Apocalyptic Disaster: I Hoard Billions in Supplies and Kill the Saint

69: Chapter 69 Rejecting Moral BlackmailTonight, she had indeed stewed braised pork, hiding in the bedroom with the curtains drawn to eat it in secret.

She had clearly sealed the windows tight and hadn’t told anyone; she thought no one knew!

”What braised pork?! My family hasn’t even lit the stove in two days.”

”You’re spitting venom, talking nonsense!”

”This auntie must be a stage actress by trade; she’s acting even harder than when she cried over her grandson last time.”

Zhao Wei chuckled softly.

The crowd outside visibly paused.

The resident of 305 tilted their head to look at her, brows furrowing slightly.

306 also frowned: ”Auntie Li... didn’t you say your family had nothing left?”

”I, I... she’s trying to sow discord!” Auntie Li turned around abruptly, speaking rapidly: ”She’s doing this on purpose to scare us—she’s lying! Nonsense! Don’t believe her!”

”She’s had it out for us for a long time; she just wants to wipe us all out in one go!”

She spoke in a panic, rushed, and her voice was trembling.

But the crowd had already started to waver.

The resident of 305’s mouth curled coldly, and they said in a low voice: ”Everyone is having a hard time right now; Auntie Li should be more honest.”

”Whether it’s true or not doesn’t matter,” Old Zhang from 402, who was picking the lock, said with arms crossed, his tone gloomy.

”If we keep dragging this out, we’ll be the ones who end up dead first.”

For a moment, the atmosphere subtly began to shift.

Auntie Li realized the situation was spiraling out of control and immediately counterattacked.

”If we retreat now, everything we’ve done will be for nothing! Have you all forgotten what was said in the group chat? She eats hot pot, eats goose, drinks juice, and even shoots people with a bow and arrow! Such a selfish person doesn’t deserve to be in our building!”

The group waited a while longer, and finding that there was no further response from inside, Auntie Li gave a sinister smile.

”Fine.”

She stepped back two paces, her voice cooling down.

”If you won’t help us, we won’t coddle you either.”

”Who doesn’t know your family eats well and has stockpiled plenty? The whole residential complex is saying you were buying in bulk before the Apocalypse. If we don’t get in today, you’ll only get more arrogant later.”

”There are seven of us; I don’t believe we can’t pry open your door.”

”Everyone, all together!”

The few people behind her began to stir. Of the seven, three men prepared to kick the door, two attempted to pry the door edge together, and the rest took tools to try and dismantle the security camera at the entrance.

Zhao Wei couldn’t take it anymore: ”Sister, should I open the door?”

”Don’t,” Ye Nanxing said, pressing a button on the wall. ”As long as there’s enough electricity.”

”Click—”

A soft sound came from the four corners of the door, and immediately after, an imperceptible crackle of electricity shot out from the seams of the alloy door.

”Bang!!!”

An electric arc erupted violently. The man at the very front preparing to pry the door was instantly thrown back, his arms convulsing violently as he fell to the ground, rolling around!

”Damn it! The door is electrified?!”

”Old Zhao, don’t get so close!”

”Quick! Hurry and drag him out!!”

Auntie Li shrank against the wall, her face deathly pale.

”She, she actually dared to electrocute someone?! This woman must be crazy!”

”Don’t be afraid! It’s against the law for her to hurt people!” Auntie Li shrieked, her voice growing shriller. ”There are many of us; who’s afraid of one woman? Go again!”

Zhao Wei said coldly: ”Take one more step forward, and we’ll let you see ’blood’.”

The small hole under the ventilation duct suddenly slid open, and a cold arrow with a chilling glint shot out with a ”swish.”

”Whoosh—!”

The arrow pierced into the knee of the person in front.

Before the blood could fully flow out in the cold, it rapidly froze on the ground, forming a gruesome and messy pattern of intermingled ice and red.

The male resident of 306 turned blue in the face from the pain, his throat rasping as he screamed, but he couldn’t form a complete sentence.

He clutched his wound, crouching on the ground, looking like a beast struggling before freezing to death, his face ghastly pale, teeth chattering, and tears and snot streaming down his face.

”Quick! Pull him away!” another male resident roared, but he hesitated, not daring to step forward.

Auntie Li froze in place, her face shifting from deathly pale to ashen green, her eyes locked onto that heavy alloy door.

A faint arc of electricity still shone through the door seam, as if it were sneering.

She hadn’t expected Ye Nanxing to actually dare to take action.

She had thought that a woman, no matter how cold-blooded or well-supplied, wouldn’t go so far as to shoot arrows at the legs of her neighbors in the same residential complex.

At most, she would just talk trash and make threats; even if she had the guts, she wouldn’t dare to actually come out and take action.

She had never seen anyone like Ye Nanxing—

No scolding, no reasoning, no crying, no shouting.

Just action.

Decisive, swift, without a hint of hesitation.

The expression on Auntie Li’s face right now was like a fox that had run into a hunter’s trap but hadn’t quite died yet—terrified, disheveled, and even... furious out of shame.

”Crazy... crazy!! She’s a lunatic!”

”A woman, keeping a house full of men while hiding so many supplies—could that possibly be normal?!”

”She’s just relying on these men to support her! Is this any way for a decent family to live?!”

Behind the door.

Zhao Wei kicked over a chair. ”Say one more foul word, and see if I don’t open the door and slap you across the face.”

”Why open the door?” Zhang Tianjin said, calm to the point of cruelty. ”Letting them talk is sometimes more effective at hurting them than hitting them.”

Sun Hao also sneered: ”They want to emotionally blackmail us? Fine. But they need to act like human beings first.”

Outside the door, another young-looking male neighbor suddenly whispered: ”Let’s go, stop this... If we don’t leave, his leg will be crippled for good...”

Finally, someone began to waver.

The professional locksmith was already silently crouching in the corner, lighting a cigarette left over from before the Apocalypse. He took a drag, and amidst the curling smoke, his gaze toward the door was full of awe.

”This isn’t just some residence.”

”This is a damn—fortress.”

He muttered, and stopped trying.

Seeing this, the others also began to drag the injured person on the ground, retreating silently toward the elevator entrance.

The trail of blood on the ground was dragged into an eerie long mark, rapidly freezing in the cold wind.

The red ice was like a string of ”warnings” that couldn’t be wiped away.

Auntie Li was the last to leave.

Before leaving, she looked back at the door, her eyes full of humiliation, anger, and even a twisted sense of hatred.

She shrieked the final sentence:

”Do you think you can keep the door locked forever?! This world won’t let you stay smug forever—”

”Wait until the government is restored, wait until the military comes in, wait until someone deals with you—”

”You just wait! The residential complex won’t forget this grudge!”

Then she turned around and, without looking back, stepped onto the cold staircase and left.

Silence filled the room.

Zhao Wei hung the bow back on the wall, walked to the kitchen, turned on the faucet, and poured a cup of hot water.

”This place won’t be safe for long,” he said. ”Today it was seven people; tomorrow it might be seventy.”

Sun Hao leaned against the wall, his face expressionless, but the knuckles of his hand gripping the dagger were white. ”We’ve already been targeted.”

Zhang Tianjin: ”After today, everyone in the entire residential complex will know—the household on the top floor cannot be touched.”

Ye Nanxing stood by the window, looking toward the elevator, and said nothing.

What’s coming can’t be avoided, and besides, Ye Nanxing wasn’t afraid of trouble now.

At 4:30 in the morning, inside the Shelter on the top floor of Phoenix City, the temperature probe in the corner beeped.

Outside temperature: minus 65 degrees.

Ye Nanxing had been leaning on the sofa with her eyes closed for less than five minutes when the terminal screen lit up.

As Zhou Cheng zoomed in on the image, he said in a low voice: ”Someone has come up; it’s the resident from 302 in Unit 2.”
