was holding.

One liter of water is one kilogram, two kilos; she had to deal with an added four kilos of weight, Luo Qianqian had to control her impulse to throw down her burden and quit.

Hu Si had said that if she didn’t meet his standards, even after a month, she shouldn’t think about going back, saying this as he took her ID card.

Luo Qianqian, having no way back, could only continue forward, letting Hu Si arrange everything. As long as she didn’t fall, she had to accept her fate; if she fell, upon waking up, she still had to accept her fate.

Thinking about the future, she knew that learning these skills was beneficial, and although she complained about the injuries all over her body, she still persisted without hesitation.

In the afternoon, things did not go as Hu Si had planned; he directly had Feng come to pick them up and then went to the bar, the bar where she had first met Feng.

It was still light outside, the bar naturally was not open, but the three of them still went in, as easily as if they had a pass.

Hu Si and Luo Qianqian followed Feng into a hidden private room, which even lacked a room number like the others or even a dark door that let no light through, and had none of the glass that other rooms had, allowing a clear view inside.

Feng disappeared somewhere and when he returned, he carried a big packet of things and a seemingly very expensive, thick notebook, as thick as the thickest dictionary, but the pages were much thicker than those of a dictionary.

Inside the big packet were ointments; he placed the notebook on the table in front of Hu Si, ”That’s everything, order whatever you want to drink for yourself.”

Then he sat next to Luo Qianqian, holding the ointment, ”This is good for reducing swelling and relieving pain from bruises and sprains.”

Luo Qianqian looked at Hu Si warily, ”It’s not made of snake oil or something like that, right?”

Feng couldn’t help but laugh and cry. If it weren’t for her being young, just like a little sister, he would definitely have added some ingredients to the ointment.

Hu Si looked pensive as he watched the two of them, ”His ointment is quite effective after all, considering he used to get injured from falls more often than anyone.” Who else would climb walls and trees for no reason? That’s just asking for trouble, but in his recollection, it had been a long time since Feng had those kinds of experiences. Could the medicine be expired?

Seeing Hu Si’s doubtful gaze, Feng immediately knew what he was thinking. However, he didn’t explain and just smiled.

Luo Qianqian was in so much pain, feeling sore and swollen all over, that she would use the ointment even if it contained snake oil, especially since she couldn’t lift her arms above her shoulders without excruciating pain.

”You say you’ve arranged this, but will she even be able to move tomorrow?” Feng’s lips trembled as he looked at Luo Qianqian’s condition. It was only the first day, and last night he had taken her to catch snakes; who knows what awaited them tonight.

”Is there a problem when I’m involved?” Hu Si pulled a needle out of his wallet. ”Just need to go back and clear it up a bit.”

Luo Qianqian shrank her neck at the sight of the gleaming needle, her skin crawling with goosebumps, and quickly said, ”I’m fine, I don’t need it.” Her greatest fear was getting injected, more than anything—blood draws, IV drips, injections in the buttocks, she hated them all immensely.

Hu Si raised an eyebrow but said nothing, pocketing the needle. It was meant for self-defense and coated with a strong anesthetic, which Luo Qianqian had no chance of using.

”Seriously, what kind of assignments do you accept? What are these?” Hu Si looked at the rows of Cs on the large notebook, unable to bear the sight. Was he worried he would give Luo Qianqian more trouble?

”If it were up to me, I might as well have given her that A-grade task that’s been vacant and unmanaged for a long while.” Hu Si rolled his eyes, watching as Feng stood up, walked out of the room, and glanced at Luo Qianqian who was seriously applying the ointment and frowning at the smell: ”I really don’t know what you have that makes this kid willing to help. Does he feel guilty about your injuries?”

Luo Qianqian overheard Hu Si’s words but pretended not to, understanding from the conversation she was given a task.

She guessed that completing this task and meeting certain requirements would end her psychological therapy, discontinuing her nightmares, allowing her to leave with her beloved ID card.

Feng came in with another, slightly thinner notebook, placed it in front of Hu Si, and continued without paying further attention to Luo Qianqian, sitting down on the other side and starting to play with his phone.

Luo Qianqian watched Hu Si’s fingers flip back and forth, finally stopping on a page: ”This week’s task is this one, know where it is?”

Hu Si leaned closer, his eyes widening: ”This week? And like this? Are you trying to get her killed?”

After finishing with the ointment, Luo Qianqian leaned forward; that page displayed a B-grade, a photograph of a young man with detailed information. Looking closely, he was actually a murderer???

What exactly is this organization for? Even the police don’t have people this idle, right?

”Yeah, this isn’t good,” Feng said, glancing at Luo Qianqian and sighing softly.

”It doesn’t have to be just her; as long as she’s the one who makes the final move, it’s fine. You don’t think catching a snake will erase her murder scenes, do you?” Hu Si spoke nonchalantly, ”but this is something we can’t tell her.”

Luo Qianqian knew they sent her out so she wouldn’t overhear their conversation, so she didn’t plan to just order and return. Instead, she lingered in the bar, curiously touching here and there, marveling at everything.
