The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1545: Chapter 1562: Can’t Let Go of That Woman (1)

”Yes, I’m leaving right away...” Qin Yi said, hardly daring to breathe, and hurriedly fled the scene as if escaping.

Xia Xiaonuan got into the driver’s car; she didn’t want to go home. She felt suffocated and wanted to go somewhere to get some air.

But she knew that if she didn’t go home, that group of bodyguards wouldn’t relent.

She was truly exhausted. As soon as she got in the car, she leaned her head against the car door.

”Young Madam, should we go home now?” the driver asked respectfully, as usual.

Xia Xiaonuan wanted to correct him, asking him not to address her like that anymore.

She was no longer the Young Madam long ago.

But she was too lazy to speak, merely nodding her head with closed eyes.

Once home, Xia Xiaonuan fell onto the bed and slept. During that time, a servant knocked on the door to bring bird’s nest soup. Xia Xiaonuan didn’t want to eat, but her stomach was protesting with hunger. She knew that even if not for herself, she needed to eat for the child growing inside her.

So, she got up and drank the bird’s nest soup. When the servants called her for dinner later, she said she didn’t want to eat. The servant even brought the meal to her room. It was still her favorite food, and the housekeeper seemed unaware of what had happened; everyone treated her with the same courtesy as before.

Unable to resist the tempting aroma of the food, Xia Xiaonuan got up to eat the meal, drinking half a bowl of fish soup, before returning to sleep peacefully.

This time, she slept soundly, waking up only at noon the next day.

Meanwhile, unknown to her, in another hospital room, Nangong Yaoling sat alone on the bed in front of a laptop, the screen showing video surveillance of the villa’s living room.

He kept watching the video but never saw Xia Xiaonuan come downstairs or go to eat.

He called the housekeeper and learned Xia Xiaonuan had returned home and had been sleeping constantly.

Feeling some worry, he arranged for bird’s nest soup to be sent to her; when he heard that Xia Xiaonuan wasn’t eating dinner, he instructed her meal be sent to her room.

When Qin Yi knocked and entered, Nangong Yaoling closed the phone or turned it to the stock market screen.

He felt awkward, but he couldn’t help it, as he couldn’t stop worrying about that woman.

Ignoring her wasn’t due to the death of his brothers; if anything, that might be a small part of the reason. He felt a bit guilty for their deaths, which made him reluctant to speak.

Yet he knew it wasn’t Xia Xiaonuan’s fault. If he hadn’t insisted on jumping into the sea while injured, the sharks wouldn’t have been attracted.

This was something he should have realized earlier. Sharks have a keen sense of smell and can detect blood from miles away.

But at that time, fear and concern clouded his judgment; he only wanted to save Xia Xiaonuan, not watch her disappear in front of him.

That’s why he recklessly inflicted wounds on himself and jumped into the sea.

However, Qin Yi was more rational and clever. When he jumped into the sea, Qin Yi didn’t immediately follow because he saw he was hurt and considered the potential danger.

Thus, he arranged for the yacht to get as close to him as possible and prepared for interception. His marksmanship could blow off the sharks’ heads just a second before they attacked.

So, even without the brothers’ desperate rescue, he wouldn’t really be eaten by sharks.

But neither he nor Qin Yi anticipated their brothers’ loyalty had surpassed everything,ℯℯ𝑙.
