King of the Wilderness

Chapter 88: Chapter 86: New Variety Show Confirmed

Richard’s gaze lingered on Lin Yu’an and Aliya for a moment; he noticed the calm demeanor Lin Yu’an exuded.

He could sense that Mark’s recommendation this time was not exaggerated.

Richard got straight to the point without much ceremony: ”Herman, first, I must say that your first live broadcast on Bilibili a few days ago simply overturned all our perceptions!”

”My team thoroughly studied the data from that broadcast: within five minutes, fans soared past two million, and within ten minutes, received donations exceeding 100,000 US dollars...”

”This has not only impacted my business evaluation team but has also had quite a shock on the entire reality show production industry in North America.”

He sipped his coffee and continued, ”This gives us an unprecedented confidence in your future performance in Alaska and the show’s potential in the Chinese market!”

Lin Yu’an calmly nodded, ”Thank you, I also hope to bring more real and interesting content to viewers who like me.”

”Very good.”

Richard put down his coffee cup and began to detail his plan.

”Our plan is to offer you and Aliya a new beginning in a very remote town in Alaska—Wiseman.”

He explained, ”Wiseman is located about 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle, situated along the Dalton Highway; it’s a true frontier town.”

”The scenery there is magnificent, but the environment is extremely harsh, with long, cold winters that align perfectly with the tone of our show.”

”Of course, we will handle all legal issues.”

Richard looked at Lin Yu’an, ”We know you’re not a United States citizen. So, we have two options for you to choose from.”

”The first option is that we’ll use our company’s resources and legal team to assist you in initiating the EB-1A immigration procedure, ultimately helping you gain legal status.”

”The second option, which is more direct, is to register all assets, such as land and house ownership, under your wife Aliya’s name.”

”Being a US citizen, she faces no legal barriers to purchasing property and settling locally, while you can legally reside and work in the town through family ties.”

Upon hearing this, Aliya tightly held Lin Yu’an’s hand, a sense of reassurance filling her eyes.

Richard’s gaze moved between the two.

”So, Herman, Aliya, this project requires you both to participate as a family.”

”What we need to film is not just an individual’s wilderness survival, but a family’s rooting and growth in the land of the Far North.”

Aliya glanced at Lin Yu’an, who understood that look—it was a look of complete trust in him.

Richard continued, ”Considering Alaska is now in the midst of polar nights and extreme cold, our filming plan will officially start in April next year when the weather begins to warm up.”

”During this period, you’ll have plenty of time to welcome your babies and prepare for everything.”

He added, ”One thing to note is, our filming in Wiseman will be truly immersive documentation. The permanent population of that town is less than forty.”

”They’re all true Alaskan frontier residents, including hunters, pilots, police officers, sled drivers... We hope you’ll get along well with the local community and become one of them.”

”We’ll introduce you to several locals in advance as ’guides’ to help you adapt to life there quickly.”

Lin Yu’an carefully listened to each term; the plan, in terms of legal support, lifestyle integration, and timing, showed immense sincerity and professionalism.

He asked, ”Mr. Prost, I understand and accept this plan.”

”But before we make a final decision, there are some practical issues to consider. For instance, establishing a safe and comfortable home in a place like Wiseman requires significant initial investment.”

Richard nodded appreciatively, ”You’ve touched on the most critical point, and that’s what I’m about to talk about next.”

He turned a summarized document towards Lin Yu’an, ”Firstly, your compensation: our evaluation team, after considering your popularity from ’Alone in the Wilderness’ and the astonishing commercial value demonstrated on Bilibili.”

”We’ve decided to offer you a contract far exceeding the standard for newly added roles. For the first season, we’ll pay you a tax-free salary of 800,000 dollars.”

He paused, ”However, before you go to Alaska, funding is the biggest issue. Therefore, we can advance 500,000 dollars to you.”

500,000 dollars in advance payment!

This figure left Lin Yu’an and Aliya quite shocked.

This means they will have exceedingly ample startup funds to realize all their visions of ”home.”

And not have to use the one million dollars just obtained from Alone in the Wilderness.

”You can use this money for initial land purchase and house construction. We’ve already found several plots of land for sale near Wiseman town through local partners.”

He took out a tablet and pulled up some images and satellite maps to show them.

”For instance, this lot, roughly 50 acres, is adjacent to a tributary of the Koyukuk River, containing both open plains and dense coniferous forests, rich in water and timber resources. Its list price is about 95,000 dollars.”

”And this one, slightly smaller, around 30 acres but with higher terrain and a wider view, closer to Dalton Highway, making transportation relatively convenient, priced at around 70,000 dollars.”

Aliya looked at those snow-covered yet still magnificent pictures, reminiscent of Montana, her eyes filled with longing.

Richard continued, ”As for building a house, in remote areas of Alaska, constructing a wooden house suitable for family living that can withstand sub-zero temperatures of -30 to -40 degrees, isn’t cheap.”

”If you choose to hire a professional construction team, building a medium-sized comfortable wooden house may cost between 250,000 to 350,000 dollars, not including subsequent interior decoration.”

He looked at Lin Yu’an and smiled, ”Of course, I believe with your abilities, you’re likely to choose to complete the majority of the construction work yourself.”

”While this will consume a lot of time and effort, it can save a significant amount on labor costs.”

”You can opt to hire professional teams only to handle parts you can’t independently complete, such as drilling wells, installing septic systems, and solar power equipment.”

”Considering the core materials for house construction, wood, quality doors and windows, top insulation materials, and metal roofs as basic costs, it might possibly be kept within 150,000 to 200,000 dollars.”

Richard clearly outlined a spending guide for them.

Land acquisition: approximately 100,000 dollars

House construction: approximately 200,000 dollars

Transportation tools: budget around 80,000 dollars.

Supply and equipment reserves: budget around 70,000 dollars.

”In Alaska, a reliable performance four-wheel drive heavy-duty pickup truck and at least one snowmobile are essentials.”

”Including a high-powered backup generator, more professional comprehensive tool kits, and enough food and other essentials to support you for a long period; this initial reserve is very important.”

Richard concluded, ”Thus, this 500,000 dollars will perfectly cover all your startup spending, even leaving about 50,000 dollars as surplus.”

Lin Yu’an and Aliya exchanged a glance, seeing reassurance in each other’s eyes.

Richard’s thorough planning, even budgeting, greatly highlighted the professionalism and sincerity of a top producer.

”Thank you so much, Mr. Prost,” Lin Yu’an sincerely said.

”The information and support you’ve provided are extremely important to us, and thank you for decisively choosing us!”

Richard smiled and replied, ”That’s what we’re meant to do. We’re investing in you, Lin. We believe the story you create in Alaska will be more exciting than any Hollywood blockbuster.”

”We’re willing to clear all obstacles so you can focus on showcasing your talent.”

Richard finally added, ”Regarding filming time, we’re giving you maximum flexibility; our filming schedule intends for you to cooperate with our crew for approximately 17 tracking days in Alaska each month.”

”The remaining time is entirely for you to arrange. Of course, if during your personal time you self-record valuable and exciting materials, the production team will reward these materials with additional bonuses.”

Lin Yu’an carefully listened to each term; the plan, in terms of legal support, lifestyle integration, compensation, and freedom, showed immense sincerity and professionalism.

This is almost a perfect plan tailored just for him!

This meeting was more than a business negotiation, akin to a future blueprint planning session.

Richard and his team have virtually paved the way for Lin Yu’an to ”Life Below Zero!”

He glanced at Aliya beside him, her eyes filled with encouragement told him they’d made a collective decision.

Lin Yu’an extended his hand once more, his gaze firm, ”Mr. Prost, I’m very much looking forward to this collaboration.”

Richard also stood up, shook his hand strongly again, a smile of satisfaction on his face.

”Welcome aboard, Herman! I believe you’ll start a new Chapter in Alaska that’s more legendary than Chilco Lake!”
