Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

59: Chapter 59 The Apocalypse Three Months AheadThe room fell silent.

Sun Hao’s expression tightened, and he immediately asked.

”You mean... that kind of ’transmission by biting,’ like in the TV shows?”

Ye Nanxing nodded and said coldly.

”More or less. But according to intelligence, the initial zombies should be extremely fragile, slow-moving, and light-sensitive during the day, but their transmission rate is extremely high... One bite, and you’re guaranteed to mutate within three hours.”

Zhao Wei frowned.

”Does that mean we need to adjust our plan for tomorrow? Should we still hit the supermarkets?”

”Yes.”

Ye Nanxing’s expression was stern, but her tone was even more decisive.

”However, the target will change—we won’t grab the rice, flour, and canned goods that everyone is going crazy over. The Shelter already has enough of those in storage, and they’ll likely start rationing them tomorrow, so there’s no need for us to waste time.”

She pulled up several charts on the living room’s large screen, clicking as she spoke:

”Drinking water, compressed rations, daily necessities, medicine, emergency batteries, generators, gas canisters, fireproofing materials from the supermarket... these are the things that will truly be in short supply in the next phase.”

”And most importantly—medicine! Especially antibiotics, painkillers, fever reducers, and hemostatics!”

”People haven’t realized it yet; they only know how to hoard food. What will actually kill them isn’t starvation, but freezing to death, falling ill without medicine, or dying from infected wounds.”

Zhang Tianjin clicked his tongue.

”That’s a ruthless, yet far-sighted idea.”

Zhou Cheng spoke in a deep voice.

”If there are already zombies in the city, should we still split up tomorrow? It’s too dangerous.”

Ye Nanxing waved her hand, her tone brooking no argument.

”This is our window of opportunity. Most people haven’t discovered the virus yet, and the government hasn’t announced the truth. The number of zombies is small, and their active areas are limited. As long as we move quickly, we can secure key resources ahead of everyone else.”

”If we wait another two days, the whole city will be in chaos, and by then, it won’t be about gathering resources—it’ll be about fighting for our lives.”

The five of them fell silent for a long time. The only sound was the induction cooker bubbling away, but the aroma of the hot pot could no longer mask the heavy sense of oppression in the air.

Outside, the blizzard raged on, but inside this room, it felt as if they had already felt the chill of the Apocalypse.

Zhang Tian leaned back against the sofa, slowly exhaling a puff of white mist, his voice raspy.

”Then tomorrow will be... our final sortie before the Apocalypse.”

Ye Nanxing’s gaze was like a blade as she shot him a cold look.

”Not a ’sortie,’ but a ’harvest.’”

She stood up, walked to the console in the center of the living room, and her fingertips flew across the touchscreen.

Instantly, a city map projected onto the holographic panel, marked with over a dozen red circles, each shimmering with a faint light.

”These are high-value target locations that the Shelter has investigated and compiled during this time.”

”Some are obscure warehouses that ordinary people wouldn’t notice, some are secret reserves known only to those within the system, and a few others are black market smuggling spots and the hoards of private stockpilers.”

”We won’t go raiding crowded supermarkets, nor will we join in on the ’hot zones’ that everyone is fighting over. What we are going after is ’future core resources’—things that are truly valuable and that others haven’t realized yet.”

Zhao Wei felt his blood heat up, and he chuckled.

”That’s our style—one step ahead, taking everything!”

Sun Hao nodded in agreement.

”It’s like hunting; we’re not going to the market to fight for meat, we’re going into the woods to bag the fat deer before anyone else shoots.”

Zhou Cheng, however, still had his brows tightly locked.

”But you said the zombies have already started mutating, even if it’s just a few spots... The city is so big, how do we know there won’t be a sudden outbreak? What if we get surrounded?”

Ye Nanxing gave a cold smile, walked to the weapon cabinet, and lightly pressed the fingerprint lock. With a ”click,” the cabinet door slowly opened, revealing a row of exquisite equipment neatly arranged inside.

Military-grade tactical knives

Micro tear gas sprays

High-voltage stun guns

A Desert Eagle equipped with a silencer

Four hand crossbows, equipped with steel-core armor-piercing bolts

Plus simple tactical vests, outdoor communicators, and biochemical protective masks

Ye Nanxing said calmly:

”We are not ordinary people, nor are we going in unprepared.”

”We’ll set out separately early tomorrow morning, with each person confirming their status every hour. We’ll regroup at the Shelter in three hours. If anyone loses contact, we immediately initiate emergency protocols.”

She looked up, her voice firm:

”Remember, this will be the city’s last moment of peace.”

”It won’t be long before society completely loses control. The true struggle for survival has only just begun.”

The five of them looked at each other, none of them speaking.

Four o’clock in the morning, the night was as dark as ink.

In the Shelter on the top floor of Jinding Phoenix City, a low alarm suddenly sounded, like a beast waking up in the night.

”Woo—”

Sun Hao was the first to spring up from the sofa, walking quickly toward the holographic console, his fingertips rapidly pulling up the source of the alarm.

The image popped up.

In the image, at the entrance of a small clinic about two kilometers southwest of the residential complex, a man in a lab coat stumbled out.

His gait was extremely stiff, as if pulled by some invisible cable; his skin was pale and bluish, with dark brown bloodstains remaining at the corners of his mouth.

He stood dazed in the cold wind for three seconds, then suddenly, with a ”crack,” his neck tilted, and he let out a low roar like a beast, pouncing on a cleaner passing by!

”Snap—!”

A bite to the neck, flesh and blood splattered, and blood gushed out like a fountain.

The cleaner didn’t even have time to scream before being torn down to the ground.

The scene was extremely bloody; a large patch of scarlet quickly seeped into the snow, like a blooming flower of death.

—The entire scene had no filters, realistic enough to send a chill down one’s spine.

”...It’s here.”

Zhou Cheng’s pupils contracted, his voice low.

Zhang Tianjin’s expression tightened, his palm slowly reaching for the hilt of the military knife at his waist: ”Should we prepare firearms now?”

Zhao Wei actually smiled excitedly, licking his lips.

”My multi-barrel shotgun can finally be put to use. I’ve been dying to use it.”

Sun Hao stared at the screen and said in a deep voice.

”It’s not just one case appearing nearby... Look here, and here.”

He zoomed in on the surveillance map, and red dots began to pop up in clusters. Within just ten minutes, several medical points, detention centers, and homeless camps in the west and north of the city had successive abnormal gathering incidents.

Corpses reanimating, biting, pouncing, spreading...

The virus was spreading silently.

Just as Ye Nanxing had predicted—

The city’s calmness was just an illusion.

The real storm was brewing in the dark night!

Ye Nanxing sat on the sofa, the light from the terminal in her hand reflecting on her face, coating her features in a cold, silvery-blue hue.

Not a hint of panic, not a hint of hesitation.

Only extreme calmness, as if what was happening before her was not the collapse of human society, but a pre-planned, controllable game.

She lightly raised her hand and checked her watch.

4:13 AM.

Outside the window, the blizzard continued to fall silently, the whistling wind passing through the gaps in the rooftop, as if whispering some ancient incantation.

In less than three hours, it would be dawn.

She stood up, her posture straight, her movements as steady as a strictly trained machine.

The four of them also stood up subconsciously, instinctively looking at her.

She walked to the center of the living room, her gaze slowly sweeping over Zhang Tianjin, Zhao Wei, Zhou Cheng, and Sun Hao, her tone low and calm, yet exuding an irresistible sense of oppression:

”The plan remains the same; travel light.”

”Do not engage unless necessary; avoid zombies whenever possible.”

”Don’t waste ammunition, and don’t attract attention.”

She paused for a moment, her eyes gradually turning cold, her tone becoming even icier:

”We are not doomsday warriors, nor are we saviors—”

”We are scavengers, we are reapers.”

Scavengers.

Reapers.

These two words, spoken from her lips, felt like nails driven into everyone’s hearts.

Sun Hao had originally wanted to say something light to ease the atmosphere, but the words died on his lips.

Even Zhao Wei, who was usually mouthy and fond of laughing, couldn’t help but shut his mouth, the smile on his face quietly fading away.

It wasn’t that they hadn’t killed before, nor that they hadn’t seen blood.

But at this moment—they understood for the first time that this game had changed.

It wasn’t just chaotic times.

It was the Apocalypse.

And they were no longer mere ”preppers,” but participants who had completely stepped into this life-and-death gamble.
