The Young Master's Escaping Bride Who Lost Memories

Chapter 1520: Chapter 1537: Dig Out My Heart and Show It to You

His voice was hoarse as he spoke, ”What exactly happened to you today? I can trust you, you and Shaochen have nothing between you. But you need to tell me, are you still mad at me because I didn’t accompany you on your trip, because I let you down, right?”

Xia Xiaonuan closed her eyes and said nothing.

”Or are you blaming me for not protecting you? I know, last time, my mom hit you... I’ve already talked to her about that... I’ve never brought it up with you because I felt guilty, knowing I didn’t protect you well, and also because I feared that once I spoke up, you’d think I was suspecting something.

But after all, she’s my biological mother. I can’t do anything to her, nor can I return that slap to you...

Xiaonuan, if you’re still upset with my mom, then I’ll apologize on her behalf, is that okay?”

Xia Xiaonuan lifted her gaze, looking at Nangong Yaoling.

His pupils were bloodshot, tinged with helplessness and heartache.

Xia Xiaonuan felt like something was fiercely pounding at her heart.

She struggled to control herself, barely holding back her tears.

He finally mentioned that matter. Actually, some things didn’t need to be said, because she trusted him, and what he said, she understood.

However, he really didn’t understand her.

And he probably never would, because... she too hated the person she was now, using the most ruthless way to hurt the person she loved the most.

”Nangong Yaoling, you don’t need to apologize for her. That day, I did say some things I shouldn’t have, which is why I angered her. I admit my emotions were also intense that day, so... I wasn’t blaming her, nor was I angry about that incident...”

”Then what is it really about? Xiaonuan, whatever you do, I can forgive, as long as you have me in your heart... But what are you thinking? Can you tell me?”

”...”

”Or is it that you still don’t believe in my feelings for you? Do you feel that I’m not good enough for you? Do you think I have other women in my heart? Xiaonuan, do you want me to dig out my heart to show you, so you believe me?”

Xia Xiaonuan closed her eyes again.

She shook her head.

”Stop talking...”

Nangong Yaoling suddenly turned around, scanning the surroundings, then spotted a fruit knife on the tabletop.

He stepped forward, picked up the fruit knife, and stood in front of Xia Xiaonuan.

”Xiaonuan, if you don’t trust me, right now you can dig out my heart and see! Take a good look, see if there’s another woman inside!”

As he spoke, he grabbed Xia Xiaonuan’s hand and forcibly put the fruit knife into her palm.

Xia Xiaonuan gripped the heavy, delicate fruit knife, its cold blade like ice shards under a winter eave, piercing fiercely into her heart.

Nangong Yaoling held her hand, pointing the knife’s tip towards his heart.

”Right here, Xiaonuan, if you don’t trust me, you have to dig it out and see now! If I, Nangong Yaoling, flinch, then damn it, I’m not a man!”

Xia Xiaonuan stared at the spot of Nangong Yaoling’s heart.

Her hand trembled.

She raised her eyes, looking at Nangong Yaoling.

He gazed deeply at her, his nostrils flaring, pupils filled with red streaks, his handsome and delicate face now devoid of color, he simply stared at her, as if searching for some answer.
