The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Protective of One’s Own

After everyone took their seats, Ding Yuejun directly stated her purpose, ”Xiaoqing, we came over to say goodbye, Yiyi and I are heading back this afternoon.”

Song Xiaoqing looked reluctant upon hearing this.

”So soon? I originally wanted to take Yiyi around to visit relatives and friends so everyone knows I have a daughter.”

Upon hearing that, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but reply, ”There will be plenty of chances to come to Shangjing in the future, and then we’ll definitely let you take Yiyi for visits.”

”I guess that’s the only way, after all, Yiyi is currently in a critical period of her senior year, and she can’t afford to fall behind in her studies.”

”Yes, that’s how I feel too.”

Ding Yuejun nodded in agreement, but fortunately, the Chu family acted swiftly; not long after the conversation, they found a teacher for Yiyi, who has been tutoring her every evening. The results are reportedly quite good.

Sitting next to them, Yiyi took out two small porcelain bottles from her bag and said, ”Godmother, these are for you and Godfather. Take one before bed every night to strengthen your body.”

”Xiaoqing, hurry up and accept them. The medicine pills Yiyi makes are very effective.” As she said this, she turned to her daughter and asked, ”By the way, Yiyi, did you bring any whitening pills? Give some to your Godmother too.”

Yiyi hurriedly took out another porcelain bottle from her bag and said, ”I brought some.”

Seeing this, Ding Yuejun couldn’t help but nod, saying, ”Yiyi, you are indeed thoughtful, bringing these medicine pills to Shangjing to give to others. Your uncle and aunt really like them.”

Song Xiaoqing accepted the porcelain bottle with curiosity and asked Yiyi, ”Yiyi, did you make these pills yourself?”

”Yes, I made them myself. I’ve opened a medicine shop in our town, specializing in selling these pills.”

Song Xiaoqing’s eyes showed admiration, ”Yiyi, you’re amazing to even know medical skills.”

”Actually, I don’t know any medical skills. I only know how to make some pills.”

Ding Yuejun echoed on the side, ”Yes, Yiyi can’t perform diagnoses, but the pills she makes are really effective. Look at my skin nowadays; it’s pretty good, right? It’s all because of Yiyi’s pills.”

Now Song Xiaoqing was truly surprised.

Initially, she didn’t take these pills seriously, but Ding Yuejun’s example was quite convincing. Despite her age, Ding Yuejun’s skin was fair and smooth, and wrinkles were nearly invisible, making her look like she’s in her thirties.

”In that case, I must take the pills regularly in hopes of looking young like Yue Jun.”

Upon hearing this, Ding Yuejun quickly said, ”Xiaoqing, you don’t look old to begin with.”

”I have that self-awareness. Compared to you, I do seem older.”

Originally, among her peers, because she hadn’t given birth, she looked younger than the others. But standing next to Ding Yuejun, anyone would think she appears older, so she was now full of expectations for the whitening pills Yiyi gave her.

Just as they were chatting, Old Mrs. Song and Song Weili walked in, ”What are you chatting about? It’s so lively.”

Seeing her mother-in-law coming, Song Xiaoqing quickly invited them to sit, then said, ”Yue Jun and Yiyi are heading back, so they came to say goodbye.”

Upon hearing this, Old Mrs. Song raised an eyebrow and asked, ”Really? When are you leaving?”

”Leaving this afternoon.”

Old Mrs. Song said directly, ”In that case, have lunch here.”

Yiyi frowned slightly, originally planning to have lunch at the Chu family home, and leave immediately afterward.

Just as she was about to refuse, Ding Yuejun agreed first, ”Then sorry for the intrusion.”

”It’s no intrusion. We’re family now, so there’s no such thing as intrusion.” Old Mrs. Song said with a smile, which didn’t reach her eyes, and then turned to look at Yiyi, her expression indescribable.

”I heard Wei Li ran into you at lunch yesterday; it seems you two sisters really have some fate.”

Upon hearing this from Old Mrs. Song, Yiyi raised her eyebrows slightly.

Seemed like she was standing up for Song Weili, though Yiyi felt there was no conflict with Song Weili yesterday; yet here, the old lady was voicing her support, indicating Song Weili held significant importance to her.

”Yes, I did run into sister Wei Li yesterday; she was there with her friends for lunch. But they arrived when we were almost done eating, so we just said a simple goodbye afterward.”

Song Xiaoqing, on the side, noticed the old lady’s intention, feeling slightly displeased, realizing she had come specifically for Song Weili.

Old Mrs. Song, hearing Yiyi’s words, said loudly, ”But why did I hear that Wei Li greeted you, and you completely ignored her?”

Old Mrs. Song hadn’t planned to speak so bluntly, but then thought she was an elder and Mo Yiyi was a junior. There was no need to beat around the bush with any faults.

Upon hearing this, Yiyi looked puzzled and said, ”How could that be? I clearly responded. At the time, her friend Shu Yunfang and my friend Gu Tingyu heard it.”

Upon hearing that, Song Weili quickly said, ”Maybe the position was downwind at the time, so it wasn’t heard clearly.”

Old Mrs. Song saw Song Weili quickly defending Yiyi, feeling even more displeased, ”Even if that was the case, next time, Yiyi, you should greet her actively; Wei Li is your elder sister, and as a younger sister, you should be more respectful.”

The smile on Ding Yuejun’s face gradually faded away. Initially, she thought it was good for her daughter to have a godparent relationship, building more family ties, but if Old Mrs. Song continued to treat Yiyi this way, she would feel stifled; after all, the Song family had been the ones to actively recognize Yiyi as a goddaughter, yet the old lady acted this way.

Song Xiaoqing, on the side, felt her face burning with embarrassment, feeling a bit apologetic towards Yiyi.

But the old lady was not only her mother-in-law but also the mother who raised her, so she didn’t say anything, and directly changed the topic, ”Mom, lunch should be ready. Let’s proceed to the dining room.”

Old Mrs. Song glanced at Song Xiaoqing and nodded lightly, ”Alright, let’s head over now.”

Song Chi was also home for lunch today, so finally, the whole family gathered together.

Initially, everyone focused on their own meals, but halfway through, Old Mrs. Song suddenly looked at Yiyi and said, ”Yiyi, can you pour me a glass of water? Today’s food seems a bit salty.”

Hearing this, Yiyi said nothing and didn’t stand up, just sat there fixedly.

Song Xiaoqing hurriedly said on the side, ”Mom, I’ll pour it for you.” Saying this, she was already up.

”Bang...”

Old Mrs. Song slammed the bowl down heavily and said fiercely, ”Is it not alright for me to let my granddaughter pour me a glass of water?”
