Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 389: Chapter 371: Test (3)

Having been cooped up in the hotel for over ten days, Luo Qianqian’s wound had finally healed to a faint pink scar. Hu Si had left a tube of ointment and lifted her ban on contact with water, so for the past few days, Qianqian had been washing her face with a towel. She had managed to clean from her chest down a few times, but her hair had not been washed at all and was now quite a sight.

After a delightful bath, Luo Qianqian had not lifted her dietary restrictions but calmly ate the freshly made porridge from the hotel.

A while later, Hu Si returned with a new note in hand, ”Mission; let’s not have any more mishaps.”

Qianqian nodded in agreement at Hu Si’s reminder; she didn’t want that either, after all—who would have thought she would just happen to run into a blade? These past few days, she had also learned about Feng and Jin’s backgrounds, which is why she was no longer very resistant.

Feng, the booze addict, had amassed a vast collection of wine and loved it as much as life itself, feeling something amiss if he didn’t taste wine every day. He would risk his life over a wine he had never tasted before.

Jin, whose real name was Jin Xin, was as rich as his name implied. However, due to accidentally injuring Luo Qianqian, he was now sent to carry out a task in a distant place.

Since Feng was responsible for bringing her meals, the two of them had more opportunities to interact. Qianqian did not blame him; after all, it was her own misjudgment, and her injury was due to her own recklessness—it wouldn’t be fair to blame him.

Hu Si was quite pleased with Feng’s attitude, putting away the scalpel and abandoning the idea of making some minor adjustments to remove his wrinkles.

Looking over the note, Luo Qianqian was surprised to find that this time, the location was a residential area. Raising an eyebrow, it seemed that there wouldn’t be a variety of characters involved this time. She hurriedly changed into the clothes Jin had brought her, admittedly recognizing that his taste was similar to Luo Shufan’s, both picking an easily dirtied white dress. In such hot weather and under the blazing sun, white was better than other colors—it didn’t absorb heat and a dress was cooler than trousers. Despite the pink scar on her neck, Luo Qianqian didn’t care at all; Hu Si had said that it would heal as long as she applied the ointment regularly.

After getting ready, she took her phone, wallet, and room card, and left. Feng watched her leave and silently followed. His task for the day was to ensure that Luo Qianqian didn’t get injured, with a reward of a rare bottle of wine from Hu Si’s collection.

However, even without the reward, Feng would have gone; even though Luo Qianqian did not blame him, he felt responsible.

He didn’t drive his flashy sports car that was similar to Jin’s but switched to a common sedan that could be seen everywhere and followed the taxi that Qianqian had hailed.

Luo Qianqian didn’t notice, and neither did the taxi driver. Even if Feng wasn’t following her, he still knew the location.

Upon reaching the neighborhood, Luo Qianqian headed towards the square where, according to the note, elderly men walked their birds, and elderly women danced.

The square was noticeable, and Luo Qianqian quickly found it, only to be baffled. What on earth was going on?

She saw a group of agitated elderly men and women arguing with someone on the other side, and to her surprise, on the opposite side were three blonde-haired, blue-eyed international friends.

Curious about how this heated exchange was taking place, she approached and heard one of the blond-haired, blue-eyed people speaking fluent Mandarin, even with a bit of a regional accent.

”Do you know what ’lacking respect for the elderly’ means? This park doesn’t belong to you,” one of them said.

”Little monkeys who never get enough, grow up still not having enough, and when they get old, they still look for trouble. In Huaxia, people like you are called ’troublemakers’.”

”I told you to practice with a knife, yet you insist on practicing with a sword, neglecting the upper sword techniques for the lower ones. There are so many moves in the lower sword style, yet you choose to practice the Drunken Sword. Even with the Drunken Sword, I instructed you in the Gold Sword, yet you insisted on the Silver Sword. The Silver Sword aside, I taught you the King Sword, yet you learned the Fan Sword. Finally, you’ve become one with your sword—the Sword Person. I offered you the title of Sword Immortal, but you refused, not wanting to be the Sword God either, crying and pleading to be the Sword Person instead!”

My goodness... Luo Qianqian gaped, stunned by the three foreigners who were remarkably fluent. She was at a loss for what expression to wear on her face.

Before she could say a word, an elderly woman pulled her aside and patted her on the shoulder, ”Youngster, here’s your chance to bring glory to our country.”

As both groups turned their attention to her, she realized belatedly that she appeared to be the only onlooker.

She hesitated and then asked, ”Where are you from?”

Looking at the person opposite her, then he shot back, ”What’s it to you?”

Luo Qianqian really wanted to say it was indeed her business, but seeing that everyone here seemed to be expecting something from her, she thought deeply. Was the intention to chase these three people away before continuing to look for someone? Or was it to reconcile the two groups?

Sighing, she faced the arrogant foreigner with undisguised disdain and slowly said, ”How magnificent you are, but does your mother know?”

Both groups seemed a bit stunned, and then the older men and women here burst into laughter.

Luo Qianqian blinked and continued, ”Why don’t you ride the wind? Soar straight up ninety thousand miles.”

Seeing the foreigners completely bewildered, Luo Qianqian was quite pleased. The language of Huaxia is profound with a long history; how could it be fully understood with only two years of study?

”Speak Mandarin.” The foreigner across from her managed to squeeze out this sentence after much effort.

Luo Qianqian raised her eyebrow, ”Alright.”

She felt something was amiss but couldn’t afford to lose face. The blonde-haired young leader turned red in anger, ”Mind your own business and go home to drink milk.” All three of them laughed at this.

Luo Qianqian didn’t back down, especially since there were people here she needed for her mission. She calmly retorted, ”Nation to nation, the country is a family, and a family is a small country. Beneath this expanse of land, all are my kin. Bullying my family on our own soil, is this how your country teaches you about propriety, justice, integrity, and honor? Oh right, outsiders of our kind, with no such long-standing traditions, manners and upbringing have probably been lost along with the waters of birth. Of course, it’s also possible that they threw away the child and raised the afterbirth instead.”

After speaking, Luo Qianqian’s face turned a bit red, not from sunburn; she just felt it was somewhat embarrassing for an underage child like her to say such things.

Listening to Luo Qianqian’s words, the three men were stunned. They didn’t understand many of the terms, but one thing they could be sure of was that Luo Qianqian wasn’t saying anything nice.

”You, does your mother know you talk like this?”

”To aspire to great things, one must not quibble over trifles.” Luo Qianqian was unconcerned, not to mention her mother would not allow her to be bullied. Even seeing foreigners bully ordinary children, her mother would step forward to stop it; her mother’s sense of patriotism was even stronger than hers.

”Your mother awaits your return.” Sincerely saying this, Luo Qianqian thought of her mother, who was also waiting for her and her brother to come home, and her eyes dimmed slightly.

”What’s that mean?”

”Your mom’s waiting for you to come home for dinner, stop making a fool of yourself here.” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, not understanding how these grown-ups, who spoke Mandarin so fluently, could fail to comprehend such simple words that are mandatory learning for junior and senior high school students.

”You just wait!!!”

”I am willing to wait for your return, but who knows how many years that might be?” Luo Qianqian smiled faintly, ”I’m kindly translating for you; no need to thank me. I’ll wait for you, but who knows for how many years?”

After several years, she wouldn’t be here anyway; it wouldn’t be her concern anymore, and they wouldn’t be able to find her.

The elderly men and women laughed, and the three folks left dejectedly after dropping their tough talk. After all, they couldn’t start a fight here, not with the elderly or with a child. Attacking such people went against their principles.

Watching them leave, Luo Qianqian let out a sigh of relief and turned to the seniors with a grin, ”Grandpas and grandmas, may I ask which one of you is Mr. Ji? Mr. Ji Xun?”

”The one you’re talking about isn’t he just the blond who left?” said a leading old man in a languid tone.
