Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 390: Chapter 372: Test (Four)

”Ah?” Luo Qianqian pulled out the note, but it only included the location and name with the gender, without age or nationality.

However, after the bar incident, Luo Qianqian was not going to easily believe just that, she instead smiled and said, ”Are you kidding me, sir? With such a profound name, could it be those blondes? If anything, those people would be named Xiao Ming, Panda, or Pleasant Goat.”

Seeing the satisfied look in the old man’s eyes, Luo Qianqian knew she had guessed correctly, and then noticed that the group of old men who had been stubbornly facing off across from her were dispersing slowly, and even stopped loitering around. The vast square was left with only her and the old gentleman she was speaking to.

”Can you cook?” asked the old gentleman.

Luo Qianqian nodded.

”Then follow me.” The old man led the way to a nearby building, unlocked the door with a key, and pointing to the vegetables and meat by the door, he said, ”Go make some food for me.”

Luo Qianqian was full of question marks. Wasn’t he asking if she could cook? This clearly involved cooking, right? And she wasn’t even given a chance to refuse as the old man directly entered a bedroom nearby, ”I’ll take a nap. I’m old now, and my body isn’t as good as it used to be. Call me when it’s ready.” With that, he closed the door.

There Luo Qianqian stood, awkwardly recalling the sign once hung on her own kitchen door: ”Luo Qianqian and dogs not allowed.”

But now that it was like this, there was no reason to back down. Unfazed, even excited, she grabbed the bags and entered the kitchen.

The kitchen was fully equipped. Luo Qianqian checked the groceries; there were vegetables and fruits, fish and meat, and even an entire plucked chicken.

The vegetables included seasonal cucumbers, eggplants, hot peppers, cowpeas, and water radishes. She couldn’t tell what meat was there beyond the piece with pig skin, and she had given up on the fish—it looked lively and jumpy, would she really have to end its life?

Was she supposed to drown the fish?

Nevertheless, she had her suspicions—although she’d been standing outside for what seemed like a long time, the fish was still lively, implying the items were probably delivered after the others had left.

That was just to say it outright—she had not guessed wrong, this old man was indeed the contact person she was looking for.

Thrilled that she had finally found the right person, Luo Qianqian took out the pork with skin and quickly chopped it into uneven chunks of meat. Then she whipped out her phone, searched for ”braised pork,” and saw it required soy sauce and sugar. Hastily, she rummaged for the seasonings, laying everything out in front of her before continuing to process the ingredients.

Feng, holding a secretly recorded video of Luo Qianqian confronting Lu Bin and his companions, laughed uproariously as he presented it to Hu Si, unable to stop himself from laughing, ”She’s truly epic, I wonder if her mom knows. Hahaha, this kid is too funny; Lu Bin and his group were totally confused, they couldn’t understand a thing.”

Observing Luo Qianqian’s aura in the video, Hu Si commented with raised eyebrows, ”Her presence is too weak; she looks like a little kid. Did the old man take her to that side?”

”No,” Feng shook his head. ”Knowing the old man’s character, he probably brought her back to cook, huh?”

”Cook, cook?” Hu Si’s eyes widened in disbelief. He had heard Luo Yanran once describe Luo Shufan’s opinion on Luo Qianqian’s cooking skills—a disaster, impossible to undress with the eyes, hard to swallow, and the summary was ’remember to call an ambulance...’

Seeing the look in Hu Si’s eyes, Feng was perplexed, ”What’s wrong?”

”Guess which will arrive first: the fire truck, the ambulance, or the police car?” Hu Si sighed, ”You better go take a look, I’m afraid there might be trouble...”

Feng, though not understanding his intent, heard the sounds of fire trucks and ambulances, and hurriedly left.

Luo Qianqian had already started cooking with great enthusiasm. Pouring too much oil? No problem, she’d just fish out the vegetables later. Too much soy sauce? No problem, just add some sugar. Too much sugar? No problem, add some water.

Ji Xun was awakened by the smell of burnt food filling the house. When he came out, he saw mountains of black smoke billowing from the kitchen and panicked. Rushing into the kitchen, he saw a black object of unknown origin and Luo Qianqian, covering her nose with a towel, her voice trembling, ”What are you doing?”

Upon seeing Ji Xun come out, Luo Qianqian calmly put down the towel, ”Ah, you’re awake, Master. I’ve made braised pork, washed some cucumber and radish over there, stir-fried some sauce, and the rice is ready. You’ll have to make do for now. I’ll be done once I finish this stir-fried eggplant, chili, and pork. There’s still soup left...”

Ji Xun turned off the burner abruptly, his expression grim, ”If you keep cooking, my house will catch fire.” Only then did he notice the pitifully chopped ingredients on the table, and the two intact chili peppers in the pot that had turned black. He was at a loss for words.

When Feng arrived in a hurry, he saw the room full of black smoke. He quickly knocked, then saw Ji Xun with a darkened face opening the door, immediately inviting him in, ”Help me find someone to renovate the house later.” He disdainfully glanced at everything on the table except for the intact cucumber and radish—all the other dishes were charred black, indistinguishable; he hadn’t seen such large chunks of meat put into a sauce before.

Feng twitched his mouth as he looked at Luo Qianqian’s white dress splattered with oil and stains.

Ji Xun looked at the pot of shiny white rice, profoundly irritated, ”You really can cook, just rice though. Why didn’t you say so earlier???”

”...I didn’t get a chance to say anything before you went back to your room...” Luo Qianqian looked aggrieved.

”I don’t even want this house anymore, look at the black smoke everywhere. You didn’t even turn on the hood...” Ji Xun felt wronged, how could he have known such a grown person couldn’t cook?

”Not my fault,” Luo Qianqian immediately waved her hands, pointing at the height of the range hood and the clutter on the floor, ”I really can’t reach it.”

Feng now didn’t want to speak. As he smelled the strange mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, burnt chili, and rice in the air, he couldn’t even describe it.

Luo Qianqian also furrowed her brows; she was overheating, and the food she made was simply unbearable to look at. If her brother saw this, wouldn’t he continue to plaster that notice up in the kitchen?

After some thought, Luo Qianqian snapped a picture of the stuff on the table and sent it to Qin Nuan, ”Can you tell what I made?”

A moment later, Qin Nuan replied, ”There’s cucumber and radish, could it be a sauce? Squid ink sauce or something? Or black chicken sauce?”

Luo Qianqian’s face fell as she replied, ”I need to marry someone who can cook.”

Qin Nuan responded; ”You’re thinking too far ahead.”

Luo Qianqian pulled a face, ”Should I order takeout?”

Ji Xun shook his head, ”I’m too fed up.”

Feng laughed, ”Cucumber and radish are healthy, pretty good.”

Luo Qianqian didn’t know what to say and could only stand aside, both crying and laughing while looking at her own culinary ’creation’.
