King of the Wilderness

Chapter 98: Chapter 96: Blessed with Both a Son and a Daughter!

Days passed quietly and thickly in the winter of Montana.

In the blink of an eye, there was less than a month left until Aliya’s due date.

Lin Yu’an had completely integrated into the large McKinley Family, becoming a reliable and highly respected member of the family.

His diligence was fully manifested in the daily farm life.

Not only could he skillfully operate various agricultural machinery, but he also used his professional knowledge to design a more efficient automated control scheme for Robert’s irrigation system, significantly reducing costs.

This prompted his father-in-law Robert to praise him more than once: ”Herman, you’re far better than my four sons who only know how to play football!”

”Luckily, I have an angelic daughter, and she was fortunate to find a Chinese husband.”

His brothers-in-law’s attitude towards him had changed from initial caution and scrutiny to complete acceptance and brotherly camaraderie. ℴℴ𝘮

They would invite Lin Yu’an for ice fishing, or on stormy nights, gather around the fireplace, drink beer, and discuss livestock prices and the grass market for the coming year.

More remarkably, this man from China had a natural charisma with children and had already become the king of children in the McKinley family!

As for Aliya, she was cared for like a queen by the entire family.

Her four mothers daily prepared nutritious meals for her, ensuring she and the babies in her belly received the best care.

The most comfortable rocking chair in the living room, covered with a thick wool pad, became her exclusive throne.

Whenever she sat down, a mother or sister-in-law would drape a blanket over her and bring a cup of warm milk.

As the due date approached, Aliya’s belly had grown astoundingly large, and her movements became increasingly awkward.

Lin Yu’an stayed by her side almost every moment, massaging her swollen calves at night and sitting with her under the porch to soak in the precious winter sun during the day, softly reading parenting books to her.

”Hey, listen to this.”

Lin Yu’an pointed to a paragraph in the book and read with purpose: ”Studies show that a father’s low voice can penetrate the amniotic fluid, making the fetus feel secure.”

He then bent down, placed his cheek on Aliya’s round belly, and said gently in Chinese: ”Babies, I’m Daddy. You need to be good inside and not trouble Mommy, okay?”

This made Aliya giggle out loud; she stroked Lin Yu’an’s hair, her eyes full of a glow of happiness.

”Dear, they must love your voice.”

Finally, a week before the due date, the whole family unanimously decided that they couldn’t wait any longer.

The winter weather in Montana was unpredictable; if a sudden snowstorm sealed the road, it would be a big trouble.

The most experienced Martha, who had given birth to Aliya and Kley, was the mother of twins.

She had said more than once, she had twins, her daughter also had twins, the genes were indeed strong.

Martha stood up to take charge and said, ”Alright, kids, it’s time to go to the hospital.”

The enormous maternity bag prepared by the mothers and sisters-in-law nearly filled a suitcase.

Inside, there were not only soft sweaters, hats, and socks hand-knitted by them for the newborns but also some of Aliya’s items.

On the morning of departure, the entire McKinley family gathered in front of the main house.

Robert gave Lin Yu’an a firm hug, this bear-like burly man’s eyes were slightly red.

He patted Lin Yu’an on the back and said with unprecedented solemnity: ”Lin, my precious daughter and grandchildren are entrusted to you! Make sure they stay safe!”

”Robert, rest assured I will definitely do so!”

The four brothers stepped forward one by one and bumped fists with Lin Yu’an.

”Brother, hang in there! Maybe we can’t help you at the hospital, but remember, the entire McKinley family is your support!”

Aliya was then surrounded by mothers and sisters-in-law, saying goodbye reluctantly.

After more than two hours of driving, they smoothly arrived at Billings Medical Center.

After Lin Yu’an completed the admission procedures, an experienced nurse named Catherine smiled and led them into a spacious LDRP room.

This was a family-style room that combined delivery preparation, labor, recovery, and postpartum care.

The room had a state-of-the-art birthing bed, and a small bed for family members to rest, with an independent bathroom. The environment felt more like a comfortable hotel than a hospital.

Nurse Catherine patiently explained the usage of various equipment and the upcoming procedures to them.

”Sir, here you are Aliya’s most important supporter! You can accompany her throughout, and we will guide you on how to help her alleviate labor pains.”

Martha skillfully helped Aliya change into a comfortable hospital gown, arranging the items they brought one by one.

She held Aliya’s hand, using her rich experience to soothe her daughter’s slightly nervous emotions.

The waiting days were peaceful yet filled with anticipation.

They were in this cozy delivery room, waiting for the eventual arrival of those two little lives.

The whole process was longer and harder than imagined.

Late at night, two days later, Aliya’s labor pains began.

Lin Yu’an stayed by her side, tightly holding her hand and using a towel to wipe the sweat off her forehead, continuously whispering words of encouragement into her ear.

With the guidance of healthcare professionals and the companionship of family, after nearly a few hours of effort.

A sharp and loud cry pierced through the stillness before dawn!

”It’s a boy! Congratulations!” the doctor announced happily.

Lin Yu’an bent down to kiss the sweat-dampened forehead of Aliya, his voice slightly excited, ”Aliya, listen, it’s our son!”

Aliya was so exhausted that she could barely open her eyes, yet she showed a perfect smile.

Just a few minutes later, another cry, slightly weaker but equally full of life, rang out.

”There’s also a little princess! Congratulations, a boy and a girl!” Nurse Catherine’s voice was also filled with joy.

When the nurse carefully placed the two cleaned, softly swaddled babies next to Aliya, the whole world seemed to quiet down.

Lin Yu’an and Aliya almost simultaneously held their breath, greedily looking at these two wrinkled little beings.

”Oh, my God...”

Aliya reached out a trembling hand, gently touching her son’s little face.

Lin Yu’an cradled his daughter, leaned over to lightly touch his forehead to Aliya’s, his other hand gently covering his son’s swaddle.

The family of four, at this moment, experienced their first true reunion.

”They have names, right?”

Aliya asked softly, her voice weary yet filled with happiness.

Lin Yu’an nodded, looking at his daughter in his arms, then at his son next to Aliya, his heart overflowing with tenderness.

He said softly, ”Yes, I’ve already decided.”

”The brother is named Ethan Lin, and the sister is named Olivia Lin.”

”Hello, my little man. Your Chinese name is Lin Musen. I hope you will be resilient, vast, and ever-growing like the forests on this land.”

”As for my little princess, your Chinese name is Lin An’an. May your life be peaceful, joyful, and forever surrounded by love.”

Aliya listened quietly, looking at her husband and their children, feeling that all the hardship had transformed into the sweetest gift at this moment.

After being observed in the hospital for three whole days, the doctors confirmed that Aliya had recovered well postpartum.

And both little babies, Ethan and Olivia, had very healthy physiological indicators.

Their pink little faces had already smoothed out, revealing the exquisite and adorable features of mixed-race babies.

The doctor smiled as he informed them that they could proceed with the discharge paperwork to take these little angels home.

In these three days, Lin Yu’an and Aliya were almost entirely absorbed in the miracle of these two little lives, their happiness enveloping them like a warm tide.

On the first day after the babies were born, they spent most of the time asleep with their eyes closed.

Their little fists were tightly clenched, like two little pink dumplings, occasionally smacking their little mouths, making soft, kitten-like noises.

Every tiny movement captivated Lin Yu’an and Aliya, as if it were the most enchanting scene in the world.

Then, on the second day, a wonderful moment happened!

The little princess, who had kept her eyes closed, seemed to feel her father’s embrace and slowly opened them for a few seconds!

In that instant, Lin Yu’an’s heart was seized by something intense.

What kind of eyes were those!

Under the gentle hospital lights, the irises of those eyes were a crystal clear pale green.

That color, like a forest just after the rain, or the first thawing lake ice in spring, pure without a trace of impurity!

”Aliya, look quickly...”

Lin Yu’an’s voice was filled with joy.

”Look at Olivia’s eyes...”

Aliya turned her head, stunned when she saw her daughter’s eyes.

”So beautiful...”

The son in her arms also seemed to adapt to the light and opened his eyes, with the same pale green gaze!

When the two pairs of clear, bright eyes looked at them for the first time, Lin Yu’an and Aliya felt their hearts melting under that pure gaze!

What delighted and enchanted them most was that both Ethan and Olivia’s eyes were surprisingly large and round.

Like two emerald green jewels, just washed by the rain!

And the color of their pupils perfectly inherited the enchanting pale green of mom Aliya!

”They have delightful eyes just like yours, Aliya.”

”Our children will grow up to be more beautiful and handsome than either of us!”

Lin Yu’an’s voice was filled with admiration.

He would spend a long time just quietly observing the two babies, a happy smile spreading across his face without him even realizing it.
