Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

87: Chapter 87 The ”Break” with Chu YuntingChu Yunting thought he had known Ye Nanxing for a long time.

They first met in South City. At that time, Ye Nanxing was a ”stone gambling player.” Using her uncanny perception, she saw through five raw stones in a row, publicly defeating the largest stone merchant in South City.

He initially thought it was just luck, but the more he interacted with her, the more he felt that this young woman was different.

Later, they teamed up and went to Myanmar, making the biggest profit of their lives together.

Afterward, she didn’t stay long; she left a letter and departed—[The weather will turn cold; the sooner you hoard supplies, the better.]

Chu Yunting believed her. He exhausted his savings, transferred a large amount of supplies to keep warm, and that became the seed money for his later ”Zero Point Access Qualification.”

He had always thought Ye Nanxing just went back to her hometown.

He only knew she had a four-person team, but had never heard of any ”Tianlang Mountain Base.”

Chu Yunting had never connected this quiet young woman with the ”Leader of Tianlang Mountain” who was rumored far and wide.

But now—

Ye Nanxing was here, targeted by Lin Muran, and even the Zero Point detector couldn’t read the data within her.

This was not something an ordinary ability user could do.

Strictly speaking, Chu Yunting really didn’t know who Ye Nanxing actually was.

He really didn’t know her limits.

Seeing Chu Yunting fall silent, the smile on Lin Muran’s lips deepened slightly.

His tone was gentle, as if he were speaking earnestly: ”You see—you don’t understand her, and you have never truly trusted her either.”

”Then why are you trying to stop me?”

”Is it duty? Or... are you afraid she will leave you?”

This sentence was like a nail slowly driven into Chu Yunting’s back.

His fingertips tightened.

His breathing stilled for a moment, and then, he didn’t know how long it had been.

Chu Yunting suddenly smiled.

His smile was cold, with a hint of sarcasm: ”I truly don’t understand her.”

”I also don’t know what her background is, or what methods she used to get to this point, but these things... they don’t matter.”

”I only know that we have fought side by side, she has helped me, and she even saved my life.”

”She is just a woman who has walked through the Apocalypse alone, without relying on anyone, and built her own survival system.”

”I want her to live, to live well.”

”If you want to force her, then you are forcing me.”

After he finished speaking, his voice was calm, but his gaze was even colder than before.

Lin Muran was not annoyed after hearing Chu Yunting’s words.

He gave a light laugh, raised his hand in a ”stop” gesture, as if trying to mediate a dispute that was about to escalate.

”Don’t be so agitated.”

His tone was gentle, as if a considerate superior were handling a small misunderstanding between employees.

”I won’t make things difficult for her.”

”She is an excellent individual, and we appreciate her very much.”

”Since she is unwilling to agree on the spot, that’s fine.”

He picked up his coffee cup, took a sip, and said in a slow, unhurried tone: ”We at Zero Point have plenty of time.”

As he spoke, his gaze fell on Ye Nanxing again, his eyes still carrying that air of ”both appreciation and control”:

”You can think about it.”

”Consider this time a vacation—you can freely enter and exit the internal areas, someone will take you on a tour, and your food and accommodation will be fully arranged.”

”Rest assured, no one will force you, but...”

”If you ever figure it out one day, the doors of Zero Point will always be open for you.”

His words were smooth, but in the next second, his tone shifted, and he looked at Chu Yunting nonchalantly, as if adding something casually:

”You also understand the company’s rules.”

”You brought her here, so I naturally assumed...”

He stopped abruptly here, not saying anything more.

He just smiled slightly, leaving the unspoken words hanging in the air like a nail.

Chu Yunting’s brow twitched, and his expression changed slightly.

And Ye Nanxing, who was standing to the side, felt her eyes slowly darken.

She didn’t make a sound, but the string in her heart that had been hanging by a thread suddenly snapped with a click.

She wasn’t stupid.

Although Lin Muran hadn’t finished his sentence, she understood the meaning clearly:

—”You bringing her here was part of the plan.”

—”The agitation you pretended to show was a cover-up.”

For a moment, Ye Nanxing couldn’t tell if this was Lin Muran’s provocation, but this single sentence was enough to plant the seeds of distrust in her heart.

She had always thought she had voluntarily broken into the Zero Point system.

But Lin Muran’s words suddenly made her realize a deeper possibility:

Her appearance, her ”exposure,” and even her standing here right now—was it all part of someone else’s ”script” from the very beginning?

She looked at Chu Yunting.

The other party was silent for a second, then lowered his eyes, his expression unruffled.

There was no explanation.

And no rebuttal.

Ye Nanxing’s heart turned cold, inch by inch.

As for Lin Muran, he simply put down his coffee cup, clapped his hands lightly, and stood up with an elegant posture:

”Alright, I won’t disturb you two any longer.”

”You two rest well here for the next few days, and if you need anything, just ask.”

”I am a person who values rules the most.”

—”But the premise is that everyone follows the rules.”

After finishing, he gave Chu Yunting a meaningful look before slowly leaving.

The door slowly closed behind him, making a dull click.

The atmosphere instantly turned deathly silent.

Chu Yunting did not sit down.

He slowly looked at Ye Nanxing, his brows furrowed, his eyes complex, and finally spoke:

”Ye Nanxing, I didn’t—”

Before he could finish, he was interrupted by her.

”You don’t need to explain.”

Ye Nanxing’s tone was steady, without even a ripple.

She stood up, her movements as light as if she were adjusting a jacket, without a trace of emotional fluctuation.

In that instant, Chu Yunting’s heart tightened.

He looked at her profile; she was so calm that she didn’t look like someone who had just been trapped in the system center and betrayed.

She wasn’t angry.

She was ”withdrawing.”

Withdrawing trust, withdrawing affection, withdrawing any connection that ”regarded him as a companion.”

”I understand why you were silent.”

”You weren’t sure if I was a threat.”

”You were waiting for me to reveal my trump card first.”

”That’s all correct.”

Her tone remained peaceful: ”Everyone has secrets.”

”I have them too.”

After speaking, she walked to the window and tapped her fingers lightly on the edge of the window frame, as if adapting to the temperature here, or perhaps confirming the material structure.

Outside the window was a lighting system as bright as day, maintaining the bunker’s constant ”illusion of daylight.”

Warm, bright, stable—everything was too perfect.

”But I don’t like being arranged.”

”And I like being observed even less.”

Her voice fell as lightly as a feather, but it landed on Chu Yunting’s heart like a heavy hammer.

He wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t utter a word.

Her eyes already said it all:

You are no longer on my side.

Not long after, the door opened again.

A receptionist in a silver-white uniform stood outside the door with a professional smile on their face: ”Ms. Ye, Mr. Lin has given instructions that you may rest freely within the base for these few days.”

”The room is ready, and we can also arrange for someone to take you on a tour of the internal facilities.”

Ye Nanxing glanced at Chu Yunting, did not respond to him, and just nodded: ”Okay.”

Then she left the conference room with the receptionist.
