The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 97: Chapter 97- The Fierce Battle To Stay On Top

That is to say, the Duke household, which promoted merit, was the de facto leader of the borderland nobles. Because of such reasons, the capital aristocrats, who usually tend to be elitist and close minded, dislike the House of Arcknight.

”I’ll keep that in mind” Reinhardt nodded and headed out.

”Ah, I don’t know how she got the news, but that Cienthrope woman also wants to go to the capital with you”.

He locked his brows and glanced at Raymond. If the latter didn’t spread the news himself, there was no way Zerina would know about it.

”Sigh... just take her with you. I’m sure she will be quite useful for the goal you are trying to achieve”.

Outside the headquarters of the Temple of Light, a couple of carriages, maids, and Bob, along with some Knights, were already waiting for him. It appeared that Raymond knew he would head out the moment he learned about the summons. As such, he already made the preparations beforehand.

”Lord Reinhardt” in front of the carriage, Anastasia greeted him.

Reinhardt acknowledged her presence before opening the door to the carriage and entering in. As expected, waiting for him inside with legs crossed was none other than Zerina.

Outside, the driver urged the horses, and their convoy soon started moving.

”We meet again, Sir Reinhardt” inside, Zerina started a conversation.

”I didn’t think you would come. Isn’t the chief busy with the development of the new village for the demi humans?”

”Hehe, I have capable subordinates whom I can leave these things to. Besides, didn’t I say that we will help you no matter what you decide to do?”

She did indeed say that.

”I have been informed by Lord Raymond, Sir Reinhardt is going to the capital because of us, right? Then isn’t it only natural that I, the chief of the demi humans come along with you?”

While it was true that having Zerina with him would make things a little easier for him, but it might not be a pleasant trip for the latter.

”I should caution you beforehand. Even though, unlike the other kingdoms, slavery is banned in Solaris, the revolution took place just about more than a decade ago when the current queen married the king. As such, you might not find this trip to the capital anything close to enjoyable”.

Zerina became silent and continued to stare out of the window.

”Having lost our kingdoms and civilisation, Toto village was the only place we could call our home. Even when faced against the brutal assaults of the demons, we continued to reject the offer from Solaris and the royalty that ruled it”...

”As someone who came to our village, you must have also seen the deep rooted bias and discrimination that we had against humans. However, in the end, to face a common enemy, we had to join hands with the humans, and look where it got us today. The capital you mentioned might be similar to our former village in some way”.

The panther girl’s eyes then turned towards him.

”Since you broke that wall of hate and took that first step, I believe I need to do that too. If I don’t step in the capital and continue to hold onto that cycle of hate and discrimination, we would never be able to win against the demons”.

Reinhardt nodded his head. It was just like she said: to defeat the demons, the inhabitants of this world need to band together. They cannot just think and care about their own selfish interest.

That was why only a handful of Kingdoms remained on this continent now, which was once overflowing with hundreds of kingdoms before the advent of the demon. Even to Reinhardt, it was clear that the demons were using a divide and conquer strategy to play with the inhabitants of this world.

However, due to the strong, almost cemented prejudice and close mindedness of the people, they allowed themselves to be under the complete mercy of the demon. If he wanted to fulfil the task Dioanax gave him, this needed to change.

”By the way, how are those two wolf kin boys doing?”

At that question, Zerina arched her brows ”Do you mean Vic and Jay? Ah, they are doing good, too good in fact. Ever since they came back, they have stopped their mischiefs and are now training intensely. They have been at it with such determination that it even rubbed off on others”...

”It feels good when you see the younger generation finally willing to step up. Ah, that’s right, those two boys are training intently with the purpose of joining the Temple of Light next year. They are constantly going around and telling people that they will become Knights like you”.

The panther girl narrowed her eyes, those vertical pupils glinted with a dangerous light.

”You are quite something. To try and poach talent from my village. How are you going to take responsibility?”

Reinhardt opened his mouth. However, before he could say anything, he found himself pressed against his seat. Zerina had mounted him and was now staring down at him.

”Those boys... becoming a knight has become their dream. They wouldn’t listen to anyone anymore. Don’t tell me that it has been your goal this entire time... Sniff” She took a deep sniff of his scent.

Their face were so dangerously close that if the carriage rocked any fiercely, their lips would touch each other.

”You are such an evil man. To show those boys, no, the entire village of demi human that there is hope for them, you better take responsibility...”

”Yeah, I am planning to” a clear, unwavering voice that was lit with pure conviction, interjected her words.

”I’ll do everything necessary to make the demi-humans proud citizens of this kingdom. No one will dare look down on them again. I will shatter the walls built from centuries of prejudice and discrimination. The demi humans deserve the same respect, the same rights, as anyone else in this kingdom. I’ll make sure they get it.”
