Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 374: Chapter 356: Hei Yu Visits

Hei Yu greeted Old Master Luo before heading straight upstairs to find Luo Qianqian. Hu Si felt something odd and followed him.

The moment Luo Qianqian picked up her pen and was about to say something, she caught sight of Hei Yu’s figure in her peripheral vision. Wearing a serious expression, Hei Yu stood outside her bedroom, which she hadn’t closed, dressed in black casual wear.

Putting down the pen, she calmly said to Jia Kun, ”Brother Xiao Kun, go play with Second Aunt first, I’ve got something to deal with over here.”

Jia Kun saw Hei Yu and nodded after a moment, not even taking the exercise book with him and heading straight downstairs.

Luo Qianqian sat on the bed, clearing a chair for her guest, ”Teacher, please take a seat.” The other chair was naturally occupied by Hu Si.

Hei Yu glanced sideways at Hu Si and said, ”You, go out first.”

Hu Si frowned and was about to say something when he saw Luo Qianqian shake her head at him, her smiling eyes passing a flash of seriousness. He nodded and, though he kept grumbling, said, ”Humph, you actually have little secrets behind my back.”

Watching Hu Si leave, Hei Yu stood up and closed the bedroom door, causing Luo Qianqian to frown slightly.

Hei Yu took out a voice recorder and placed it on Luo Qianqian’s desk, ”Are you the prophet?”

”It’s me.” Seeing the voice recorder, Luo Qianqian narrowed her eyes and spoke without any emotion in her tone.

”How did you know about this matter?” Hei Yu asked with a cold voice.

Remaining calm, Luo Qianqian’s tone didn’t fluctuate, ”As I wrote clearly on my blog, it was a master who observed the stars at night and identified the problem. How would I know? I’m just kindly passing on a message after buying the master a loaf of bread, which in folk tales, is called ’the Crane’s Gratitude’, right?”

Hei Yu’s mouth twitched slightly, understanding that this was an excuse, but still unable to refute it. Knowing it was false yet still having to choose to believe, how else to explain what was happening now?

Hei Yu switched off the voice recorder and threw it into the trash can in Luo Qianqian’s room, asking with knitted brows, ”Besides the people directly involved in this matter, does anyone else know it was you who initiated this?”

Luo Qianqian was taken aback, then shook her head. She knew there was one more person but didn’t want to expose that individual.

Hei Yu’s eyes grew darker as Luo Qianqian looked directly at him without fear. She didn’t directly participate but was involved in the planning, which also counted as participation.

”You’re smart enough to know to use a springboard to send out the message,” Hei Yu said after a long silence.

Luo Qianqian blinked and then sheepishly scratched her head, ”Isn’t that because I’m afraid you’ll discover it?”

Hei Yu sighed, feeling resigned. As long as the connection on the other side’s computer wasn’t interrupted, he wouldn’t bother with what Luo Qianqian did, as he too had his matters to attend to. However, this prophecy business got tossed down from above with an order to find the person within three days.

”What do you plan on doing now? You chose such an account because you didn’t want to expose yourself, right?” Hei Yu asked. Luo Qianqian nodded repeatedly. Of course, if she were caught, wouldn’t they lock her up in the lab for dissection and scientific research?

”Cut out the nonsense,” Hei Yu rubbed his temples, ”Less of that provocation, please. A few more times and I can’t guarantee others won’t find you.” It was fortunate she did it at the base, where the terminals change randomly, providing Luo Qianqian a shield against exposure. However, there were not less than three people capable of finding out where she was.

Luo Qianqian nodded, ”Teacher, are you planning to cover for me?”

Hei Yu rolled his eyes in annoyance. Cover for her? How much he wished he could hand this person over to the state.

”Actually, it’s not without a solution. We could completely say it was a foreign master, right? That they’ve already returned to their country...” Luo Qianqian started to give shady advice, and Hei Yu felt a twitch in his eyelid.

”We could also say the master died of fright? Scared to death by the teachers who were seeking him...” Luo Qianqian continued to blink her eyes and offered more shady advice.

”Enough, quit showing off these past few days and focus on reviewing,” he said, his gaze falling on the first sleep machine that took up a lot of space on the floor, sighing, ”Don’t overthink it.”

Luo Qianqian nodded, then watched Hei Yu stand and open the bedroom door. Hu Si plunged straight into the bedroom, and, seeing the cold look in Hei Yu’s eyes, got up awkwardly. ”Ha ha, you came out? I was just coming to ask what you guys wanted to drink.”

Luo Qianqian was speechless. Holding that empty cup, it was obvious you were eavesdropping, right?

”You seem pretty idle. Why not try helping out with an experiment for Group One?” Hei Yu raised an eyebrow and didn’t wait for Hu Si to answer before he left.

Hu Si did not bother to reply either and turned to look at Luo Qianqian smashing her voice recorder, frowning slightly: ”What are you doing?”

”Now that it’s useless, it should be destroyed, especially since it has my voiceprint on it,” Luo Qianqian said, raising her eyebrows. She would not leave any evidence behind. If the visitor had been anyone but Hu Si, she might not even have responded. But all those little things she did at the base, if it weren’t for Hei Yu’s protection, would probably have been exposed long ago. Despite her deep suspicions about him, she still respected her teacher greatly.

Hu Si nodded. ”Don’t stir up trouble these few days, concentrate on studying,” he said.

Then, seeing Jia Kun already standing at the door, he smiled and said, ”Okay, I won’t disturb your studying anymore. Call me if you need anything.” With that, he patted his pants and turned to leave.

Jia Kun frowned: ”What kind of weirdos do you usually hang out with? One is icy cold, and the other is all smiles and jokes. Neither seems like a good person.”

Luo Qianqian nodded vigorously, agreeing completely: ”You’re absolutely right. But one of them is my teacher, and the other is my doctor. I can’t afford to offend either of them,” she said, spreading her hands helplessly.

Jia Kun raised an eyebrow, sat down on the stool, and Luo Qianqian also regained her serious composure to start explaining the key points for answering questions.

Hu Si went downstairs and did not sit in the living room. Instead, he went out the door, and sure enough, Hei Yu’s car had not left. He thought so because he hadn’t heard the sound of the car starting.

”What’s wrong?” Hu Si got into the car, looking annoyed. ”That expression could make me think you’ve been dumped.”

Brooding with furrowed brows, even resting his hand on his chin and pressing his lips tightly together, he looked like a relentlessly logical man analyzing his own issues after being dumped.

”Shut up. Don’t let her go out these next few days. I’m afraid someone might target her,” Hei Yu sighed.

Hu Si frowned: ”You can’t handle it?”

”Don’t even mention it. These past few days, I’ve noticed an account hacking into the base from time to time, almost as skilled as I am. I have no idea who it could be,” Hei Yu said, his brow furrowed deeply. ”I’m worried her information might get exposed. I’ve already cleared her tracks cleanly these past few days, but there’s always a ’what if...’”

Hu Si nodded: ”I understand.” His face took on a rare seriousness.

He knew that in Huaxia, Hei Yu was known as Xiao Hei, and only one person ranked above him while several others were not far behind him. Seeing how serious Hei Yu was, one could tell that this matter was significant.

”Alright, I need to leave now. I still have to report back,” Hei Yu said with a wry smile.

”What are you going to say?” Hu Si did not hide the fact that he knew of their conversation, and Hei Yu had never intended to keep it a secret. He was just worried that Luo Qianqian might be too shy to speak up.

”Claim foreign nationality, what else can I say? After all, I’m the only one upstairs who can check into this matter,” Hei Yu looked at Hu Si and snorted dismissively, ”Get lost. You’re a pain to look at.”

”Yo, yo, look at you, don’t be so hot-tempered,” Hu Si said with a laugh. He opened the car door and got out, then before closing the door, he added, ”One of these days, I’ll have to help remove those bags under your eyes, and you’ll be a young and handsome lad again.” He then slammed the door shut with a bang.

Hei Yu sped away into the dust.
