Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

67: Chapter 67 The Logistics Team’s InvitationYe Nanxing got up and walked over to the video monitor—it was the property management.

She raised an eyebrow slightly and tapped the screen to unlock it with her fingertip.

Outside the door, a male administrator in his thirties stood in the hallway, wearing a thick, warm vest, with a practiced and professional smile on his face. The wind and snow had just stopped, and the porch light illuminated a layer of unmelted frost on his shoulders.

”Hello, hello, sorry to disturb you so late.”

His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, controlled just right.

”I’m Brother Wang from property management. Supplies in the building have been tight lately, so we’re planning to organize a ’Group Buy Squad’ to purchase supplies and buy some essentials for the elderly and special groups in the complex.”

”You weren’t home today; we came to register during the day but didn’t see anyone, so we specifically came to ask tonight.”

Ye Nanxing looked at him expressionlessly, her mind already rapidly analyzing his intentions.

—This wasn’t the first time someone had ”knocked on the door,” but this time it was cloaked in the guise of ”serving the people.”

”Is it convenient for your household to join our community action group? We’ve already gathered fourteen households, and we’re missing someone who understands logistics—”

As he was speaking, the door opened just a finger’s width, and with a ”whoosh,” a wave of steaming aroma rushed out to meet him.

The rich aroma of goose soup, mixed with the scent of dried ginger, chili, and vermicelli, felt like a signal flare ignited in the cold night.

Brother Wang’s nose twitched uncontrollably, and he subconsciously looked into the room.

At that glance, he froze completely.

It wasn’t just surprise, but—stupor.

He saw a steaming, large iron pot of stewed goose on the dining table inside. Four people sat around the table, eating amidst the rolling steam. The soup was bubbling with a ”gurgle-gurgle” sound, and around the pot were washed green vegetables, sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and even a whole bowl of bright green chopped scallions.

The freezer door next to it was half-open, with rows of unopened drinks neatly stacked inside: orange juice, milk tea, soda, bottled dark plum juice, and even a can of Coca-Cola with a gold lid—

All of them were products that had completely run out of stock outside.

Brother Wang’s head buzzed.

His mouth twitched, and he tried hard to maintain his smile, ”...Where... where did you buy all this?”

”Hoarded early,” Ye Nanxing said calmly. ”Hoarded a lot.”

She said it calmly, but Zhao Wei raised a bottle of Coke and interjected with a grin: ”Brother, want a sip?”

Brother Wang’s face twitched.

He felt his palms go cold, and a chill rose up behind his neck—not from the cold, but from the sense of dislocation that came with facing ”another world.”

He knew this unit had undergone extensive renovations before: the door was replaced, windows were sealed, solar panels were installed on the roof, and men in black were seen coming and going during the day.

He had always thought this household was just some absurd case of ”severe security anxiety.”

But now he realized, this wasn’t anxiety; this was being prepared.

He subconsciously swallowed his saliva, his tone becoming more cautious than before:

”Um... we hope that neighbors in the community can help each other, especially during these special times; unity is very important.”

”We aren’t forcing you, but since your household has resources... uh, could you consider supporting some for residents who are short on supplies?”

”Even just a box of instant noodles or a few cabbages would do. In the community group chat, many elderly people are already asking for help.”

Ye Nanxing’s expression didn’t change, but her hand rested lightly on the edge of the door.

She knew this routine.

Helping once is kindness; helping twice is taken for granted; not helping makes you deserving of death.

Her voice was steady, and she replied without a hint of emotional fluctuation:

”Sorry. Not convenient.”

Brother Wang’s expression paused, and the smile he had plastered on his face faltered.

He was still trying to maintain a conciliatory tone: ”I understand,” he said, ”but currently... many residents are cooperating. If your household refuses alone, it’s a bit...”

”It seems out of place.” When he said this, he deliberately softened his tone, but the articulation at the end carried a clear sense of testing.

He looked at Ye Nanxing, wanting to see a trace of hesitation, guilt, or even the slightest bit of wavering on her face.

But Ye Nanxing’s eyes were like ice frozen over a lake.

”After all, everyone knows this unit upstairs has been renovated—security cameras at the door, double steel doors, solar panels. You should still pay some attention to neighborhood relations, right?”

He added a ”reminder” at the end, his tone even lighter, but it carried a sense that seemed peaceful yet was actually a warning.

Ye Nanxing looked at him, her gaze indifferent but tightening inch by inch.

She didn’t want to waste any more time.

”I don’t rely on neighborhood relations to survive.”

”I rely on the rice, coal, fire, and knives I’ve hoarded myself.”

She finished saying this without emotion, and then—

Bang—

The door closed.

The wind and snow were shut outside.

Inside, the steaming pot of goose soup remained, its aroma mixed with the sweetness of stewed vermicelli, still quietly spreading.

Ye Nanxing didn’t know when the so-called property management personnel left outside, and she didn’t care at all.

The group didn’t think much of it and couldn’t wait to enjoy this delicious meal.

Half an hour later.

In the kitchen, the sound of water splashing rang out, and Sun Hao’s hand washing the dishes suddenly paused.

”The group chat is blowing up.”

Zhou Cheng sat on the sofa, his eyes locked on the terminal screen, his tone low.

”They’re saying we refused the group buy, that we’re watching our neighbors starve, and that we have no humanity in this Apocalypse.”

He paused and sighed softly.

”There are even screenshots—it was that look Brother Wang took earlier, the dining table inside was captured.”

A high-definition screenshot on the screen clearly showed—

Goose meat soup steaming in the iron pot, vermicelli, green vegetables, and drinks all laid out, four people around the table, the lights bright. The image had been sharpened, and even the label on that bottle of milk tea could be seen clearly.

Zhao Wei looked up sharply: ”Who took the picture?!”

”Before Brother Wang left, his glasses tilted slightly.”

Zhang Tianjin stood by the living room window, his tone as cold as the night wind, ”The frames were a circle thicker than normal glasses.”

”It should be a micro-recording lens.”

”...Damn.”

Zhao Wei’s face darkened completely; he grabbed the bottle of Coke by his side and took a big gulp.

The sensation of carbonation burst up his throat, and he slammed the bottle onto the table.

”Sis, do you want me to rush out and drag these keyboard warriors down from the building? Ask them one by one—do you want to come up and bum a meal?”

No one laughed.

At this very moment, the phone notification sound beeped repeatedly.

Ye Nanxing walked to the sofa, picked up the terminal, and swiped lightly.

The community group chat—had completely turned into a cesspool of text.

[302 Auntie Li]: If you have the ability, you should help others. We’re in the same building, how can you just watch people die without helping?

[306 Teacher Ma]: They have so much food at their place; it doesn’t look like the life us ordinary people are living! Did they hoard too much?

[Property Management Brother Wang]: Everyone, calm down. No personal attacks. I was just conveying a suggestion; I’m not forcing anyone...

[308 Sister Liu]: If you can’t talk them into it, expose them! People like this are hiding things in the Apocalypse!

[304 Ms. Sun]: Whether it’s forced or not doesn’t matter; people like this don’t deserve to live in Phoenix City!

[310 Auntie Ding]: I see their lights are always on; are they using solar power? Can’t we have unified power supply?

[307 Sister Wang]: Acting like it’s a TV show, stewing goose?! Who can still eat goose?

[303 Old Wu]: The community belongs to everyone, not just her personal granary!

[309 Xiao Lin]: Suggest reporting them! This is too much!
