Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 353: Chapter 335: Entanglement

Luo Qianqian obediently got into bed after Hu Si arrived, and cooperatively put on the device, her mouth bent into a semblance of a smile, but she could never quite bring herself to actually smile, in the end, she could only say, ”Thank you.”

”You are my patient, and my treatment is not only for physical recovery but also for psychological healing,” Hu Si smiled, ”Sleep well, everything will get better. You are still young; time will make everything clear.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, closed her eyes, and the next day, she got up early again and saw that Hu Si was looking at the monitor’s display screen, frowning slightly, ”Is something wrong?”

”Oh, it’s nothing, I just noticed you didn’t sleep well, your emotional fluctuations were significant, and the values exhibited abnormalities, nearly... never mind, try not to think about so much when you sleep,” Hu Si said, holding his head slightly. He had been awakened by an alarm on his phone at just past four o’clock, as the values fluctuated too much, nearing the critical threshold. If the values had exceeded the threshold, the electromagnetic waves would have disrupted her sleep, and Luo Qianqian would have continued to have nightmares.

Luo Qianqian was startled, then nodded, ”My bad, it won’t happen again.”

She was being foolish, fretting over puppy love. Thankfully, she was young and had time to adapt.

”By the way, I called your uncle earlier, took a day off for you, and scheduled a check-up at the hospital.” Looking at the time, Luo Qianqian saw it was only five o’clock. Normally, she would get up at six, so she nodded, especially since she really didn’t want to see Xu Tianyi today either. She hadn’t sorted out her feelings and needed time to think on her own.

”Are we leaving now?” Luo Qianqian rubbed her eyes and let Hu Si remove the monitoring device. If it weren’t for the daily necessity of a wheelchair and wearing the monitoring device at night, Luo Qianqian really could believe she was just an ordinary high school student.

”Yes, gather your things. Don’t eat or drink anything, and don’t go to the toilet. We will do a comprehensive check-up.” Hu Si placed Luo Qianqian in the wheelchair and took out a change of clothes from the closet before leaving. This room was cleaned daily. Soon after, Luo Qianqian threw her uniform and blanket into the laundry basket, quickly finished washing up, and then sat blankly in the wheelchair.

When Hu Si returned, he saw that Luo Qianqian had already changed her clothes, and casually tied her messy hair into a bun before pushing her out the door.

After the two left, from around the corner emerged two figures, one in front of the other.

”So you got up this early just to take a distant look?” Hei Yu looked at Xu Tianyi. Although he was quite satisfied with Tianyi’s perceptiveness, relative to caring for Luo Qianqian, naturally it didn’t weigh as heavily, otherwise, he wouldn’t have left him in the dorm on the other side of the base.

Xu Tianyi watched the vanished figures, lips pressed tightly together, fists clenched tightly, then after a long while, relaxed, and said, ”I’ll head to school.”

Hei Yu checked the time, shook his head with a laugh, but since Luo Qianqian wanted to avoid him, as his student, was he not entitled to some privileges? It was nearly winter break, after all. Narrowing his eyes, Hei Yu took out his mobile phone to contact the Luo Family, and then Hu Si, ensuring everything was in order before looking in the direction Tianyi had left: ”Let’s hope you’re not what she imagines.” His hand held a pile of small buns purchased by Luo Qianqian, eating them one by one.

Once at the hospital, Luo Qianqian went through her checkup, and the doctor was amazed at her rate of recovery. The cast was removed, which greatly relieved her. However, just to be cautious, she couldn’t yet forsake the wheelchair. During bloodwork, she couldn’t bear to look, but it seemed like they took quite a bit. Nonetheless, she didn’t question it, preferring not to think about it.

While waiting for the results, Luo Qianqian sat obediently in her wheelchair, watching the hustle and bustle, when she suddenly saw...

”Nuannuan?” Luo Qianqian saw Qin Nuan, her face etched with anxiety, and hurriedly called out, ”What are you doing here?” Qin Nuan quickly approached Luo Qianqian, who pulled her close, giving her a careful once-over and noticed the bloodstain on her sleeve, her frown deepening.

”Don’t mention it, my dormmate had a severe bleed, and I just went to make the payment. What are you doing here?” Qin Nuan also looked Luo Qianqian over, noticing the dark circles under her eyes, and frowned, ”Didn’t sleep well last night?”

”It was alright, as long as you’re okay.” Luo Qianqian smiled, ”I’m here for a routine checkup and a physical examination.”

”What could go wrong with me? I’m telling you, there are too many jerks out there. My roommate ended up in this mess because her boyfriend refused to pay for an abortion, so she took pills by herself,” Qin Nuan pushed Luo Qianqian to one side and heaved sigh after sigh. ”What is it that makes her so hopelessly devoted to him even though he is ugly, poor, short, and a loser?”

”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? Are you okay here?” Luo Qianqian looked at Qin Nuan’s lit-up phone and frowned slightly.

Qin Nuan answered the phone and explained the situation, then didn’t go over, considering Luo Qianqian to be more reliable than her roommate, who was in an unknowable state of mind.

”What relationship can there be? Did you come by yourself?” Qin Nuan looked around and didn’t see any familiar faces, and asked in a low voice, ”What? Don’t you trust him anymore?”

”I don’t know either. I came here with Doctor Hu.” Luo Qianqian gave a bitter smile. ”Logically, I know I should investigate thoroughly; emotionally, I’m told I should trust; experience tells me to stay calm.”

”I’ll tell you what you should do. You should eat something.” Qin Nuan frowned, hearing Luo Qianqian’s stomach rumble.

Just then, a bag of steaming hot buns appeared before them, with Hu Si casually standing with one hand in his pocket and the other handing the buns to Luo Qianqian. She extended her hand to take them, smiling, ”Thank you.”

”You guys chat; I’ll go ask my senior brother for some medicine,” Hu Si said before leaving with his hands in his pockets.

”Have you eaten? Want some?” It was just past eight o’clock now; judging by Qin Nuan’s look, it was unlikely that she had eaten.

Qin Nuan nodded her head.

The two gnawed on buns while observing all sorts of people in the hospital. After a long time, Luo Qianqian swallowed the last bite of her bun and said, ”Do you think I’m getting too close to him?”

”If you’re not intending to date early, it’s not about being too close; it’s extremely close,” Qin Nuan shook her head. ”What’s the difference between your actions so far and those of a couple, except that you don’t have the official title and aren’t formally boyfriend and girlfriend? More than friends but less than lovers? Is that what you call ’less than lovers’? Going to school together, coming home together—if you weren’t so young, the Luo family would have already condemned him utterly. Haven’t you seen the looks on your brothers’ faces and how Luo Yanran gnashes her teeth when she mentions him? It’s downright scary.”

”Since when have you been this close to my Fourth Brother?” Luo Qianqian raised an eyebrow, noticing something off.

Qin Nuan rolled her eyes. ”Don’t talk nonsense. He’s an essential part of our plan, okay?”

Luo Qianqian didn’t say anything. That was indeed true, but why didn’t she know about these two making plans to go out together?

”What do you think I should do?” Luo Qianqian was most concerned about the issue at hand. The two of them went to school together, sat at the same desk, and even ate together every day. Wouldn’t it be awkward to suddenly stop?

”Apart from your daily interactions, it should be like how you interact with your brothers. Don’t hold hands for no reason—I find that so cheesy...” Qin Nuan said unabashedly. ”Also, don’t bring him to your grandfather’s house anymore.”

Luo Qianqian hesitated for a long time but eventually nodded.
