Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 362: Chapter 344: Hu Si Says Women Are Troublesome Creatures

”Speaking of which, I guess I won’t be coming out for a while,” Luo Qianqian suddenly spoke up.

Qin Nuan was taken aback, ”What happened? Are you feeling unwell again?”

Luo Qianqian shook her head, ”No, I need to study hard, and also stir up some trouble online. I’ll be quite busy.”

”That’s true,” Qin Nuan paused, then nodded, grabbing Luo Qianqian’s hand as they slowly walked forward.

On the other hand, Jia Ning saw her son returning with a puzzled face, ”What’s the matter? Didn’t bring money?”

Luo Yanran looked dejected, ”They dislike my face; it causes them trouble...”

Jia Ning looked at her son’s face, then at the TV drama that was currently airing, and thoughtfully nodded, ”It is indeed a hassle.”

”Mom, am I really your biological son?” Luo Yanran rolled his eyes, grabbed the fruit plate in front of Jia Ning, and slumped on the couch, ”Ah, this generation’s handsome guy is being shunned just like that.”

”Oh please, I’m just afraid you’d cause trouble for Qianqian; she has exams coming up,” Jia Ning shook her head and then said, ”You’re not that young anymore. Do you have any girl in mind?”

Luo Yanran abruptly sat up, looking incredulously at his mom, ”Mom, I’m not even of legal age yet, and not to mention I have three older brothers, even my uncle isn’t in a rush, aren’t you being a bit too early here? I’m not even the youngest, there’s Xiaowu and Qianqian beneath me...”

”Do you even hear yourself?” Jia Ning stared at him in frustration, ”Your uncle and three older brothers are occupied with their careers. How old is Xiaowu? And Qianqian? Are you asking for a beating?”

”Mom, that’s not a reason to rush me into marriage.” Luo Yanran quickly got up, holding his hand up like a phone, ”Ah? What? Okay, I’ll be right back.” He then turned to Jia Ning, ”Mom, there’s a problem at work, I gotta go.” Saying this, he grabbed his sunglasses and hat and dashed out.

Jia Ning chuckled and shook her head.

After Luo Qianqian returned to the base, she posted the earthquake warning as was her daily routine, then announced the specific timing for the Labor Day astrological events, after which she didn’t bother with the internet anymore and conscientiously disconnected to start working on her papers.

When Hu Si returned, he saw the three empty coffee cups in front of Luo Qianqian’s computer desk, his lips twitched, and seeing that the test papers she had just received yesterday were already on the eighth set, he sighed slightly, left to take a shower, and then prepared Luo Qianqian’s nutritious meal.

Ever since Luo Qianqian had been in Area A, Hu Si delivered daily meals to her room. The food was color consistent, bland in taste, but nutritionally balanced—fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, milk, walnuts, and even occasionally a small tube of blue liquid, said to be calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamin supplement, which tasted distinctly tart and sweet. Luo Qianqian didn’t mind it at all.

After finishing the papers, Luo Qianqian stretched lazily, turned on her listening practice, and put on her headphones, rubbing her temples.

After a soft sound, a pair of warm hands were placed on Luo Qianqian’s head, removing her headphones. Luo Qianqian shivered, just about to turn around, but was interrupted by a voice, ”Why don’t you go to sleep early today? You’ve had a long day, right?” While speaking, the hands continued to press on the acupoints on her head.

Upon hearing the voice, Luo Qianqian blissfully squinted her eyes, ”Haven’t seen you in days, and your skills have improved, huh?”

”Oh indeed, a genius like me, working as a nutritionist by your side, you can imagine how aggrieved I am,” Hu Si said with a laugh.

Luo Qianqian pursed her lips, ”What are we eating today?”

”You really think I’m a nutritionist...” Hu Si chuckled as he looked at the string of answers on the computer screen, and sighed slightly with a bit of sympathy, ”Today we have chicken cutlets, fried.”

”Hey, finally willing to give me fried chicken cutlets?” Luo Qianqian decisively abandoned the comforting massage service and embraced the chicken cutlets, but her lips puckered instantly when she saw the size of the chicken cutlets, ”Shouldn’t these be called chicken nuggets?” she thought, very unsatisfied with the cutlets that were smaller than her palm.

”Okay, you drank too much coffee today, eat less fried food. Turn off the computer; staring at it continuously will make your eyes uncomfortable. I’ll bring you a bottle of eye drops later.” Hu Si shook his head, then decisively entered the bathroom to wash his hands.

Upon hearing the sound of water, Luo Qianqian shouted loudly, ”The clean towels are in the cabinet, the disinfectant is next to the washing machine, the soap is light green, and the hand wash is in the white bottle.”

Hu Si looked at the array of bottles and containers in the bathroom, rolled his eyes towards Luo Qianqian’s direction—he wasn’t illiterate, but the fact that there were three types of shampoos, two types of conditioners, two types of hand soaps, four types of soaps, and even two types of facial cleansers... he just couldn’t understand.

”Are you experimenting to see which one works better?” Hu Si asked as he came out of the bathroom, frowning and smelling the scent of the soap on his hands, ”Do you want me to send you a couple of the ones I usually use? They work quite well.”

Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”There’s one for washing face, hands, feet, for mornings, afternoons, evenings, when in a good mood, when in a bad mood, meeting friends, meeting family, meeting handsome guys... There are so many categories.” Luo Qianqian babbled; she certainly couldn’t say it was because Qin Nuan recommended a brand and sent her some to try whenever she felt like it.

Hu Si shook his head, his face filled with dread, ”Indeed, women are the most troublesome creatures. You’re just a teenager and already so particular; how much worse will it get when you grow up?” After a pause, he sighed again, ”Women’s common sense isn’t science; it’s metaphysics, just like those face masks that clearly won’t be absorbed by the skin due to their large molecules, yet so many people buy them... Indeed, women are troublesome creatures.”

”No wonder you’re single,” Luo Qianqian said without hesitation.

”That’s because I have high standards,” Hu Si argued unconvinced, but thinking about how a woman might fill his tidy bathroom to the brim made his skin crawl.

”Do you know what I’m thinking?” Luo Qianqian lifted her head from the nutritional meal and, seeing the puzzled look in Hu Si’s eyes, curled the corners of her mouth, ”You might be better off marrying a woman preserved in formalin, absolutely sterile and clean.”

”...” Was this bratty kid implying he had no charm with living women?

”The food is really good; now I need to digest a bit.” Setting down her clean plate, Luo Qianqian chuckled, ”You’ve really been put through a lot these days, making food for me and putting up with my teasing.”

”...” Suddenly saying this, what was she up to? Why did he feel like he was being schemed against?

”So I’ve decided, no studying tonight. Come on, let’s go see your lab rats.” Hu Si raised his eyebrow; that wasn’t too bad, right?

However, the next second, he regretted it; his painstakingly maintained experimental subjects got all mixed up with Luo Qianqian touching this and that, and he even had to disinfect Luo Qianqian first to prevent her from getting infected.

Luo Qianqian curled her lips, and Hu Si’s bitter smile was the best, especially when facing a nest of identical lab rats.

Serve you right for calling women the most troublesome creatures.
